(I was talking about this with a few friends through a status update, but I thought I'd bring it to the public~)

The Game Corner, a place where Trainers can gamble their hard-earned winnings for some cool prizes, like Rare Pokémon or hard-to-find items! The older games had Game Corners, but they've been slowly omitted from recent titles. Do you think this was a good decision? What Game Corner was your favourite? What were your secret techniques for easy wins?

I never liked the game corner. I could never understand it, and I always won the exact same way. I'm not exactly glad they took it out since it never really affected me, but I'm not complaining about it either

There are some parts about the game corner that I liked. It was mostly because if the prizes are Pokémon, especially for ones that are not found in the wild. ewe' Those are basically the only reason I go to the game corner. lol

Game corner... frustrating af. Literally more grindy than Pokémon itself. Awesome, but annoying and grindy

My favourite Game Corner was the one in Veilstone, in DPPt. I spent ages on the slot machines trying to figure out how to get the 10 bonus-streak for the "super secret prize". After I found out how the game worked, I managed to get the streak of 10 and claimed my prize.

    The TM for Explosion.

Needless to say, I sold it for money that I put towards more coins for the slots so I could buy TMs I could actually use.

I think it's a not-bad idea, phasing it out. Gambling is frowned upon in many parts of the world, so rather than removing it from some regions' (on planet Earth, not poke-planet) releases, they can produce a more constant game, something they're trying to do lately for the entire world like their global release of XY and ORAS all on the same day. But that's kind of beside the point, I guess. I'm okay with it, since I never really went to the game corners anyhow. It was just never fun for me: why would I stare at roulettes when I can go battle the Elite Four? I don't miss it.

The Game Corners were alright. I've never really been very lucky with them, but it was always nice to get a few coins from few good streaks. The rare Pokémon and useful TMs were good as well. As for their gradual removals, I don't really mind since I don't really make use of them in the first place.

It's a shame they removed the slot machines from HGSS and onward, I always enjoyed trying to get all the rare items at the store, but I haven't been able to figure out how Voltorb Flip works at all and it's frustrating you can't just buy coins, because it's the only way to get a second Flamethrower, Tbolt or Ice Beam TM.
The Game Corner I spent the most time is the one from FRLG, the music was addicting, you could buy coins if you weren't lucky and the place had significance to the plot too. There was also a machine which let you print your team on your Trainer Card, a fun little extra.

I never liked the Game Corners because I could never win, but I wish they were still in the game for the people who did like them. If I had to choose a favorite though, it would be Voltorb Flip because I could actually use somewhat of a strategy for that one.

I really, really enjoyed the Game Corners and I was quite disappointed to see them gone.

That said, it's probably a good idea to have taken them out since like Zero mentioned, gambling is a big problem in a lot of the world. It's probably best for the company and the franchise to stick to being kid friendly.

I've never really liked the game corners because they're always to freaking hard and you only need them for the Pokédex, an even then, you don't always need them.

But they're a nice little perk, I haven't got anything unfortunately.

I never understood the Game Corners in DPPt, but I was really good at the Voltorb Flip in HGSS! I remember reaching level 8... that's good, right?

With all the new features added to the games, I don't really miss the Game Corner. There are other ways to entertain yourself in-game now.

I always felt cheated whenever I played the game corners. I don't like gambling in the first place, and the games made me want to gamble with all of the prizes they offer.

However, Voltorb Flip was amazing! I played that game for hours on end, and I still probably could. Not only was it a nice puzzle game that made the player have to make a crazy guess once in a while, you didn't have to spend any coins to play it at all. The game corners weren't really done correctly in the other games, but I definitely think that Voltorb Flip was a step forward. Sadly, Voltorb Flip and nothing similar has shown up since HG/SS, so I'm still anxiously awaiting that. Who knows, maybe in Pokémon Z we'll get to see a Voltorb Flip-esque game!
