Tetris 99 has been out for approximately one month already! This game pits 99 players against each other in a mad scramble to win the most intense battle royale to date. Tetris 99 is rather difficult, considering that many Nintendo fans have been playing many versions of this game for decades. I've never enjoyed Tetris before this game, but I find myself playing ALL THE TIME. It's such a fun game to pick up and play for 10-15 minutes at a time. My highest placing so far is 5th, which I consider to be almost pure luck. I've definitely gotten better over the past month, and I usually place in the top 40, which is good enough for me. Have you played Tetris 99? How many hours have you put into it? What's the highest place you've gotten? How many times have you gotten first?
I have fun with Tetris 99 but man is it hard. I've played for 5 hours so far and have won 1st place only once and I'm convinced I simply got lucky. I have much to learn about the Tetris meta. Sometimes I can do T-spins but I'm not very good at setting them up.
I'm just waiting for them to add a single player mode to this...and yes, I know that defeats the main "draw" of the game, but as a general rule I don't like puzzle games or PvP, so in its current state it is not my idea of a good time. The anonymity and scope of the PvP element DOES make it more appealing than some titles - no room for hostility when you don't know who you're playing against, after all - but honestly I'd find it intimidating; I'd want the chance to practice by myself and just...relax, sometimes, without that element constantly in my face and interrupting my fun. At the moment, even though it's a free game, it's not broad enough in scope to really interest me enough to warrant downloading it.
