I'm just gonna bring back the discussion thread for all things Legend of Zelda since the original one died.

You all know how discussions threads work by now.

    Go crazy.

I'm considering getting the 3 zelda games for the 3ds, but I don't know if I should get the remakes since I have the original versions for them. I know that I definitely want a Link Between Worlds. I played a Link to the Past and I had a lot of fun with that. We'll see once I get a job XD

I really want to buy MM3D, but money is an issue. I admit, the only Zelda game I've ever played is Wind Waker HD, because it came with my copy of Mario Kart. I admit it's very fun, and I'd love to get into the fandom. I've played a tiny bit of Twilight Princess, and it was awesome. I might get a copy of MM for my graduation gift, so I'll report back when that happens x3

Link Between Worlds is more of a sequel to A Link to the Past than it is a remake in my opinion. I also have all three originals, but each remake is definitely worth picking up. They have much better graphics, the 3D is stunning, and you can take them with you wherever you go!

Taking them with me on the go is the biggest thing. I definitely think I will get a Link Between Worlds when the time arises. However, is there really much purpose in getting the other two? I mean, I already own the games and I know how convenient they would be, but I don't know if they would be a waste of ~$80 combined to get something I already have.

There are quite a few changes between the OoT and MM remakes and their originals. The interface is completely reworked. MM now has a bunch of new secrets in it. Both games have upgraded graphics, and a new Master Quest mode once you've beaten the main story.

So what's the big difference with Master Quest? Is it just a harder difficulty or is it an extended version of the game?

I bet it would be easier to see the guards in Hyrule when you are sneaking to see Zelda tho. It's almost impossible to see them XD

It's a complete remix of the whole game. Dungeons have completely different layouts. Gold Skulltulas are in different locations. Some secrets are moved. Monsters are stronger, and will appear in places they normally wouldn't. The list goes on and on.

Also, yes, seeing the guards is a lot easier.

Zelda, gotta love Zelda. It's my favorite gaming series right next to Pokémon. I've played all the Zelda games, except Oracle of Seasons/Ages, and the horrendous CD-i games. My favorite will always be Ocarina of Time, but each and every Zelda game has its own, unique feeling and style to it. Can't wait for Zelda Wii U in 2016! Hopefully not pushed back further to 2017...

Now that actually sounds pretty cool. I think that I'll at least get one of the two games and let one of my older brothers (who seem to not want to buy games, hm) buy one of the other versions.

Good. I swear I should work for the Gamestop PR group with all the free advertising I give them.

When I go to buy LoZ, I think I'll use Ebay or the Eshop, I prefer those methods a lot better.

So out of the 3, how do you rank them @[member="Nbay64"] ?

    - A Link Between Worlds
    - Ocarina of Time
    - Majora's Mask

A Link Between Worlds was a must buy for me. Well, every Zelda game is a must buy for me, so that's not say much.

Anyway, I'd rank them like this.

    - Link Between Worlds
    - Majora's Mask 3D
    - Ocarina of Time 3D

The only reason Link Between Worlds is #1 here is because of the whole "become a cave drawing type thing" mechanic. I had way too much fun goofing around with that ability.

I've noticed that with non-Zelda followers, Ocarina of Time is the best normally. However, with Zelda fans, it seems that Majora's Mask is mostly the favorite.

I'll probably like whatever game I get, I'm not too picky.

The reason Majora's Mask is my favorite title out of the series is because of how different it is when compared to other games in the franchise. No other games have a plot as dark and as hard hitting of a story as Majora's Mask.

Have you played a Link to the Past before? I own the game and although I'm not that good at it, I find it to be a pretty cool little game thus far. I've owned for almost 7 years and I have barely touched.

Gosh, I need to get into Zelda more. I'm kind of a rookie. I've only beat Windwaker so... yeah. Rookie.

I've played every Zelda game with the exception of the Oracle titles. I have both of them but I haven't actually sat down and gotten into them. Link to the Past is a terrific title to play, it can just be a bit too difficult at times.

Zelda Zelda Zelda. why is the series not called Legend of Link I definitely enjoy the LoZ games a lot. I haven't played many of them though, only Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, Majora's Mask, and parts of Wind Waker. Though I'm really too stupid to play them by myself, I always have to consult walkthroughs for ways to beat levels. XD

Zelda is another one of those games where I too have consult walkthroughs because my video game level of puzzle-breaking is super low. I think my least fav part about Zelda may be some of the really annoying puzzles in the game. It's really what drags it down for me from being a top 5 game series imo.

Nice, a LoZ thread. I must post my thoughts on this here. One of my all-time fav game characters is link. *points to avy* Too bad I have kind of a love/hate relationship with the franchise now, though. I really hate the Wii gimmick. I prefer the traditional way of playing Zelda games and should be offered as a choice, not forced on the player.

Anyway, my introduction to the Legend of Zelda series was with the very first game...when it was still new in the states...maybe around '87 or '88, give or take. Yes, I AM that old. lol I didn't have an NES, but my friend's family had one and her older brother used it mostly. One day, we tried to play the game...but we became so frustrated and bored, we shut it off and went back to playing Super Mario Bros. It was more direct and easy to understand for us.

So yeah, I didn't like the Zelda games at all, yet a couple of years later, there was the Legend of Zelda cartoon (which was also aired along with the Mario Bros cartoons). I LOVED it back then. The magic and fantasy elements drew me in, but I still hadn't gotten into the franchise yet.

Fast forward some. My first appreciated Zelda game was A Link to the Past for the SNES. I liked it a lot, and when Ocarina of Time came out, I was excited for it! Since I was older, I didn't mind the puzzle solving aspects of the game, compared to when I was like six and having a tough time figuring out where to go and what to do. I'm also glad I have the very first version of Ocarina of Time, before the changes (red blood changed to green blood; fire temple chants change; mirror shield [which was my fav because of the design] change, etc.).

I also was glad when I got Majora's Mask a couple of years later, and since it was pre-ordered, it had the holographic cover on the cartridge. I also remember like Nintendo Power talking about it and the tentative title being "Zelda Gaiden".

I do have some Zelda merch....

    A Twilight Princess cap

A statue of Link riding Epona with that authenticity thing which I bought at Nintendo World during a New York Comic Con visit a few years ago.

Legend of Zelda Hyrule Historia book, but it's the regular one. I had it imported from the states to Japan January of last year. I had my parents send it.

The Skyward Sword book that came with the Sail Cloth.

    Ocarina of Time soundtrack

Hyrule Symphony Orchestra Ocarina of Time Soundtrack

Majora's Mask soundtrack Orchestral music collection

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Re-Arranged album

    Golden Legend of Zelda Wii-mote

    Ocarina of Time manga

    Majora's Mask manga

    Oracle of Ages/Seasons manga

Legend of Zelda piano sheet music that I bought at the music store here called Tomioka.

Manga/comics I've read in some way or form, and I'll stick to the English titles...

    Minnish Cap
    Oracle of Ages
    Oracle of Seasons
    Link's Awakening
A Link to the Past (Nintendo Power's version from 1992)
    A Link to the Past
    Ocarina of Time
    Majora's Mask

I've started Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, but haven't been able to finish them, and I still haven't managed to find Four Swords.

As for games, I still own someplace...

A Link to the Past (SNES)
Ocarina of Time (Very first N64 version)
    Majora's Mask (N64)
    Windwaker (Gamecube)
Ocarina of Time Master Quest (Gamecube)
Twilight Princess (Gamecube version...didn't like the Wii version)
    Skyward Sword (Wii)
Kamigami no Triforce II (A Link Between Woirlds...I only have the Japanese version)

    As for games I've played...

    Legend of Zelda (NES)
    Link's Adventure (NES)
A Link to the Past (SNES)
    Ocarina of Time (N64)
    Majora's Mask (N64)
    Oracle of Ages/Seasons (Gameboy Color)
    Windwaker (Gamecube)
    Twilight Princess (GC)
    Skyward Sword (Wii)
    Kamigami no Triforce II (3DS)
Ocarina of Time Master Quest (I didn't get far, because the controls, imo, felt unnatural to me and just preferred the N64's controller set up)

So...yeah, I'll stop fangirling now as I've rambled on long enough. ^^

That's because it is. The original game's title was Kamigami no Triforce and the sequel is Kamigami no Triforce II. Of course they had to change the name since we couldn't really have games with "God" in the title. I wonder why they just didn't call it, "A Link to the Past 2".
You know, I've played a few Zelda games and it's a toss up maybe between Ocarina of Time and a Link to the Past for me. Ocarina of Time was just awesome to me and the wait for a new Zelda game (at the time) helped to build up the hype for it back in '98. It was a nice reintroduction to the franchise after a seven-year wait.

You know, never mind. I will say that my fav is probably Ocarina of Time, but I have very good memories with it. I received the game for Christmas that year. I couldn't play much because of school and I was also a high-school senior. That June, I beat the game right before my graduation. I was more excited over that than my actual graduation. lol

When I played Ocarina of Time originally, I got stuck in the Water Temple. No guide, though and the thought of using one never came to mind for me. So, since I was stuck, I started a new file and played my way up to it again. When I did, I figured out what to do and realized I didn't have to replay the game at all. lol

As for Wind Waker, I remember when people were getting all upset over it. Glad I didn't judge the game and just played it. I really enjoyed it and actually liked the sailing aspect.
