Penduline City is always busy. As the second largest in the country, and a port city to boot, there is so much to see and do in this seaside dream town. But there is one thing that makes it stand above all the rest.

At the far edges of the city, on the roads that lead to the vast wilderness of the untamed continent, is a fortress. Large and imposing, it towers over everything in the city. Even from the ports you can see the bright blue bricks that make it up. Above it's wide entrance is an emblem. A brilliant golden sun, surrounded by an intricate winged frame that's recognizable to nearly anyone who sees it.

This is the base of the Cyrus Guild, the country's one and only Mystery Guild.

    Cyrus Badge.png

Mystery Guilds have been established all over the world as a force of good against the strange phenomena known as Mystery Dungeons. Strange places where time and space warp beyond comprehension, they are sources of both wonder and peril alike. They are unpredictable, able to appear and disappear at a moments notice, and they can be filled with monstrous beasts, or treasures beyond belief. Mystery Guilds were made to help explore and document these dungeons, rescue and find anything that gets lost in the dungeons, and capture any criminals who try to take advantage of the dungeons for their nefarious plans.

As one approaches the guild, the fortress no longer seems so imposing. The sounds of people can be heard within, mixed with the clashes of training, the laughter of its members, and the tearful appreciation from those the guild has helped.

There are many stories within and beyond the guild's walls. What stories have already passed, and which legends have yet to begin?

    WORLD-BUILDING

    HISTORY OF THE CYRUS GUILD

The Country-Continent of Creona was the last continent on Earth to have a Guild established on it. Mystery Dungeons (or Rifts, as they were previously called) have existed on the continent for centuries, just like the rest of the world. However, due to its distance from the mainland and its supposed 'back water' nature, it would be almost just as long before a Guild was established on it.

The Cyrus Guild was created about 40 years ago by a Dusknoir named Laslow Elliot. When Laslow found himself saved from one of these Mystery Dungeons by what seemed to be the will of the gods, Laslow began traveling to search for his purpose. Upon learning of the greater Mystery Guild Association, he decided to join the cause. After about 10 years of working under another guild, Laslow returned home to establish a new guild, naming it on his miraculous survival.

The guild grew and grew under his watch. People who were already exploring the mystery dungeons informally started joining the guild for its protections. People became inspired by the work it did and either joined them or supported the guild. Penduline City, the place where the base was established, grew from being a small, irrelevant village and into the second capital of the country.

Sadly, the era under Laslow's leadership came to an end. He was old, and the wear of a an adventurers life finally caught up to him. He passed his Guild Master position to his son (a Chatot named Xy Percy Elliot) and told him to keep the guild safe. Then he passed away.

At the present day, Xy is now the leader of the Cyrus Guild. Many are skeptical of his leadership, being quite young for such an important position. But Xy isn't willing to back down to his detractors. He was given a legacy to uphold, and he will do everything he can to maintain and surpass it.

THE TEAMS AND MEMBERS OF THE CYRUS GUILD

No Guild can function without any one running it. Here are the current teams and members of the Cyrus Guild.

    ☀️TEAM CYRUS ☀️
The Guild Master's team. This team comprises of the guild leaders and their families. Every guild has a Guild Master team, named after the guild itself. Though this is considered the oldest and most experienced team, due to administration duties, Team Cyrus only really goes out during important missions. This team has no specialization.

    Xy Percy Elliot | Male | 25 | Chatot | Guild Master
    Celeste Mandela | Female | 48 | Absol | Assistant Guild Master
    Pecha Leslie Elliot | Female | 12 | Gourgeist (Small) | Member

    TEAM STALWART
A family of stalwart and unflappable warriors. They were the first team to establish themselves in the Cyrus Guild. They specialize in Bounty missions, catching criminals and fending off the monsters in the Mystery Dungeons.

    Arthur Harper | Male | 66 | Alakazam | Leader
    Damian Ferrus-Harper | Male | 24 | Bisharp | Member

    TEAM PILLAR
A team of solo dungeoneers. This team is essentially four solo-teams in a trench coat to bypass the guild's 'no solo-team' rule. Everyone here works on their own terms. Despite that, they are quite efficient. They all have their own specializations as they prioritize different things.

    Kei Makoa | Female | 48 | Incineroar | Member
    Nore Cadogan | Non-Binary | 58 | Kommo-o | Member
    Dione Beltane | Male | 53 | Alolan Marrowak | Member

    TEAM PATCHES
An all-girls team. They are currently largest team in the Guild. They are popular amongst the people of Penduline City, as they make the most appearances there, but they are formidable in the dungeons. They specialize in Exploration and Rescue Missions, documenting new dungeons and finding those who get lost in them.

    Cecilia 'Cici' Irwin | Female | 30 | Foretress | Co-Leader
    Serena 'Rena' Odeine | Female | 21 | Brionne | Member

    Jolie McGoeghan | Female | 27 | Swellow | Member
    Lilliane 'Lanie' Linen | Female | 2 | Espurr | Family*
*(Due to being underaged, Lanie is not a member of the guild. However, with her only living relative being in the guilds, she was put in the Team Roster anyways.)

    Team Back Burst
The hotheaded explorers. This duo is currently the newest team, having been created less than a year ago. They're ready to kick ass and eat Oran berries, and they're all out of berries. They specialize in Exploration and Bounty missions, exploring new dungeons and beating bad guys.

    Benjamin Applewood | Male | 20 | Flapple | Co-leader
    Lewis Townsend | Male | 19 | Noivern | Co-Leader

    STAFF
Of course, no organization can be complete without its staff. The unsung heroes of the guild, they're the ones who make sure that all the members are fit and ready to tackle the dungeons and help those in need. They only go in the dungeons in certain emergency missions.

    STORY

Team Back Burst - Work Hard, Play Hard

The door to the dinging hall slammed open, as a Noivern teen strutted in. "MAKE WAY FOR TEAM BACK BURST!"

"Don't slam the door! Andrei would have a fit if he had to replace it again this week!" Came a voice from behind the counter. A bush of red and green hair appeared, before the rest of the Appletun man stood up. He squinted at the man, trying to figure out why he looked familiar, when it clicked. "Lewis?"

"Hey Matty," Lewis waved to him with an earsplitting grin. "In the flesh!"

"You evolved!" Matty, or rather Matthew, gaped.

"Yepperdoodles!" The teen plopped himself on the nearest seat. "Awh man. If this is how you react, I can't WAIT to see everyone's faces at dinner time!"

"Well, you're a bit too early for that." Matthew said. "We're still cooking everything back there, It won't be done for another hour or so."

"'Is alright," He lounged. "I'm just here to chill,"

Matthew nodded at that. "As long as you don't make a mess. By the way, where's Benjamin? I thought you two were together?"

"Your brother?" Lewis tilted his head. "Yeah he's-"

The door to the dining room slammed open again.

    "-there. Hey Benji!"

"Don't call me Benji," The Flapple - Benjamin - stalked into the room, glaring at the newly evolved dragon. "You left me at the fields!"

"It's not like it could hurt you," Lewis said.

"Idiot, we needed to clear out that place first! You can't just go running off like that!"

"I didn't run, I flew." He grinned irritatingly. "I mean look at the size of these things! They're huge now!" He flapped his new wings.

"No fighting in the dining hall," Matthew tried to calm them down before his brother inevitably exploded. "I'll get you two some snacks, but I have to get back to helping Reese out with dinner, alright?"

There seemed to be a murmur of agreement, as Matthew quickly left the scene to fetch them some snacks.

Benjamin grumbled under his breath, slinking into the nearby chair. After a beat he asked, "So, hows the new form?"

"Wild." Came Lewis' immediate reply. He flexed his finders and gave his wings a little flap. With their size and his current control, it sent a gust of wind through the room. "I didn't know I could feel this energized, or strong! I feel like I can take on the world!"

"That's the evolution high for ya," Benjamin said, as he leaned on the table. "But ya ain't invincible. That highs gonna mess with your perception for a while. Makes you think you're better than you actually are."

"Whaaaat No way! No way thats actually real!" Lewis said in denial.

He shrugged. If Lewis thought for a moment more, he would have remembered that his teammate was also fully evolved and had been for far longer than he had. "Its the truth. You're still gonna need lots of training before you can get anywhere good with that power."

"But training's boring..." Lewis whined. It was then that Matthew came back with some corn muffins for the both of them. "Oh thanks," He took one and started to eat it.

"Better than doing it on the field and finding it out that way." Benjamin said, nibbling at his own muffin.

Lewis grumbled. "I'm probably faster than you are now anyways."

The glare returned. "What was that?"

"Nothin'" Lewis shoved the rest of the muffin in his mouth to stop him from speaking.

Once he was done, he sighed. "I mean, do I really have to?"

    "Yes," Came the immediate response.

"All the stories and stuff made it look so easy..."

"That's cause its just the highlights." Benjamin set his muffin down. "Nobody wants to read all about the boring bits, so they get straight to the 'good stuff', all the glory bits and all." He turned to his teammate. "I thought you already knew that?"

"Well, yeah! But I just want something more exciting to happen y'know?" He looked wistful at the idea.

"Duh, if ya hate excitement ya probably wouldn't even be here." Benjamin said. "But you still gotta work if you wanna actually do the exciting stuff. Would ya really wanna be the first one down when were fighting a gang all cause you decided to slack off or whatever?"

    "No..."

"I can see it now. They will tell tales of the great Lewis, the fool who fainted to the first ember of the battle cause he thought he was so cool." Benjamin held his hand up and started speaking in a faux storyteller voice.

    "Hey-"

"The legend will pass and every story about him will be seen through the lens of this defining moment! Everything will-"

"Stop it! I get it!" Lewis shoved his smaller teammate, causing the Flapple to laugh. He huffed. "Okay okay, I'll do more training with this."

"Good. Cause I'm not carrying a lesser teammate around." Benjamin said with a hint of finality.

But after a beat he continued. "Your first task should be dealing with the fields alone."

"What?!" Lewis scrambled up. "But Benji-!"

"Don't call me Benji," He said automatically. "And that's what you get for leaving me there in the first place!"

    "But its so boring!"

    "Suck it up, Lew!"

The two boys ended up getting in a little scuffle, playful shoves turning into full on play wrestling until Matthew came back out to warn them of their 'no fighting' rule. After that the two of them just settled down to talk, discussing future training events for Lewis and dreams of the perfect mission.

TEAM PILLAR - DIVIDE AND CONQUER

    "You're late."

"Save it Nore," Dione groaned, holding a hand up. "I don't have the energy to deal with you screaming right now,"

Nore's eye twitched as their scales rose up in agitation. "Maybe you should have thought of that before you came 15 minutes late to our meet up!"

"The Pit do you want me to do?! You know how my sleep schedule is!"

    "We had a TIME Dione!"

Off to the side Kei and Leland watched as the Kommo-o and Alolan Marrowak got into a shouting match.

"That makes, what, a new record for the month?" Kei asked out loud, looking to her shorter teammate.

Leland shrugged, looking exasperated at the mess in front of them. "Too soon to say. The month just started."

Kei blinked. "Are you feeling alright Lee? You said a lot of things back there."

    "Mm..." The Vikavolt hummed mutely.

"Done with your quota for the day huh?" Kei asked.

Leland didn't say anything, which really answered it better than if she said anything.

She turned back to Dione and Nore, who were now glaring daggers at each other. "You two done there?"

"For now," Nore hissed, scales clanging as their tail lashed irritably.

"Unfortunately," Dione said, looking infinitely more tired than when he first arrived at the meeting place.

"Cool," Kei dismissed. "So are we going to the bulletin board yet or what?"

"Yes, lets. I've been waiting for this all day," Nore said, heading to the board. Leland seemed happy things were finally moving, as he buzzed off ahead of the dragon.

The Vikavolt, Kommo-o, Incineroar, and Alolan Marrowak all made their way into the guild's fortress, heading straight for the mission board. When they got there, they noticed someone was busy messing with the mission requests. He seemed to have heard the four approach with the way his ears twitched. He turned around, looking both excited and intimidated once he registered who was there.

"Hey there!" Tyson greeted, his tail wagging in kind. He was a new hire, the newest of the Brush Clan to handle the mission requests that the Cyrus Guild dealt with.

"Pipsqueak," Kei greeted, grinning at him. "Are the missions ready yet?"

"Almost!" He quickly plastered the rest of the requests with a bit of Quick Attack footwork before posing at the side of board. "Ta da!"

Leland clapped politely at the display, while Nore rolled their eyes and went to the front. "Fancy trick, now let us get the missions."

"Of course!" Tyson swept his hat off and bowed to them with a wink. "Have fun adventuring, dears~!"

Dione gave him an unamused look. "Are you trying to flirt with us?"

"I- Hah?! N-no, you're old enough to be my mommies and daddies! I-!" His face turned redder than his fur. "I Gotta Go Have Fun EXPLORING!" The Flareon power-walked away, ears pressed flat against his skull and muttering something under his breath.

Kei sniggered as he went running off, before joining the rest of her team at the board.

"Hmm... Not many requests today." Dione noted, scanning through the posted papers. Beside him, Leland nodded his agreement.

"Does that mean we're splitting between two dungeons?" Kei asked.

"'Course not you blind f*cks," Nore snorted. "I found some right here." The three of them crowded around Nore to read the missions they found.

Team Pillar was a rather odd team. Despite being a Team for over 3 decades now, they never actually worked as a team. They all either preffered working alone, or hated working in a team. But job security in the guild meant that they couldn't register as a solo dungeoneer. So they decided to all form a team, but do their jobs individually. To keep the ruse going, they made sure that there was at least two of them in one dungeon working on two different jobs. Laslow probably knew what they were doing but he never stopped them. And he was dead now so...

The missions Nore found were all located in the Diegone Caverns, one of the most challenging and difficult Mystery Dungeons due to its unforgiving zig-zagging labirynth and the vicious dragon-typed monsters that lived there. It was also a favorite for the group to traverse.

"Nice!" Kei grinned, as Leland hummed approvingly. They read through the missions. There were two bounty missions, one of them about a Storm Bearer troop being sighted in the area and a general one about defeating some monsters. There was a rescue mission - finding and returning a runaway teen who stumbled in the wrong dungeon to hide - and an exploration mission - some scholar who wanted to witness the dungeon first hand for some research.

"I should get the Bears mission," Dione stated, reaching out for the paper.

"No way Dione! I saw it first!" Nore snapped, slapping his hand away.

As the two began fighting once more, Leland reached out for the monster fighting mission and taking it into his possession. At Kei's look, he made a typing then box-ing motion with his hand then did a flapping move that made both of his hands look like they were talking. 'SCHOLAR CHATTY'

"Fair enough," Kei herself picked the mission with the runaway kid. It was no bounty mission, but she could admit that no one else in the group was capable of dealing with a sniveling kid.

Nore huffed and took the scholar mission for themselves, as Dione smiled smugly while taking the Storm Bearer mission. Some kind of deal must have been struck between the two for that exchange to happen.

Leland glanced outside the window, where the sun was just beginning to peek through the hills. He hummed, brushing against his teammates' sides to get their attention as he made his way out of the fortress. They couldn't waste any more time. They were burning daylight after all.
