So it goes without saying that this kind of cinematic "world building" is ambitious and there is of course the ever-present worry that the bubble will pop at some point.

Anyway, consider this a discussion thread for all of the above and whatever may come after (There've been mutterings of films for the Black Panther and the Sub-Mariner, and I for one would REALLY like to see "Thor: Stormbreaker" be the title for a third Thor film that would involve Beta Ray Bill).

And I suppose discussion may be going for a bit about Thor: Dark World as it just came out two days ago.

    Thoughts:
    Pros:
    The humans.
Take a hint, Michael Bay. THIS is how you work humor with a bunch of human characters. I know some people have complained about the banter, but sod off. I enjoyed it :)

    Loki.
If his picture isn't already in the dictionary under "stealing the show"...
Seriously, this is his best showing yet. The "drop the illusions" scene, the fake betrayal, THAT TWIST AT THE END, all of it.
    Frigga.
Holy shit, Frigga. I love that she got to do more (including kicking Malekith's ass) and that scene after she died where Loki dropped his illusion...feels.

That cameo by "Captain America", especially "Let's have a rousing discussion about patriotism! As they say on 4chan; my sides are in orbit.

    Cons:

The whole Sif-Thor-Jane triangle was barely hinted at and could've used a bit more work.

    Also,
the Bifrost is suddenly back without explanation. They could've rebuilt it, but if it were that easy, it kinda diminishes Thor's sacrifice in the first film.

    Finally;
Malekith. He looked cool, sounded great, but....REALLY didn't do much other than walk around looking cool and sounding great. I dunno; maybe Eccleston was tired? I was really looking forward to seeing him ham it up.

Well, the Bifrost thing, it had been two years since the Bifrost was destroyed, maybe they have some good workers. And I'll agree, Frigga, dem feels. I expected Odin to bite it.

What worries me is the fact that they have three Iron Mans, probably a fourth in the works somewhere, and still only one Hulk movie. I mean, come on, Hulk is the awesome Avenger, give him another movie. And Black Widow and Hawkeye need movie together.

There have been previous Hulk movies, the latest one not to be included in the Phase scheme was in 2003. At the very end of The Incredible Hulk in 2008 it did show that Bruce Banner was in control of his transformations. This is also backed up in The Avengers by him consciously transforming in the fight against the Chitauri. So, if there is going to be a 'second' Hulk movie I'm guessing that it would not concentrate so much on Bruce Banner's ability to transform as much as the previous movies. I liked the Abomination vs Hulk fight so maybe they'd incorporate another bad-guy experiment gone wrong (or right).

The interesting thing would be to see is how the Marvel movie franchise is going to continue after they finish the story of The Avengers.

Speaking of the latest Thor movie, I've yet to see it but I look forward to seeing it sometime soon since the previous one did end quite ominously.

Well, given current and upcoming appearances by Thanos, The Collector, and Ronan, plus the fact that there's some technicality or another that may have film rights to Fantastic Four and associated characters *coughGalactuscough* reverting back to Marvel from Fox in a couple years...

There's every good possibility they're steering into Cosmic Marvel.

I swear, if we get cinematic Celestials, Eternity, or -dare I say it?- The Living Tribunal, nothing will ever top Marvel. Ever.
