Apate couldn't help but smirk as Dintrius seemed to react in just the way she hoped to her assault. With only a few more strikes she could possibly be able to knock him down, where it would be easy to pin him. In her focusing on her own success, she didn't expect Dintrius to make a feint of his own. She raised her horns and arms in an attempt to ward off his strike, and didn't register his kick until it had impacted her right in the softer scales of her stomach.

She wheezed, instinctively stepping back and freeing Dintrius' foot from her grip. She snarled a moment after she realized what she'd done, and her tail lashed back downwards from its earlier higher strike to wrap tightly around the leg he had impacted her with.

Having lost the advantage of surprise and of restricting her opponent's movements, she instead chose to twist her tail violently with Dintrius' leg caught inside, hoping she could simply wrench him off balance. She brought her head down and over her chest instead, drawing her arms in and shifting to a defensive stance, but one that she could still be ready to pounce out of if Dintrius was toppled by the force of he tail.

Toerga genuinely laughed at Cethain's comment, his fangs glinting as he threw his head back. He laughed for a while, before simply smirking widely, his arms folded over his chest as he still occasionally chuckled.

"'Alpha Lupus?'" He nearly snorted. "Ah, it may have been since I was indeed an alpha that I enjoyed a good laugh. I do not share a sense of humor with much of the demon forces." His ears flicked in amusement. "Nor their, ah, unique sense of honor."

His expression dropped into a slightly more serious one. "I am not an 'alpha lupus.' It has been many years since I have had that title, and I have shed it like the many I held before. Priest, Alpha, Demon, Father." His voice quieted slightly, his expression falling solemn at his last word. "Time wears all titles away." He finished with a sigh.

His counter had an even greater effect than could have hoped; Apate ceased pinning Dintrius' foot down in the ground. While his foe recovered from Dinrius' hit, which had fortunately impacted a softer zone in the Dragon's scaling, he had time to regain balance from his risky gambit.

But before he had time to devise a new strategy, Apate whirled her tail around Dintrius' leg. Obviously she wasn't done trying to put him in a very bad position. She then began using her grip to trow him down, taking in a defensive stance. So that's how it's going to be? Very well... Time to employ some trickery of my own. A little magic should do th-.

"Ack!" Dintrius cried as he felt a new attack on his concentration. Through his mind's eye, he saw the face of the Stellim that had been hunting him for quite some time now, trying to punch through. Somehow he had found a way to intercept him despite his true body being in his own home... He would have to remedy that. But for now, he had to fight the Angel from dissipating the Apparition. He had potential allies, he could not lose them now. So, at the cost a portion his magical reserves, he exorcised the Stellim's consciousness from his concentration, albeit at great effort.

All this, happening in only a fraction of a second, caused Dintrius' Apparition to blink out and back into existence, although that was barely perceptible. What was however, is Dintrius finding himself lost for half a moment and falling right down on to his side from Apate's unopposed pull. His mind raced to track what had happened just in time to see he was right where the Dragon wanted him. His only option was to attempt to roll out of the way, if he had time...
