    ~Wikipedia

The Legend of Korra was originally aired on Nickelodeon, but is now exclusively released online (through Nick's website), possibly because of the relatively heavy content matter. It just began its fourth and final season, titled Balance, two weeks ago. New episodes are released every Friday.

I didn't put this in Anime & Manga, because although the art style is heavily influenced by Japanese-style animation, it originated in the United States.

So, is anyone else keeping up with this fantastic show? Let's talk about it!

Note: Please put any plot spoilers in spoiler tags! Especially if they're from the newest (4th) season. Thank you!

I adore this show. The first two seasons weren't very impressive - at least not to me - but book three and four have really picked up the pace and Korra really took off as a character. Book three had the perfect combination of comedy and action (Kai is a perfect character please) so I'm really looking forward to what the current book will bring.

Who has seen the newest episode? Are you all as excited as I am about Toph?!

I'm just going to start talking about some season 4 stuff that came across my mind. :O

Oh my gosh, why did all of the sudden all of the air benders just decide to grow their hair out? Aang always kept his head shaved until he went into an extended coma, but now I guess meelo is breaking tradition and just growing it out? I can understand why Jinora would grow her hair back after shaving it as most female air benders weren't bald (avatar yangchen for example), but why is meelo growing his hair out? x.x I guess the screenwriters decided to expand with the "man" joke with meelo and slapped some hair on him. Still, it actually looks really cute on him and he looks so much like aang!

Ok now with Korra. So she is seeing these hallucinations of her avatar state self and eventually ditches Republic City on her journey back to go where exactly? I know its kind of a Korra version of "Zuko Alone," but Zuko was in the desert with limited resources. Korra could have literally chosen to go anywhere with her boat and she decides to just go to some random earth nation town? Even there she sees that blasted hallucination there. Though, what I don't understand if how on earth it pulls a fight against her in the swamp. Though even with all that randomness, HOLY CRAP Toph is back!!!!! That Twinkletoes reference literally made me cry at the end of the episode. I'm really surprised they introduced her so early in the book, so hopefully we get to see a lot more of her, as I'm interested to see how her children would react to her presence again.

Oh yes, so much. Toph was one of my favorite characters in the original, and as soon as Korra saw this nutty old lady, I was like "oh yes that is so Toph." I saw her appearance was hinted at in the trailer, but I honestly didn't expect her to show up so early on... I can't wait to see what her involvement is.

Also Sheep, I too wasn't all that amazed with the first two books. I felt alone in that, as most people tend to disagree with me on that. In fact, in the middle of the second book, I really got the feeling I wasn't going to enjoy Legend of Korra as much as the original, and stopped watching. But when the third book came out, I decided to catch up on the second book, and watch the third book. And wow, I'm glad I did, haha.

SO GUYS I HAVE A THEORY ABOUT WHY SHE WAS SENT WHERE SHE WAS BY THE HALLUCINATIONS IN THE SECOND EPISODE!

So in the end of the last season she was poisoned by the metal right? well her avatar powers started to fail at the end of the battle. She couldn't bend, she couldn't use any of her bending. And in the second episode of season four, the spirits said they could not feel the Raava energy in her, the AVATARS ENERGY. I think her avatar state was damaged. thrown out of balance by what the poison did, and because of it she can't use her bending as well as she could before. So her avatar state began issuing the hallucinations to lead her to the people who could help her regain her balance as bending skill as the avatar. because think about it. The next in the Cycle is earth, so it led her to the greatest earthbender EVER.

If my theory holds, then either Zuko will train her in fire bending next, or IROH WILL COME BACK! as for Airbending... I can only think of two people who could help her... either Jinora, who is the spiritual master of the airbending nation, or AANG who is the previous incarnation and the most knowledgable person known right now for airbending.

on another note... in the latest episode... that guy with the picture of Aang... WAS THAT FOAMING MOUTH GUY?

Prior, I finished 4 books of Legend of Aang,
as well as the conituation of how Republic City was born, and Zuko's mom.
    I've watched all three seasons.
I watched the latest episode yesterday, and Yay! Toph!
    I don't care if you're old, you're still badass.
Same goes for Zuko with the Dragon and his Grandson, Iroh (I love how he has Zuko's voice actor)

As for the hallucinations, I agree, I do believe it is her Avatar state trying to help, though it's relaying the msg pretty badly.
Uhm, is there no Spirit Water or something?

I don't think it's the Foaming mouth guy, Aang and the others were older than him so....

She is born of the water tribe. That is her natural element, so she knows that one perfectly well already.

    omg Korra thread. Yes. Good.

As far as preferring book 3 and 4 to 1 and 2, I agree to an extent. I loved season one, and I was really enjoying it. Season two did struggle along, though. So far it feels like 3 was when it finally found itself as a series. I think the issue with season two was that it originally wasn't even supposed to happen. When they first released Korra it was supposed to only get one season, tell that one story, and then presumably stop. So I think that when it kept going, it really took a while for things to settle in. Granted, in my opinion they settled really well, because I loved season three, and season four is going to be equally as good, it seems. This is definitely one of my favorite series, and @[member="PokeMaster1"] I'd definitely catch up, if I were you. c:

On the topic of Korra's hallucinations, I also think it's her subconscious (or Avatar State) trying to communicate with her. Still horrifying. x_x

I don't know what it is but I just can't seem to like Legend Of Korra. Korra herself is an interesting character, don't get me wrong, it's just everything else that doesn't quite appeal to me. I suppose it's because I miss the grand sense of adventure that was prevalent in the Aang series.

I think the biggest difference is that Korra is a lot darker. I wanna say that has something to do with why they pulled it from TV and put it online. I remember Aang's adventures being way more bright and joking. Not all of them, but more-so than Korra. -w-

Definitely going to have to agree. Season 1 ended in
    a suicide and a murder
, as well as some very freaky scenes
Korra being blood bent into the air with a close up in the beginning of one of the episodes
    Itrobably scared little kids.

It being online doesn't affect me too much since I watch it on the computer anyway, but I'm really liking where the series is going now. Especially because...

I could not stand season 2, but otherwise I've loved Legend of Korra. Honestly, it is so different from the original, being more steampunk than the fantasy setting of the original series and the villains and stories so much darker than a man with vaulting ambition. And there was something that was said by everyone's favourite character that made me think.

Korra had something to learn from all her past foes. Amon wanted equality but went about it the wrong way. The second series villain wanted to return the spirits I think... I don't know anything about season 2... The Red Lotus wanted for there to be equal sharing of power and an end to corruption, leaders, and nations. Kovira is also a difficult villain for Korra as well because her motives seem just, but we don't know the outcomes of when she does unite a town, and she is able to make both the avatar and Sue Beifong seem to be in the wrong. She is an amazing villain.

Also, let me just say, Julie is an awesome character now that she is out of the shadows. I won't say much more though.

    And since
Toph is back, I'm hoping to see her participate in that secret mission last week's episode mentioned.

At this point, I personally prefer Avatar, but Korra isn't bad either.

Season 1 of Korra was pretty good and I really loved Mako & Bolin since then. Asami also proved to be a god damn badass.
Season 2 was just... ugh. Didn't like the concept of it at all.
Season 3 of it was awesome, especially the last 2 episodes.
This current season, at this point, isn't satisfying me too well, tbh. Feels rather slow-paced and I feel as if there's a bunch of filler episodes at this point. Hopefully the last couple of episodes can prove me wrong though. XP

Omg, I'm falling a bit behind with Korra. 8[ Last episode I saw was ep5 of season 4 so I've a bit of playing catch-up to do.. that'll be saved for tomorrow. :)

So far I'm very excited with all the turmoil that's been going on and am especially thrilled with Kuvira as a character; she is perfectly antagonistic (though I'm not sure if it's even right to call her that as she's just set on her own beliefs) and a great villain up until this point. Pardon if anything has changed with her but again, I'm on the fifth episode of this newest season. What do you all think of her so far?

I honestly really like The Legend of Korra, even if it did have a bit of a rocky start, at least personally. I'm not a huge fan of romance plots being one of the main focuses of a show, but thankfully that did die down quite a bit after the first season. The third season is my favorite overall, but the fourth is really good so far, as well. It's sad that there's only one episode left (I think), but it's definitely had a good run! It's one of my favorite shows.

I do love all of the characters, my favorites being Varrick, Asami, Tenzin, and Bolin. When the show first started, I was really worried that Asami was going to be the "love interest for the main character's love interest who turns out to be evil" trope that I'm really not a fan of, but she turned out to be such a badass and I was so happy. Varrick is hilarious even though he tried to overthrow a government, Tenzin reminds me a lot of my father, and Bolin is just an all-around good character, even if he gets thrown under the bus a bit.

Korra is also a really interesting, good protagonist, especially with all the troubles she faces. She's changed and grown so much over the show, which was very cool to watch. Here's hoping the finale is a good one!

MAJOR SPOILERS UNDER THE SPOILER TAG TO THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN S4EP11 "KUVIRA'S GAMBIT". YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Seriously, don't click this if you don't want to be spoiled for the newest episode. It contains vital plot information that is best not seen before you watch it, trust me.

Holy shit who was expecting a giant metalbending-powered Jaeger that shoots Vaatu death-rays because I sure as hell wasn't (I mean, I was expecting the death ray, but still). Is that where all the metal from Xiao Fu's metal 'shells' went? That's what I'm guessing at least, because dear god that thing is gigantic. I wasn't really expecting Kuvira to turn on her husband-to-be so quickly, but then again, I'm not really surprised. She is such a good villain, I'm excited to see how the finale turns out!
