A lot of the direct-to-video stuff was pretty bad, but only a few were considered... not awful...

The least terrible, was The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride. (Then again, I am biased toward the first one as it was pretty much my childhood).

It also gets bonus points for being the ONLY movie EVER where you get to watch Andy Dick DIE! And the songs were pretty good, especialy "One of Us". All of those singing animals, especially that HIPPO!

    Discuss the sequels..

The sequel to the Hunchback of Notre Dame wasn't very good imo. It was just so cheesy and forced. An unnecessary romance film.
But, at least Disney usually stops after the second film. Some series, such as Dreamwork's Shrek and Ice Age, did not need more than two movies.

I liked Lion King 2 at first but I was young when I got it so I didn't know any better. These days I don't hate it. It's certainly not the worse Disney sequel, but I wouldn't rate it high at all either. I do like The mid-quel 1 1/2 though, where many don't like that one lol.

I actually like Jungle Book 2, as well as Bambi 2. Then there's The Rescuers Down Under, which I love. Stitch 2 (not the one that was for the series) Stitch has a Glitch, I liked too. Never saw Fox and the Hound 2 but have heard bad things.

Worst of them for me is probably Mulan 2. Mainly because they butcher my favorite character, Mushu. That is unforgivable! D< Then there are those god awful Cinderella sequels.

Atlantis 2 was such a phoned-in effort to squeeze some more money out of the franchise that didn't even do too well at the box office. There was a miniseries which roped in the old characters and solved three different mysteries. The characters were like they were taken out of a Scooby Doo episode as well as the plot and environments. But that's the miniseries. What about the movie? It was the miniseries taped together, and nothing else.

Mulan 2. God, what are the words? How about role reversal. Normally Disney sequels seem like the kind of knock-off 'made in China' merchandise you find floating around. Mulan and sequel were the opposite. The original was based on an actual Chinese fable (I believe, not too sure on that) and had a serious oriental feel. It was in the music, the art style, the characters, it was amazing. Mulan 2 was more like America trying to make crappy spinoffs, especially with a bloody SKUNK appearing in the film. Just take an original story that you already succeeded in bringing to life and tack on your own fanfiction as a sequel. Splendid job.

Actually, it wasn't them who succeeded in bringing it to life. Obviously Disney knock-off studios couldn't afford the proper artists, directors, musicians, animators and oftentimes voice actors that did any of their good movies and so they get a whole new bunch to try and fill in for them. This is why you don't take any of the sequels seriously most of the time. Just treat them as non-canon and let them slip out the rectum of general memory.

DECEPTIOONN DISGRAACEEE *insert manly hippo voice here* Yeah I haven't watched the movie and I don't really like the song (I like We Are One more) but heck that hippo! XD

I've actually watched very little Disney sequels...Toy Story 2, Monsters Uni, the Aladdin trilogy (didn't like 2nd one at all but 3rd one is best imo), 101 Dalmations 2, and Lion King 1 1/2. That's about it...

Out of those I think my fav is still Toy Story 2. Lion King 1 1/2 had some great laughs for us second graders but now the jokes are kinda lame. RIP childhood :( I don't remember anything in 101 Dalmations. I just watched it cuz the dogs are cute. And Monsters Uni I enjoyed simply because it was a college setting for us college kids desperately needing to relive childhood because uni sucks the soul right out of you.

Rescuers Down Under was a sequel? o.o *mindblown* what was the original?

Anyways, in general I try to avoid Disney sequels. They never get a good rep lol.

I actually like the Toy Story sequels more than the first. Anyone else like that? Or is that weird? xD And do the Pixar ones fully count as Disney? Cause Cars 2 and Planes are awful too.

For the most part, Disney sequels are usually bad xD BUT I do think some of them have been good.

Lion King 2 - I LOVED this movie. Almost as much as the first. Ok, not as much but pretty close. The music was just as good, I loved the story, great movie :) Probably the only real sequel many people enjoyed.

The Little Mermaid 2 - This one obviously won't ever rival the first since the 1st was so amazing but if you don't compare the 2, this was still a great movie. I loved how in the first movie, Ariel dreamed of living on land and then her daughter in the 2nd dreamed of living in the sea xD I thought it was a cute story even though everyone hates it xD

*raises hand* I liked it because Woody and Buzz didn't spend so long hating each other and being angsty. Brotps were strengthened in the sequel :P Plus I liked the horse (Bullseye?) and Jesse

I really haven't watched too many of Disney's animated sequels, and remember them even less. I watched Lion King 2 and 1 1/2 recently and I really don't remember much, except for the fact that 1 1/2 feels like fanservice for Timone lovers.

Most sequels are just fanservice. The original movie was so well received that people begged for a sequel where none was necessary.

I think what they did well with Toy Story was that the plot still had room to continue after the movie. Most of the Disney movies have the plot finished by the end of the movie, but Toy Story was still open for more, and they worked. I didn't enjoy Toy Story 3 as much as the others, but it was still fairly enjoyable (the game was rubbish though). The same goes for Shrek, which I liked all the movies. They allowed for some room for a new story at the end of each one. Shrek 4 is difficult for me now though after seeing how awesome Rumplestiltskin can be played in Once Upon a Time.

This makes you wonder how Finding Nemo 2 is going to be received. The movie just won't be great if Nemo just gets captured again. Suddenly I'm not so sure about it.

First rule about Disney sequels; don't talk about Disney sequels. For me they ruined too much for me to care even in the slightest. So I just pretend I never seen such messes as Mulan 2, Jungle Book 2, Lady and the Tramp 2......Lion King 3 (realllly?!)

This. I am very unsure what to think of a Finding Nemo (well it's going to be about Dory this time, so Finding DORY) sequel. Especially since Pixar has been lowering the quality bar lately and falling into bad sequels phase. Since I tend to not listen to critics so I can form my own opinion, I want to give it a chance because I love the original movie, but I can't help but be hesitant as well. We haven't seen a trailer yet (I don't think) so I'll hold off at least until then. i hope it will turn out good though. *crosses fingers*

Best Disney sequel was definitely the Rescuers Down Under. That was WAY better than the original. It's probably the only Disney sequel that is actually really good. (That is excluding the Pixar ones. Toy Story had good sequels. Don't really like Monsters University all that much though. Cars doesn't need to exist at all, and we all know that sequel sucked.)

Seriously though... The Fox and the Hound sequel. Well, it's supposed to take place some time during the original film, so I guess it's not much of a sequel, but more of a mid-quel or something... Either way... They join a band. Why would you make a movie where a fox and a dog join a band... It's ridiculous and stupid.

Lion King 2 wasn't THAT bad I guess, I just hate how much they said happened, that didn't actually happen in the first film. 1 1/2 was the one that I really didn't like. There were some funny moments, but for the most part it was just annoying.

Toy Story's sequels go without saying. I think I liked 2 more than 3 though.

Aladdin's were mixed. Didn't care for Return of Jafar; loved King of Thieves.

Cinderella 3 I actually saw within the last year. The best part of it was The Troll Prince (I can't help it. That scene where he looks stoned and leaps out the window without giving a fuck is hilarious).

Rescuers Down Under was made back when Disney seemed to give a crap about sequels.

A lot of Disney sequels are very stale. The stories are usually irrelevant and don't really tie into the original movies very well. I also dislike how they gave sequels to the lesser movies. They gave Cars a sequel but not The Incredibles? Come on Disney! Step up your game.
