A few days ago, I saw it. I saw it. The fabled unicorn of the modern world: the Google Maps Car. Or one of several, that is. I was on the highway with it, behind it, and we took the same exit. Then another same turn. Then another same turn. I'm sure I seemed like I was following it, what with that magnificent camera stem poking from its roof and looking in 6 or 8 directions, but I promise I wasn't! Eventually it turned a different way and drove a different street than me, leaving my life as suddenly as it entered, and without me doing anything but seeming stoic as I could while I appeared unwanted on camera. How about you? Have you ever encountered a Google Maps Car out in the wild? Do you have any plans on what you will do if you do see it, some quick spur-of-the-moment joke, or perhaps you want to chase it down and see where it's headed? Would you want to drive a Google Maps Car, or does that seem like the most boring job ever?
My friend saw one just recently, but I have yet to do so myself. I don’t really plan to see encounter one since it’s not a huge deal for me. If I did, I’d probably just snap a pic of it.
I'm a good driver, and if all I'm doing is collecting the latest data and getting money from it, then sign me up! It's a heck of a lot better than being unemployed, to be sure...
I saw one once. It was traveling down the street in my university. It was going the opposite direction I was going and I didn't really care to follow it. Its just another car. Doing the car driving thing for a job, I wouldn't like it. Its boring and doesn't pay well. I'd being a welder over a google car driver any day.
My Mom and her sister were driving several years ago and saw one by a hot dog truck. I ended up finding a photo of that very truck later, but I couldn’t find either of them.
I've only seen one once, and it was while it was passing by my house! You could see a blurred out picture of me on google maps for awhile haha. I always thought having this job would be cool and interesting, you're just driving around towns looking at all the cool things!
