Most of you should know what I'm talking about with this. It doesn't necessarily have to be an entire series, but it can also be a plot element, a character or whatever, but what cliche irritates you the most when you're watching a series?
Personally, one of the things I hate the most is when the male protagonist has a female childhood friend. I mean, try to watch any shitty harem anime and there's almost guaranteed you find one. Most of the time I don't even hate the girl, but the fact that this is so common just annoys me. What's even worse is when there's a girl the main character has met as a child and they've made a promise to get married or whatever. The MC forgets and then the girl suddenly shows up as a hot chick. It's insane how many series I've that used this as a plot element to introduce the main girl and it's more painful every time. There's so many more and better ways to do this. For example, To Love-Ru introduces the main girl of the first two seasons, Lala the alien princess, by having the MC touch her boobs as she's being chased by aliens who want to bring her back home. Coincidentally, touching a girl boobs is the same as proposing in Lala's alien culture so they end up getting engaged because of it. That may be ridiculous, but it fits the series and it's a breath of fresh air compared to every other harem anime out there. There's so many ways and as you can see, a lot of opportunities to be creative as well. Christ, scenario writers. There's also the thing where the MC has a little sister, but I don't mind that too much as it's not really weird for someone to have one. Hell, I have one myself, it'd be quite stupid to complain about it.
There's a few other annoying things too, I'll probably rant about those later >_>

/me crosses some names off my list of suspected aliens

    *cough*

    Two cliches I don't like, and they're both female-related.

One: The obligatory short angry girl. She's like four foot six, probably has pigtails and a foul mouth, and waaay too often has her face portrayed in that simplistic zigzag teeth and blank eyes cartoon style. I have to wonder how many Japanese girls have napoleon complexes with how often they're seen in animes.

Two: I hate how some *shudder* inexplicably creepy animators portray some women. And when I say women, I mean ten-year-old girls. Just would you please stop with the upskirts and torn clothing and borderline sexual hugging, please? It's one thing to do that for an adult woman, but kids? It's absolutely disgusting. Stop doing it forever, anime animators.

Right, I agree with zero on the second point. Some manga/anime .... the fanservice is too much. It loses plot, and is just... well...

I also hate the badass male cliche coughkiritocough. When they just do everything themselves, don't accept help, etc. It can be well done(needs a good backstory and some other bits though), but it's usually not

I don't find this one too annoying, but mainly just common. Sometimes it works pretty well, sometimes it's just ehh..
Love triangles. You all know what I'm talking about. Let me give you an example.

The protagonist is a teenage male who has a female best friend, who he's most likely been best friends with ever since their childhood. The guy falls for a new girl he meets under certain circumstances. These circumstances usually include him having to help her out in some way/shape/form. They both start to like each other, and then there's the female best friend who has pretty much always been in love with the guy, but always denies it up until a certain point.
Sometimes there's even another guy friend in the story, who's been in love with the female best friend and tries to help her as much as possible in order to get her together with the guy she likes (the main male character), just because he doesn't want to see her hurt. However, he usually ends up hurting himself in the process.
In the end, the main male character sometimes doesn't even end up with the new girl he met and fell in love with, due to an unfortunate turn of events.

That was a bit confusing to explain, but I think you know what I mean. Love triangles aren't always annoying, I personally think it makes the story at times. However, it can get a bit repetitive or predictive.

    I have two.

One: the girls seem to be drawn in an overly sexual way. As Zero said: too much fanservice.
Two: in pretty much every anime I've seen, the protagonist's parents (or one parent) is/are missing/dead. Honestly, walking into an anime where the protagonist still has both parents would surprise me.

    I got one.

How 90% of animes revolve around romance? I consider myself lucky to find an anime with no romantic themes in it.

While there's quite lot of romance in anime, not that many revolve around it. You must have pretty "good luck" when it comes to finding those that revolve around it, I guess. Even some anime like Dragon Ball, Beelzebub, and Shokugeki no Souma have romance in them, they don't revolve around it. But I understand the point that finding anime that has absolutely no romantic themes in it, since it's an easy way to explain a motive for a certain action(s).
