So you got your nice basket of fries, all greasy and salty and tasty, but they're missing something. Of course, they're missing ketchup! So you grab the bottle, you get ready to squeeze, and you aim... all over the fries, or just in one place for dipping? The same question goes for the cheese you have with your nachos, or the mustard with your pretzel, or the ranch for your veggie spread, or pretty much anything that might be considered a saucy condiment possibly suitable for dipping: do you prefer to dip into a pile, or have your condiment already drizzled over everything with no extra dipping-motion effort required? I've seen wars rage and nations fall over divisions lesser than this, so I'm really excited to find out what opinions you have! (And before someone mentions it, I think every possible spelling of the thing I'm calling "ketchup" is equally wrong, so I've given up on fighting for a right way to spell the word)
I thought too much on this earlier for some reason... I like it one way: as a squiggle all over my chips (aka fries). You look as those really curvy lines (like a wavelength), and that's what I like; just a bit more curvy and overlapping. I won't say any other way is wrong, but I prefer it my own way, and I hope no one hates me for that. Dipping is too much effort when it comes to eating, and it's a bit uneven. So, yeah... I think too much on how I eat.
I usually prefer to drizzle it on whatever I'm eating, but depending on what it is, sometimes that just doesn't work too well. Like White Castle has these chicken ring sandwiches. All of the ketchup just pools into the middle of the rings so you hardly get any, except for a huge bite of ketchup right in the middle. It's weird to dip sandwiches, but in that case it's kind of a necessity.
It really depends on how I feel, what I'm eating, and where I'm eating, but most of the time I'll drizzle it and with what is left after I ate all of the fries that had the ketchup on it, I'll start dipping them in a small pile.
My favourite way to eat food with sauces is to have no sauces. I don't know why, I just... don't like my food with sauce. Sometimes, if the fries have a lack of salt, I might dip them in ketchup, but I usually don't dip at all. Tortilla chips on the other hand...
I actually don’t like ketchup. But in terms of other condiments I prefer dipping unless it’s in a sandwich or something.
I would be holding the ketchup bottom and ask, why am I putting ketchup on this, then I'd put it down and eat it plane. I'm kinda a purest when it comes to food and wont eat any of the sauces that come with the food. My idea is that the food should taste good alone and not need to rely on a condiment to taste good. That being said, when it comes to salads, I eat dressings over the salad.
It depends on what I'm eating. If I'm eating french fries, I commit blasphame and eat them as is with nothing added. If it's a veggie tray, I just put a dab on a plate and dip them. If I'm making nacho or chilli cheese fries, everything goes onto the food. It depends on what I'm eating and how I want to eat it at the time.
