A lot of games, primarily in the sandbox or simulation genres, give you the freedom of constructing and designing almost any kind of structure you can think of, from castles and skyscrapers to monuments or giant statues. Many of these games allow you to alter the landscape of the region, too.

Are you the kind of person that really loves taking your time to create elaborate buildings in games, or do you just build whatever is functional and focus on the other aspects of the game? Do you prefer being given the full freedom of using resources in the game to build anything from scratch, like in Minecraft or Starbound, or do you like having some guidance in building specific kinds of structures, like in the Sims or Prison Architect?

What sort of things have you built (or plan to build)? Share some screenshots of your work if you can!

I like to build really elaborate structures when playing games like Minecraft etc. I start off with something functional, and then transform it into a brilliant creation. I love building stuff!

When I'm playing simulation games like simcity I try to build cities that are fully functional but have enough space available so that improvements could be made. I prefer it when I have to work for the resources so that it's more rewarding more me in the end.

I have a few examples I've made from Space Engineers here:

First off, the HTS. Corvus: (No, HTS wasn't a typo, it stands for "Her Majesty's Transport Ship. :P")

The HTS. Corvus is based off of a 3D model of a spacecraft I made in Google Sketchup. Not the best thing, but me and my friends often use it a Flagship, since it's the biggest ship any of us has made, and it has a landing bay on the side and the top - Very versatile! :P

    Then, the HMS. Cygnus.
The HMS. Cygnus is loosely based off of another spacecraft from another game. It's pretty manueverable for its size, but no landing bays on this one - it's a solo runner! :P

I like space games, can you tell? :P

If I can create my own cities and stuff I most likely will play the shit out of a game xD I really like stuff like that, combine it with strategy, like Age of Empires and you have one of my favorite games ever xD

I love playing games where you can create almost anything! I love Minecraft and the Sims because of that, although I like Minecraft a bit more since you have a lot more artistic freedom. I have a few screenshots from things I've built, although you'll have to excuse the quality since they're posted directly from my Facebook (the full-res ones are in my external hard drive which I don't feel like rummaging through right now)-

This was my first 'large' build in Minecraft- a 5-story, 6-part floating castle. Go big or go home, haha. I really enjoyed building this, even if it took forever.

This is a WIP of a castle in a medieval-styled town that I made. I can't find any screenshots of the town itself, but I'll post them later if I do find them. The castle itself is huge, and I really like building in that style. The wood and stone makes the building itself pop, I think. Plus I like making flags. I'll see if I can find the finished version of the castle and town sometime.

This was the spawn point in a private server that I had a couple years back. You spawned at the top of this giant jungle tree, and made your way down to the ground to go out into the world. It's not my best, but I still love it because of its appearance and size.

This was the start of a floating steampunk-y town that I felt like building, haha. I like building large floating things, as you can tell. I never finished this one, but I may go back and finish it someday.

All of these builds were in the same world, as well. I should visit it again someday and take some new screencaps!
