This mainly to discuss and share various cores you have used in teams.

Core is simply a group of Pokémon that work really well together, and are major part of teams. Almost all teams have a core, even if you didn't intentionally make one. There are multiple different styles of cores, but most can be categorized as an Offensive, Defensive, or Balanced core. There are also cores that are based of the type chart, like FWG cores and my personal favorite Water/Dragon/Steel (WDS) which isn't that well known.

I'll edit this post as more cores are posted here, and I'll add new categories for cores if needed to. If you're posting a core for a specific format, please say it, since not all cores work that well in other formats.

    Offensive Cores

    Defensive Cores
    Skarmory + Chansey
    Amoonguss + Slowbro + Heatran
    Heatran + Skarmory + Sylveon

    Balanced Cores

Latias + Mega Scizor + Clefable

    My big core is this...

This is a very good offensive core for OU. Azumarill is a massive attacker with amazing priority and when it carries the Assault Vest is has almost too much bulk. Landorus' intimidate ability can cripple physically offensive threats and Magnezone can hurt Scizor and Skarmory which would otherwise wall these two and has an assault vest too so it takes less damage when up against Kyurem-Black. It works, I've tried and tested it and it is PERFECT on balance teams.

    [3D='sharpedo-mega'] [3D='salamence']
    Mega Sharpedo & Salamence.

    Sharpedo @ Sharpedonite
    Ability: Speed Boost
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Protect
    - Crunch
    - Ice Fang
    - Waterfall

    Salamence @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Moxie
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
    Naive Nature
    - Dragon Claw / Iron Head
    - Earthquake
    - Outrage / Iron Head
    - Fire Blast

Both Mega Sharpedo and Scarf Salamence can be huge threats to teams that don't have bulkier Fairy types to check them. Idea is simple. You try to deal as much damage as possible with the other, and clean with the other one. They both pack a punch, so it won't that hard to bunch holes to offensive and balanced teams. Sharpedo can easily get at least 1 Speed boost before Mega Evolving, and you can also play around with the move Protect, but it's usually quite risky, due to Sharpedo's low defenses. If the the opponents teams lack a fairy type, you can easily send Salamence in and start using Dragon Claw/Outrage depending on how many of your opponents pokemons have fainted and/or are on low health.

As a I mentioned before, this core is weak to bulkier Fairy types, such as Sylveon and Azumarill, and it can have hard time dealing with Physically bulky Pokémon, like Bulky Gyarados. Thunder Wave and Burns can also cripple both of these sweepers, so a Heal Bell/Aromatherapy user is highly recommended. Hazards can allow them to get the some OHKOs or 2HKOs, while opponents hazard can take a significant chunk of your sweepers health bar.

I don't usually build specific cores, that's something I've been working on, but I've found that Heatran, Skarmory, and Sylveon work really well defensively. Sylveon can take fighting hits for the other two and wish pass or heal bell if they need it, skarmory tanks pretty much every physical hit and can soar over earthquakes meant for heatran, and heatran can switch in on fire attacks aimed at skarmory and steel or poison attacks aimed at sylveon and either take minimal damage or get immunity advantage.

I'm also someone who doesn't intentionally build cores, however, my better teams usually have one, which I discover only after few games.

    Now to explain another core.

    [3D='skarmory'] [3D='chansey']

    Skarmory @ Leftovers
    Ability: Sturdy
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
    Impish Nature
    - Roost
    - Defog / Spikes
    - Brave Bird
    - Whirlwind / Spikes

    Chansey @ Eviolite
    Ability: Natural Cure
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
    Bold Nature
    - Toxic / Thunder Wave
    - Soft-Boiled / Wish
    - Seismic Toss
    - Heal Bell / Protect

One of the most well know cores, and also quite simple. Skarmory takes Physical Attacks aimed at Chansey, while Chansey takes Special Attacks aimed at Skarmory. This core is mostly weak to strong mixed sweepers, such as Infernape, and Eelektross.
