Natures Child in the Sinnoh Region
Chapter 1: Change in the Scenery

    By: Jordan Damond

This is going to be about a young man named Lorcan. He is a kid with a bad attitude and a stubborn side to it. He doesn't know it but this is where his legacy begins and where he goes on to either save the Sinnoh region or to fail it. Let's now see what kind of bad natured kid we are dealing with.
    _________________________________________________________________
Twinleaf was a small, calm and uneventful town. The breeze coming from the north was one of the most exciting aspects of the home. There were very rare occurrences where others went across the line and the occasional Officer Jessy was called in. But overall the town was one of the most peaceful places in all of Sinnoh. And one of the most boring. Boring was not a very attractive aspect and with that Twinleaf had barely over 30 residents living there. But, there was only one that truly made an impact. Lorcan was the strangest boy there. Lorcan was an athletic young boy who at times would hang upside down from a tree just to test his limits.
That wasn't what confused people though. What confused them was how backwards he could be. He was snide, sarcastic and straight up rude when it came to strangers, but calm, quiet and polite when it came to friends. At times he could be one of the calmest, most patient and knowledgeable boys you ever knew. Than in a second he can become the most angry, immature and hotheaded boy you ever knew. He had dropped out of school at the age of 7 because of his bad grades. Than, two years later, he had gotten accepted back into the school and he had skyrocketed past all the other students in every subject possible. He was certified as a child prodigy. He was sent to eight therapist, 3/8 of those therapist were found huddled up on the ground, whimpering. 4/8 failed miserably and retired from there job embarrassed that they couldn't help this one kid. The last person was sent to prison after being charged for attempted assault.
The only people he had had any real contact with in 6 years was his Mom and Dad. Whenever it came to his Mom and Dad Lorcan was able to have civil conversations with them. Civil, but not heartfelt. Lorcan by no means hated his parents, quite the opposite. He loved them very much, but, after all those years ago and what happened. Lorcan just didn't trust himself to make friends. He didn't trust himself to not cry. To strangers he is weird, to his parents he is in need of a psychiatrist, but to his Pokémon he is Nature's Child. And today was the day he found that out for himself.
"So in conclusion, we can confirm that the Red Gyarados has been caught and that Verity Lake is now sa-" The TV screen turned to static and a questioning look crossed the Turtwig's face.
He turned to his trainer with sadness in his eyes. "Tur. Turtwig?" [Why did you have to turn it off? It was just getting good!]
Lorcan rolled his eyes at his Turtwig's question, "Oh spare me the sad look, Bryce." Lorcan replied. "You know that we have more important things to do than listen to some mediocre news reporter."
Bryce managed to pull off a look of disdain. He shook his head in disgust. [Mediocre!? Why, in the 10 years I have been with you I have never known you had such bad taste in Television Programs.]
"It's called TV." Lorcan stated while going into his closet to get dressed "Noyone says Television Programs anymore, besides. You have always known I don't like the news."
[Yeah, I have.] Bryce admitted. [But, that doesn't make it any less annoying. Besides it's not like what we are doing is gonna work. Nathan doesn't have the brains for it.] Bryce was about to elaborate when a pack of dirty clothes was thrown into his face.
He was tempted to throw it off but, he decided against it not wanting to risk the unpleasantry of seeing his Trainer without clothing. After a few minutes Bryce got fed, decided to take the risk of seeing his Trainer in that predicament and shook the clothes off his head.
"About time." Lorcan said making no attempt to conceal his amusement. "I was wondering when the taste of my dirty clothes would lose it's interest on you. How do I look?"
Lorcan had decided to go for his blue coat look. He had a white shirt, with a green leaf on underneath. His pant were dark blue with bright gray stripes running down it. His shoes had a stripe pattern of blue and green. His brown hair contrasted with the blue, white and green giving it an abnormal feel around him.
He overall looked strange but, he looked decent at the same time. Which was exactly what his trainer wanted, but the stubborn Turtwig wasn't gonna admit it. [You look like you are wearing a blue cloud, so all in all you should fit well with all the humans.] Bryce snickered at his own joke, but was annoyed to find his trainer giving him a raised eyebrow. Bryce had forgotten that Lorcan had an uncanny ability to speak with most Grass types. Bryce did the sensual thing that any other Turtwig would do and made a hasty retreat. He ran to the door going as fast as he can, which was extremely fast for his species.
He was confused to find that his trainer wasn't following. He was about to wonder why when he crashed cheek first into the closed door. Lorcan stared at him trying, with every fiber of his body to not laugh. He succeeded in pondering, "I guess that what they say is true. Turtwig's were never meant to be fast and you should never run inside the house." He was shaking with laughter at that last bit, unable to contain it any more, he flopped on his back his side hurting with laughter. He laid there for several minutes chuckling unaware of the burning glare his Turtwig was giving him.
He then heard a something along the line of a rock hitting wood. It was probably nothing Lorcan thought. Then he heard it again. Apparently I am hearing nothing twice Lorcan thought dryly. He went to the window, opened it and ducked as a stone went whirling over his head. He returned the favor by sending a much heated glare to the lunatic out there. "Phssh. Over here, Lorcan." The supposed lunatic actually was Nathan himself, he was wearing a black cap, his shirt was light red with the letters GOLDEN on it, almost the same color as his tanned brown skin.
His shorts were brown and his shoes were a golden yellow which he just wore to represent his 'golden personality.' His slick blond hair was combed under his cap in straight lines. He was smirking up to Lorcan ignoring his allies rage. Lorcan's head turned red, he was about to voice his intense hatred towards Nathan but, he then remembered why he was here in the first place. After taking a deep breath he ,to Bryce's extreme displeasure, returned Bryce to his Pokéball, climbed out the window and gently let himself down on the soft grass. When Nathan had walked into striking range Lorcan was tempted to pounce on him and make him pay for his stupidity. He instead narrowed his eyes. only letting the barest slip of venom cross into his voice, "What in the world made you think tossing rocks at my house at 3:00 am was the best way to get my attention."
The irritating boy shrugged his shoulders in an annoying fashion, "It was the best option I had since you don't have a Poketch." He emphasized the word you to enforce his point and make it seem like Lorcan's fault. Lorcan just rubbed his eyes in frustration, he then said they should just get going and Nathan agreed, albeit annoyingly. They than started walking, the soft clomp as their feet hit the pavement, the breeze running against them and the trees bashing against each other. They started walking to Verity Lake.
The scene was unreal, they had walked for a short 5 minutes when they had hit the lake. Lorcan had seen it many times before but not this early in the morning. He was dazzled by the gleam of light coming out on the verizon shining onto the clear, blue and beautiful lake. Even Nathan was shocked to the point where he couldn't help but, allow the muscles in his jaw to slack forward, and allow his mouth to spread wide open in awe.
They may have just stood there, eyes wide open staring if they hadn't noticed the two people standing a few feet away from them. One of them had a red cap with a Pokéball logo on the top side, he had a white, silk scarf on that clashed with the red undershirt he wore. His coat was blue with white stripes going down it. His shoes were dark purple and his jeans were dark blue. He wasn't the one they were surprised to see though. His companion was the one that they were surprised to see.
Or maybe the term boss would be more appropriate. He had white hair in a groomed fashion pointing up. His sideburns stretched all the way down almost to the point where it could be considered a beard. His mustache was long and stretched to the side with small points. He had an shirt and tie under his long brown trenchcoat. His dark pants and brown shoes were matching it.
But, his look wasn't important, it was just a reminder to anyone of who he was. "Professor Rowan." Lorcan murmured more or less to himself. "What in Arceus name could have propelled him to come here." Lorcan had met the Professor, several times even. It had been Mr.Rowan who had given him Bryce in the first place. His dad was friends with the Professor. At one point he had been his apprentice. Lorcan recalled his father, Joshua telling him of the adventures he had had with the Pokémon Professor. He hadn't seen him in 7 years.
"Whatever he's doing." Nathan began bringing him back to reality. "I don't think he will appreciate two kids sneaking out here to-" His sentence was shut off when a hand clamped over his mouth. He sent a glare towards Lorcan before he put his index finger to his lips, a symbol for silence. Lorcan then, after being assured Nathaniel wouldn't speak let go and leaned forward to hear the Professor.
"Hmm... I may have been mistaken... Something appears to be different than it was before, but... Fine! It's enough that we have seen the lake. Lucas, we're leaving." He and the boy they call Lucas started walking over here until Rowan's head snapped to attention upon seeing Lorcan. He increased his pace and before Lorcan could tell Nathan to run Professor Rowan was standing straight in front of him. Lorcan kept that same even expression of his although inside he was full of fright. What if he recognizes me? Lorcan thought. Impossible he shouted to himself in his mind. Not only is it barely Sunrise, but it's been 7 years he can't recognize me!
And that's when Rowan managed to shock Lorcan by asking, "Do I know you from somewhere?" Lorcan masterfully hid his surprise and constructed a look of confusion and fear, as if he was getting in trouble for something he didn't know about.
No, no, of course you don't know me! How could I of all people know the great Mr. Rowan. Maybe it was my big brother you are talking about. Did he do something to you?!? I am sorry for any trouble he may have caused you great o'gre-." Lorcan was about to ramble on in hopes of confusing the Professor before karma showed it's ugly mug.
The professor clamped onto Lorcan's mouth with his hand and then quietly whispered, "Enough. I was clearly mistaken." He took his hand off Lorcan's mouth, told Lucas that it was time to go. They walked past Lorcan and Nathan. Lorcan waited till he was absolutely sure they were gone and then let go of that fearful expression he had put on. He then heard a quiet rattling noise and turned his eyes to see Nathan's hand shaking. He swiftly hid it in his pocket but it was a futile effort.
Lorcan smiled at him, or maybe smirked would be the better term. "You okay?" He asked with false worry. All those times where Nathan's annoying side had pushed Lorcan towards the edge were going to bite him in the ass.
Nathan gave him a swift glare and chose to ignore that question, "Let's hurry or our parents may wake up." Even though it was a horrible excuse since they still had more than 2 hours before they have to go back but Lorcan decided to agree for two reasons. One, he had a conscious and he knew when to stop while he is ahead. Two, there was a possibility that someone else may show up, and they may not be as uninterested as the Professor.
"Yeah let's get started." Lorcan agreed before taking out Bryce's Pokémon and letting him out. Bryce appeared there ready to assist them in their search for the Pokémon.
"Turtwig?" [He has the Pokéball right?] That was what Bryce seemed to be asking. Bryce had come to lose all faith in Nathan's mental abilities after the 'Frozen Leaf' scenario. His leaf still shivered in the cold night.
"Of course he did." Lorcan stated immediately, then after considering for a few seconds he turned to his ally and asked, "You do have the Pokéball right?" When Nathan nodded he then suggested, "Well than. Time to capture a Starly. Let's start over there."
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
"AHHHHH!!!!!!! It's hopeless. Why is it so hard to find a damn Starly!!??" Nathan clasped his hand over his head and ran in a small circle while saying this.
".................Nathan!!" Lorcan yelled snapping him out of that panicking state. "We have only been searching for 5 minutes. It's not like a Starly is gonna pop out of the ground." He started walking towards Nathan so he could tell him to get a grip when he then tripped over something and fell face first into the ground. "Oww. What the Arceus?" Lorcan pulled himself up noticing bitterly that Nathan was walking towards him with bored amusement painted all over his face. Bryce however had sprinted to his friend's side and he nudged him with his nose to make sure he was alright. "I'm alright Bryce. But what I want to know is what in the world is this." Lorcan had gotten up, patted all the dirt off himself and had found the culprit that had cause his untimely fall.
It was a brown briefcase with a Pokéball symbol on the side of it. The lock was a normal pop up latch. On the top imbedded into the case was 'Professor Rowan' in cursive. Lorcan stared at him as he felt the muscles grinding in his mouth to try and pull his jaw back up to his lips, basically he had his mouth wide open in surprise for several seconds before pulling it back together. By then Nathan had walked next to him and gave off a similar reaction to the briefcase. They looked at each other at the same time, an unmistakable question in the air : What are we gonna do? Lorcan decided to start it off by saying what they knew was obvious. "We have to visit the Professor." Nathan took a moment to glare at him opening his mouth to reply sarcastically, but decided against it.
"You know I really do hate it when you're right. But in all seriousness how are we gonna get this all the way to Sandgem town in an hour and get that Starly. It's impossible." Lorcan looked at him in surprise when he heard the sadness in his voice. He really does care about her Lorcan thought. Maybe he isn't such an annoying fool after all.
Lorcan then came to a decision. He rose to his feet with the briefcase in hand. "It may be possible if we split up. I can go to Sandgem town and Bryce can help you cat-" But before he could even finish, a rustling sound was heard. Lorcan immediately went to action and threw himself at Nathan. Just before a predator came down hissing over their heads ready to snap them in two. It swirled around flapping in the air. It was about 2 and 1/2 feet tall. It had a long yellow and black beak, it's feathers were well kept symbolizing that it was healthy. The pattern of its feathers were black and white, it's tail was curled up in a straight line. The claws that it had were sharp with yellow limbs and black tips. On the top of it's head there was a curl of hair that displayed it's position. It was NOT a Starly. It was a Staravia. And it was not happy. _______________________________________________________________________

For some strange reason, I feel that Lorcan should have a Torkoal. Maybe its the way you set him up, I don't know, also interesting chapter here.

"Bryce by my side!" Lorcan called out in a determined voice. He may be in a dangerous situation but, he was never worried while Bryce there to help him.
"Turtwig. [Let's get this fight started.]" Bryce called before leaping to assist his trainer when he was caught and tackled in mid air by a small black, white feathered figure.
"Bryce!" Lorcan screeched before looking back towards the creature that attacked in fury, before his face showed a look of hopeless despair. This Pokémon was a Starly. Another Flying type Pokémon. Bryce could, not very easily, but handedly take down that Staravia in a one on one battle. But to have to fight two flying types in a one on two battle would be a little more difficult. While his trainer was pondering the odds, Bryce had recovered from that sneak attack and he had unleashed a string of unpleasant curses towards the flying type Pokémon.
"STARAVIA!!! [Take your trainer and leave. This is your only warning.] The Staravia than made it's point clear by unleashing a battle cry of it's own. To the Staravia's disapproval Bryce didn't even attempt to explain the situation towards his trainer. He simply made a low urchin sound which was his attempt of a scowl. Lorcan heard the lurching tone in the Staravia's tone and guessed it's meaning.
"Look." Lorcan began trying to cool down this heated situation. "We mean you no harm. We were just looking around for something and now that we have found it we are ready to go." Lorcan felt somewhat guilty about lying to the Staravia. Than he tried to reason with himself that it wasn't a lie. They had found what they were searching for, and they were ready to leave because they had to return the briefcase to Professor Rowan.
The Staravia looked conflicted, Lorcan sighed maybe we can get out of here without having to fight after all. But, before the Staravia could reply a pack of fiery embers shot towards the smaller Starly. Unfortunately, the Starly was unable to dodge the attack in time and was sent down to the ground. Lorcan had an idea of what may have happened. He turned his head towards Nathan who had recovered and was currently standing next to the, now open briefcase. In his hands was a normal Pokéball, but more noticeable was the Pokémon standing right next to him. It had a fiery tail and a uniquely shaped hairstyle. Lorcan recognized it as one of Sinnoh's rarest Pokémon, Chimchar. While Lorcan was still observing the Chimchar Nathan started celebrating, "Hah! Take that you flying menace."
Lorcan wanted to do a facepalm right now but realized how unproductive that would be in this situation. He settled on putting a scowl on his facing and glaring at Nathan intentively, sending a silent yet unmistakable message for Nathan to shut up. The boy in question shrugged and replied openly, "There's no reason to be worried, dude. It's 2 on 1 now so it should be easy to catch."
"Her." Lorcan replied. When Nathan gave him a blank and confused look Lorcan elaborated, "It's a she. And if you think the other Starly is finished after one Ember you are being ludicrous." Coincidentally, right after Lorcan said that the Starly got up and started a current of cries that neither Lorcan of Nathan understood. Before Lorcan could ask Bryce what the Flying type Pokémon had said the Starly shot at Turtwig with a Quick Attack unofficially starting the battle.
"Bryce! Counterattack with Tackle." Lorcan called out instinctively. Bryce compiled and charged head on into the Starly creating a fierce impact. Both Bryce and the Starly seemed to take little damage from it. Lorcan looked to Nathan. Much to Lorcan's surprise Nathan simply nodded at him. Lorcan nodded back and they both set their eyes back onto the temporary battlefield.
"Chimchar, use Scratch on that Starly." Chimchar jumped into the air and struck at the Starly with its claws. The Starly swiftly dodged it leaving Chimchar wide open in the air. Staravia shot at Chimchar with a Tackle attack.
"Bryce intercept Staravia with Razor Leaf." Bryce shot out a flurry of Razor sharp leaves at Staravia. Staravia was unable to dodge and the leaves connected injuring Staravia's left wing.
"STARAVIAAA!!!" The bigger Pokémon cried out in pain. The injury wasn't fatal and it wasn't bleeding but it hurt like hell. It also was effecting the Staravia's flight.
"Since the Staravia is injured lets focus on that Starly." Lorcan stated to Nathan. Nathan raised a thumb in reply. They than shouted together, "Bryce use Razor Leaf/Chimchar use Ember." The two Pokémon released their attacks and connected with the poor Starly. It was knocked out before it even hit the grass.
"Oh yeah! Lets keep this going." Nathan shouted in triumph. Lorcan let out a small smirk before hearing a soft murmur.
He turned around just to see the Staravia glowing. Nathan gasped in horror and shouted," Oh no! It's evolving!" To Nathan's surprise Lorcan only shook his head and warned Nathan, "It isn't evolving. It's using Recover so watch out." Staravia stopped glowing to reveal a completely healed left wing .
Lorcan opened his mouth to state that two can play at this game when he remembered that Chimchar was still there and that if Bryce used that move they could burn half of the forest down. So what can we do? Lorcan thought. While he was pondering this he saw a shadow fall into the grass. Lorcan recognized the move instantly and before he could worn Nathan, the impatient teen decided to go on the offense. "Chimchar use Scratch on Staravia."
Lorcan's eyes widened at the command, "NO! Don-." But he was too late. Chimchar was already in midair ready to attack the flying Staravia. But, in a scene that made Nathan's eyes widen Chimchar's scratch passed right through the Pokémon revealing it to be a Double Team copycat. Before anyone could react the real Staravia shot out from under the grass and launched himself into Chimchars gut with a powerful Wing Attack. Chimchar was launched into the air and landed right beside Nathan, he was knocked out cold.
Nathan sank to his knees in shock. After pulling Chimchar back into his Pokéball he then looked at Lorcan with defeat in his eyes, "It's all up to you now." The words had been spoken with recognizable doubt. It was obvious that Nathan had no hope that Lorcan and Bryce could win this battle.
And Lorcan couldn't blame him, he was at a horrible disadvantage here. 9/10 times a Turtwig would lose to a Staravia easily. But Bryce isn't an ordinary Turtwig Lorcan thought. "Bryce use Curse!" Lorcan called out of nowhere, Bryce looked at his trainer with surprise. "Don't worry Bryce. I have a plan." The moment those words were uttered Bryce nodded his head and indulged himself in a purple aura. As he did so the ground under him crumbled under the added weight of the Turtwig. Staravia charged at the Turtwig ready to strike at it with it's Wing Attack. "Bryce wait and use Curse again."
Bryce once again surrounded himself with a purple aura. The Staravia, seemingly unabashed bye the Purple field surrounding it's opponent, continued to fly till it was only 12 feet away. Lorcan who was staring intensely at the Staravia gathered his breath and called out towards Bryce, "Now Bryce! Use Grassy Terrain and then hide in the fields." Bryce's eyes shined with understanding as he went from a purple aura to a green energy field. He then released the energy outwards in all directions. In accordance the grass grew longer and the sky turned from a clear blue to a lime green.
The Staravia was confused by this sudden change in scenery but she was even more confused when the Turtwig seemed to disappear. She still went forward unsure of what was happening. "Now Bryce use Razor Leaf. Full Power!!!" Lorcan commanded while making a swiping gesture with his hands. Staravia turned towards the voice of the annoying trainer who had trespassed onto her home. That one second distraction was all Bryce needed. Bryce who had ducked into the long, grassy fields unleashed his powered up Razor Leaf. It connected with the Staravia's under belly and the Staravia cried out in pain before finally falling down to the ground.
Lorcan turned to Nathan with his left hand open. Nathan who was still flabbergasted by what just transpired just blankly looked at him. Lorcan quickly become frustrated, "The Pokéball Nathan! Give me the Pokéball." He had attempted to shout his command out but, his scratchy voice would only allow for a croaky whisper. Luckily Nathan understood and with a shaky hand tossed Lorcan the empty Pokéball that they had carried to Lake Verity. Lorcan quickly took the Pokéball and tossed it at the fallen Staravia. It bounced off her back and quickly trapped her. The Pokéball landed on the soft grass. It shook once as Nathan and Lorcan looked on with desperate, exhausted, expressions. It shook twice. Nathan unconsciously leaned forward as the Pokéball.............
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
shook a third time before making it's signature clicking sound. Both Nathan and Lorcan almost collapsed onto the ground. They were pumped on adrenaline, rugged and overall just plain tired. They rested there for several minutes. Eventually Lorcan got up and started walking towards the Pokéball. He didn't get very far before Nathan had laid out his question, "What in Arceus' name was that?"
Lorcan without looking behind feigned an innocent tone, "Oh whatever do you mean Nathan?"
"You know what I mean!" Nathan said with surprise. "Your Turtwig used Razor Leaf which is a grass type move on a flying type Pokémon. An evolved flying type Pokémon I may add. Turtwig knocked it out in one hit while the Staravia was almost undamaged. How could that attack knock it out?" Nathan had never seen anything like that. He had watched a number of Pokémon battles at home in which Bryce never competed in. He had assumed that Lorcan's runt of a Pokémon wasn't very strong and that Lorcan himself was not very skilled but clearly he was wrong both times over. Turtwig had been hit only once throughout that entire battle. And even then he hadn't shown any sign of weakness. While he had fallen for the Staravia's ploy Lorcan had saw through it immediately. It was almost like he was a................NO! That is impossible Nathan thought. How could somebody who has never been outside of Twinleaf town be a Pokémon trainer? It's ridiculous. But, even so Nathan couldn't help but look in awe as Lorcan picked up Professor Rowan's suitcase.
When Lorcan finally turned back to Nathan he wouldn't take his eyes away for what seemed like a millenia. Nathan didn't back down and stared right back at Lorcan. Suddenly Lorcan tossed Staravia's Pokéball into the air. Nathan hastily caught it, barely able to keep it from slipping out of his hands he then looked at Lorcan with bewilderment in his eyes. "What time is it?" Lorcan asked giving nothing away.
Nathan opened his mouth to say 'huh' but, he recognized the look in Lorcan's eyes and he decided that this was not the time. He looked down at his poketch, a present given to him from his grandparents 2 years ago, "It's 7:30." He looked up from his watch towards the mysterious boy, "What are we going to do? We have only 30 minutes left till our parents wake up." Lorcan thought for a second before looking at his most trusted friend.
"Turtwig." [Why are you looking at me like that?] Bryce saw a small quiver in Lorcan's eyes and he realized what he was going to do. "TURTWI-!"[Don't you dar-!] He was cut off when the red Pokéball absorbed him back into his mobile home.
"You are going back to Twinleaf Town. I'm going to go visit Professor Rowan."
"No way!' Nathan yelled immediately. "What if you meet some wild Pokémon on the way. You can get injured or worse. Besides if you go now then you're going to be late! And you can't be late, not today of all days." Nathan's voice had softened throughout his outburst and he had finished at a whisper.
Lorcan only raised his eyebrow before putting his hand on Nathan's shoulder, "Don't worry. I'll have Bryce with me. I'll be fine, and besides. You're the one who can't be late." Nathan couldn't help but smile and sadly shake his head. "Alright than." Lorcan said after a brief moment of silence. "Get going."
This time it was Nathan's turn to raise an eyebrow, "What about you? Shouldn't you get moving as well."
Lorcan surprisingly just shrugged, "Probably so. Just to be on the safe side I'll get moving 15 minutes after you leave. That way you will be back in town and I will be able to slip by unnoticed." Nathan nodded, but before turning around he looked Lorcan in the eye and said, "Thank you." Lorcan lips twisted into a small smile before giving a thumbs up. And with that Nathan walked away from the boy that would end up becoming one of his best friends and his greatest rival.

Yeah. If you couldn't tell this was my first time writing a Pokémon battle, I think I did moderately well at not only telling the battle but the thought process. This was meant to be a long battle cause it was the beginning of their journey and of their friendship. The other battles will be shorter depending on their importance. Anyway. What is this 'day' that Nathan and Lorcan keep referencing to? (If you haven't guessed it already) What are they going to do with this Staravia? Find out in the next episode of Dragonba- I mean find out in the next chapter of the Nature's Child *laughs nervously.* Anyway QOTD: in your opinion what is the most underrated Pokémon of all time?

Chapter 3: Surprises, surprises and more surprises

Okay guys I just wanted to make a note here. I love writing. But, I know that at times my writing can be a bit confusing to others. I am aspiring to becoming better at describing what's happening in the story. So I want any and all feedback you have towards this story to be posted in the reply section below. Please do this because it helps me give you guys better content. Anyway let's continue on with the story.

Nathan slammed his room's door shut and leaned back against it with a sigh. It had taken him 15 minutes as predicted to get back home, but surprisingly his parents had been waiting for him. The moment he opened the door Amy Forester pounced on their son. Amy was 5"6 wearing a simple but beautiful lavender dress that fell all the way down to her knees. She also wore a pair of silver, short earrings and a pair of black shoes. "Nathaniel Giusto Forester. Where in the name of Arceus have you been?!"
Nathan had cringed when he heard his mother utter the words 'Arceus' and 'name' in the same sentence. His mother never used Arceus' name in vain and when she did use his name it was only at what she believed was the most appropriate of times. Obviously being nonchalant isn't going to work. Nathan thought. Alrighty than. Lets try the responsible son act.
"I'm sorry Mother." Nathan began in a fantastic rendition of a frightened child. "I was bored and I went out for a stroll. I know it was wrong, please forgive me." Nathan kept his head down for most of his speech but at the end he looked up at his mother with fake sorrow in his eyes.
Amy looked at her son and finally decided that although he was graduating today he was still a kid. "Well. Alright. We will discuss your punishment later. Hurry up and get dressed. We leave in 1 hour." She then stomped away to wake up the late sleeper of the family, Rick Forester.
Nathan was happy that his acting had worked, but he was mystified at how his mother was up this early. He pondered this for a few minutes before recognizing that his alarm clock was different. He didn't know why but something didn't seem right. The details quickly worked out in his mind and he gasped after looking back at his Poketch. He had set it 15 minutes early. Nathan slapped his forehead at his own stupidity. Not like I can do anything about it now? Nathan thought. He started undressing himself and found something producing from his pocket. When he reached inside and took the object out his eyes widened from fear and recognition. Nathan then slapped his head again and muttered a single word that explained this entire situation, "...crap..."

"Finally. We've made it Bryce." Lorcan said with relief. They were right outside the entrance to Sandgem Town. What should have taken him 30 minutes to get here had turned into a full hour thanks to all the wild Pokémon they encountered. They had not been as strong as the Staravia though, so Bryce had been able to take care of them with ease.
"Tur....................twig." [That's......................great.] Bryce answered after taking a few deep breaths in between words. As much as Bryce would hate to admit it he was also very relieved that they had made it to Sandgem town. on the way there Lorcan and Bryce had been on a nonstop stream of battles and honestly he was exhausted. Lorcan looked at the Turtwig and realized the same thing.
"After we turn this suitcase into the Professor we should go to the Pokémon center. But before than.................." Lorcan looked at his friend with a question in his eyes.
Bryce, knowing full well that his master was only caring for his well being sighed before nodding his head for 'yes.' As soon as he did Lorcan returned the grass type Pokémon to his Pokéball. After doing so he, with the suitcase in hand walked into Sandgem Town hoping to get this situation over with.
    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The lab wasn't very hard to find. Not only was it the first building you see coming from Twinleaf Town. It was the largest building in Sandgem Town. The memories associated with this place started to fill Lorcan's mind. He shook his head trying to get rid of the memories. When he felt he ready he took a deep breath and opened the door. What he noticed when he first walked in was the amount scientist working at their own stations. Replacements thought the furious side of Lorcan's mind. Why am I not surprised? Lorcan quickly stamped out that thought and walked forward, ignoring all the various looks he was being given by the scientists around him. He suddenly found himself face to face with the boy before called Lucas.
"I don't know why you're here but I suggest that you lea-" He cut himself off when he saw the brown suitcase in Lorcan's right hand. "Where did you get that?"
Lorcan resisted the urge to roll his eyes at Lucas' shock. The boy was a bit too surprised. "I found it at Lake Verity." Lorcan said simply trying to speed the process up. Fortunately for him Lucas' eyes shined with recognition the moment he said 'Lake Verity'. Lucas quickly composed himself going back to his normal calm state and after adding up all the details said, "The Professor may want to see you." Lorcan's eyes widened at how observant Lucas was his thoughts going 100 miles per second. Oh damn! the professor recognizes us, we need to run NOW! Lorcan's immediate first thought was. No. We have to stay and give this to the Professor. Besides its not like he doesn't know where we live. I rather get the reunion done now instead of him coming over to Twinleaf town and embarrassing me there.
That last thought was the deciding factor for Lorcan. He could only imagine the amount of humiliation and embarrassment that he would suffer if the professor came to twinleaf looking for him. All the other students would obviously assume the worse and spread rumors about him. He nodded towards Lucas, signaling for the boy to lead him. He could feel the scientist eyes bore into him but he continued to ignore them until he made his way to Professor Rowan. When he stood in front of Professor Rowan and stared into his eyes, the sound of hushed whispers were heard throughout the laboratory. After a short pause the Professor bluntly asked, "Hello Lorcan. How have you been?"
Lorcan nodded towards the Professor and answered, "I've been good." After looking around the room Lorcan continued, "You seem to have a lot of assistants." There was no hiding the disdain in his voice."
Rowan's eyes surprisingly softened, after clasping his hand onto Lorcan's shoulder he replied with a lighter tone, "I apologize for what I did and I am sorry for what happened all those years ago." Lorcan's eyes widened at Rowan's apology, yet he couldn't look into Rowan's eyes. His own was far away representing how he was deep in thought. After a short while Lorcan extended the hand containing the brown briefcase, "You left this at Lake. I came here to return it."
Rowan took the briefcase out of his hand and shockingly, bowed towards Lorcan. "Thank you for retrieving my briefcase. But, if I may inquire what were you doing at Lake Verity?" Lorcan inwardly cringed at this and looked around him at the crowd of supposed 'scientist' trying listen in on their conversation. Rowan noticed this and invited Lorcan into his office. Lorcan simply nodded his gratitude. When Rowan closed the door that was when Lorcan could finally sigh with relief. He took his time looking around the small room, noticing the ornaments hanging from the ceiling.

The cupboards contained research papers and other important documents. Lorcan choose to sit down before Rowan could ask. Rowan in turn sat down on the other side of the desk and wrapped both his hands together, resting his chin onto his knuckles. They sat there like this for several seconds before Rowan sighed. "Lorcan, I know that you and me have had our problems in the past-"
"You were my only hope Professor." Lorcan interrupted with a croaky voice. "My ONLY hope of living on with Grayson's dream." Lorcan shoulders shake as tears flow down his face. But he continues on. "He put EVERYTHING on the line to become a Professor. EVERYTHING!! And you can jus-just push that aside to hire not 1, not 2, not even 3 but over 10 freaking assistants! This was my only chance of making it up to my brother. My only hope of paying back Grayson............" Lorcan tried to go on but the tears flowing down his face made it difficult to speak.
I should have never told him to give up on becoming a scientist Rowan thought. "Lorcan....." He continued to cry. "Lorcan!" The tears continued to stream down his cheeks. "LORCAN!!" The mysterious boy suddenly looked up at Rowan. "I am sorry about what I said. You have the potential to be a scientist. If only I could grasp that potential I could have.............." Rowan awkwardly stopped and they resumed their silence. May as well get this over with Lorcan thought after a few moments. SO he wiped his face with his sleeve and began to explain everything that had happened at the Lake. Rowan nodded his head several times throughout the story until they came to the part where Lorcan had beaten and caught the Staravia. "Hold on one moment Lorcan. Why did you attempt catching that Staravia? Especially since you aren't a certified trainer........................are you?" Rowan asked after a few seconds of pondering.
By this time Lorcan had composed himself and was ready for anything the Professor could throw at him. "No Professor I am not a certified trainer. And as you have probably guessed me and my friend came out there ready to catch a Pokémon.............Of course we didn't anticipate a Staravia of all things."
Rowan wouldn't let it go, "You still have yet to answer my question." Rowan than raised his hand to cut off Lorcan, "And before you try to play dumb let me remind you I didn't earn the title of 'Professor by being an idiot."
Lorcan chuckled softly much to Rowan's surprise, "Of course not Professor. You see the reason why we went out there to catch a Pokémon was becau-" Lorcan never completed that sentence as a number of screams were sent of nearby.

    Chapter 4: A New Friend
Yeah I have really nothing of importance to post here. I just wanted to say thanks to the people reading this and thanks to RGGodzilla for giving me so many great tips on my writing.

"What's going here?" Rowan asked as he and Lorcan stepped out of his lab and into the town. The response he got was the cry of Munchlax who had been fighting against two other Pokémon, a Zubat and a Grimer. The owners of these two Pokémon seemed to be twins as they both had blue hair, they both wore a strange outfit that combined white and gray together. They both had popped collars and in the middle of their shirts was a G symbol that was colored gold. A scowl was plastered on their faces while Lucas turned around with a smile happy to see the Professor.
"About time you got here. I was pretty worried there for a sec-" But Lucas was cut off when a Zubat charged at him ready to poison him with a quick Poison Fang. Thankfully his Munchlax reacted quickly and threw itself in way of the attack. This unfortunately poisoned it leaving it thriving on the ground. Lucas looked at his Munchlax with complete and utter distress. He was able to mutter the word, "Lax......." before returning the Pokémon to his Pokéball to slow down the poisoning process. Smart move Lorcan thought. Pokeballs have a healing factor encased on the inside but it didn't heal the poison it only slowed the damage down. The Professor and Lorcan gasped before glaring at the two people in weird suits.
"The hell is wrong with you people!?" Lorcan shouted with unbridled fury at the two. The two looked shocked at his sudden outburst. "You can't just go and attack people like that. Thats against the rules of ANY Pokémon battle. Whether it be on the streets or in a Gym you do not do something so irrespons-" But before he could continue his rant Lucas put a hand on shoulder.
Even without turning around he could see Lucas shaking his head out of the corner of his eye. "Forget about it Lorcan. These two aren't worth your time."
"What do you exactly mean?" Rowan asked keeping his calm demeanor. Lucas looked at him before diverting his eyes towards the ground in shame. He then looked at the two with a cold rage Lorcan had never seen before.
"Those two are criminals. I caught them trying to harass two kids for Pokémon earlier. I weighed out my options and I tried confront them about it. They immediately went on the defensive and took out their Pokeballs. I've been battling ever since."
Rowan narrowed his eyes at his protege obviously thinking about how stupid a decision that was. Lorcan noticed this and decided to state a point, "Now's not the time Rowan. We got two criminals on our hands. And I can make the assumption that neither of you have any more Pokémon with you?" They both resignedly nodded in agreement. "Are there any Pokémon trainers here?" Lorcan was grasping onto straws here and he knew it. If there were any Pokémon trainers here than surely one of them would have helped Lucas by the time they got here. As expected they dreadfully shook there hand stabilizing a no to his answer.
"This is too small a town for trainers. Heck the lab here is only a temporary station for the Professor so it's not like there are alot of new Pokémon trainers coming here anyway." Lucas stated still embarrassed at his earlier error in judgement. Lorcan could obviously see that. Even now there was little to no people here, probably hiding from the mysterious robbers that invaded their home.
"I guess that leaves us with only one choice." Lorcan said taking out his Pokéball and tossing it in the air. "Bryce! By my side." Lorcan's face twisted into a fierce scowl as his Turtwig came out in not the best condition. It wasn't noticeable to most people but he could see the almost invisible lines under his eyes and the shallow breaths he was inhaling through his mouth. "We got a problem guys, Bryce still hasn't recovered from our journey through Route 201. You guys have any other ideas?" Lorcan then returned Bryce to his Pokéball as discretely as possible.
Before either of them could answer one of the twins began talking. His voice was croaky and slow as if he was pondering every word he said before say them, "You. yes you children. Give us your Pokémon and noyone will get hurt." As the two supposed 'children' narrowed their eyes at the crook the twin turned to the Professor and pointed at the suitcase still currently in his left hand. "That also includes you 'Professor.' Hand over the Pokémon and noyone gets hurt."
Lorcan wasn't surprised to see they had made the deduction of Rowan having Pokémon. It was well known that the Professor was delivered several types of starter Pokémon and he frequently had me on him for any situation. Unfortunately for them they just gave me an idea Lorcan thought. "Rowan open up the suitcase. But, do it cautiously and slowly as if you are resigning to give them up. Than when they aren't expecting it hand me the Chimchar and Lucas the water type starter." Lorcan did not like using another type than a grass type but he would make an exception for this situation.
The Chimchar was undoubtedly the best Pokémon for this situation. And with Lucas using another neutral type Pokémon Lorcan felt they had a great chance at beating these two. These two didn't seem as strong as they appear to be for some reason. Its there need to declare how strong they are Lorcan realized. If I was truly confident in my abilities and I was in their position I wouldnt ask for others to give me there Pokémon. I would just take it. As Lorcan considered this Rowan opened up the suitcase and slowly his eyebrows rose almost all the way to his forehead. "Chimchar's Pokéball is gone." Lucas and Lorcan both were shocked but they managed to keep their composure. Arceus damn it Nathaniel. Lorcan had obviously come to the conclusion that somehow Nathan had screwed up.
But even with the loss Lorcan was able to react quickly. He swiveled his hand lightly so that it was aimed towards the Professor. Lucas caught on and did the same. "ou go 5 minutes left." The other twin said. "Give us the Pokéball and we won't have to use force." The moment they said force Lorcan pulled his fingers to his hand and pushed back symbolizing for Rowan to throw the Pokeballs. Rowan complied, when the Pokéball made contact with his hand he and Lucas simultaneously tossed them into the air realising the Pokémon.
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Oh no." The Professor said. He had forgotten one very important detail, the natures of the Pokémon in those Pokeballs. The Piplup was fine but the other one was VERY uncooperative.
It was a small Pokémon with yellowish little feet attached to it's round brownish body. It had big, yellow eyes that had a layer of black and yellow surrounding it. On it's head was a spiral top. "Seedot? See-dot." [What the heck? Whoever brought me out of that stupid Pokéball is going to be put through a HELL not known on this earth!] Lorcan winced at the Seedot's choice of words chosen but he was extremely happy nonetheless that he had been given a Grass type Pokémon. Especially this Grass type. He had researched Seedot and it's evolution line for a project in his school. He had been instantly hooked by their natural survival instincts and its mental capabilities. Using leaves to polish itself was ingenious! He couldn't help himself from smiling and chuckling softly, this earned him a heavy glare from the Seedot. "Seedot?!" [What's so funny?!] The grass type looked on the verge of kicking Lorcan's face in when he continued to laugh. "Seedot. Seedot, Seedot" [I wish you insolent humans could hear me . If you could I would give you a piece of my mind.]
It was at this moment where Lorcan stopped laughing and looked at the Seedot with a questioning eyebrow. [Strange. The Seedot thought. It's almost as if he can understand me.......] Then something happened that he would never expected in a million years, "You want to give me a piece of your mind?" Lorcan asked with a surprisingly calm expression. Lucas, The Professor and Seedot all seemed shocked that he had been able to understand this Pokémon.
"How" Is all the three could whisper out before falling into silence.
"That's not important right now." Lorcan said roughly. He then sighed and knelt down to the Seedot. It was still giving him a withering glance but there was a spark of interest in those eyes of him. "Look I understand that you may not be too fond of trainers, but I am way too fond of you!"
Seedot's eyes widened at this revelation. To be quite frank he had had a bad experience with Trainers. Every time he had been offered to a trainer he had felt constant rejection. He wasn't good enough in there eyes, too weak, too cuddly, not the right typing. Constant excuse after excuse after excuse was used on him and the more times he was rejected the less hope he had in humans until he had gotten to the point where he wouldnt trust a human as far as he could throw them which was in fact not very far since he didn't have arms. But besides that point the fact that this boy was actually interested in him of all Pokémon was..............well shocking at the least. "Se-Seedot?" [Re-Really?] The Seedot asked.
"Well of course." Lorcan said. "I studied alot about your species and honestly I have wanted to meet one of you for as long as I remembered. I was pretty heartbroken when I realised you were native to the Hoenn region. Oh and that reminds me.................can I polish your cap?" Seedot's eyes widened even further at this comment. [He actually li-likes me?] Lorcan was currently bouncing with anticipation at his answer until he felt the glares of both Rowan and Lucas.
Heck even Lucas's temporary Piplup seemed to be staring at him. He then sighed and looked back at the Seedot. "Maybe later, if you want me to of course. Right now there are two criminals over there that wish to kidnap you and Piplup. Could you please, please help us right now." Lorcan than finished his performance by bowing to the Seedot. He hated lying to the poor thing but it needed to be done. I'm not lying Lorcan reasoned in his own mind. I meant every compliment I said to him. I just said it in a fanboyish way. It took the Acorn Pokémon several seconds of consideration to make a decision but he slowly nodded his head. Lorcan couldn't help the wide grin from spreading on his face. "Alright so here's the plan." He started explaining his devilish plan towards Seedot, Lucas, Piplup and Rowan.
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The two twins were patting there feet onto the soft ground in anticipation for the Pokeballs. They had been interested in those little kids and the Pokeballs they had carried. If it had not been for the cap wearing brat they would have taken their Pokémon in a snap. But at the same time the boy had dragged out Professor Rowan for them and had essentially handed them the Professor rare Pokémon. So they understood that they had been given a blessing in disguise. That didn't make it any more manageable to wait for their own Pokeballs. They weren't expecting any resistance, the Professor was little more than and an old man and the kids were........ well kids. What threat could they possibly pose to the likes of hardened criminals?............................They didn't know how wrong they were. Lorcan had asked the riley Seedot what his moves are and when he told Lorcan the boys plan became even more devastating. The twins were becoming very frustrated, which was a crucial part of Lorcan's plan. So when one of them started to open their mouths, signaling that time was almost up thats when Lorcan made his move.
"Seedot use Bullet Seed on the Zubat and Grimer. Rapid fire!" Lorcan commanded. Seedot complied and sent waves of Seeds at his opponents and the criminal gasped. Before they could send out an order Lucas followed up by commanding his Piplup to use Bubblebeam. It collided with the two Poison type Pokémon knocking them both back into their owners. The criminals rudely pushed their Pokémon over to the side and looked at the supposed 'kids' with anger in their eyes.
Before either of them could act Lucas sent out a command that would clinch this fight, "Piplup use Whirlpool!" The Piplup than somehow managed to create a gigantic whirlpool then threw it at the criminals. They had no chance of escape. The Whirlpool caught them making them go around and around in a spiral. But that wasn't the end of it.
"Seedot finish this with Extrasensory." Lorcan said with a smirk. The grass type complied by lifting the Whirlpool and the people and Pokémon in it just to slam the Whirlpool down creating a big splash.

Nathan had just experienced what was most likely the most boring 3 hours of his entire life. First he had to sit through a boring waiting session, than the boring speech, than the boring graduation ceremony. Heck even the after party was boring. But then again he had never associated fun with Twinleaf Academy. The Academy simply played it by the book, and that wasn't fun to Lucas. To him that was a repetitive and dull environment not meant for soon to be Pokémon Trainers. But nonetheless he had been looking forward to graduation because he would finally be given his Trainer permit and here he was. A solidified trainer with a case a permit and a Pokémon......................well two Pokémon.
He did have the one the school had given him as well as the Chimchar he forgot to give back to Lorcan. Lorcan. That.....................idiot. Leaving me to give the Staravia to Tracy and having to have me explain why. Tracey was wearing a formal Amaranth Deep Purple dress for the occasion. She had light skin and short black hair. She was normally calm and sophisticated with her dark red glasses, unless one of her friends had been hurt. Truth was it wasn't Lorcan's fault and Nathan knew it. He wasn't really forced to tell her the truth. He just didn't have the heart to lie to her..........................okay that was a lie. Truth was he was a horrible liar and Tracy had called bullshit for almost everything he said. She had threatened to tell the school he had stole the Staravia unless he told her the truth.
She is WAY too smart for her own good Nathan thought. She had argued with him frustrated that he had left Lorcan behind. They were currently sitting down at a table while Nathan's parents, her parents and Lorcan's parents converse with each other. Lorcan's parents tried not to be a disturbance to the festival but they were worried about their lost son. Everyone could tell. "What exactly gave you the idea that I wasn't going to question you. And what were you thinking leaving him there?!"
Nathan looked to Tracy who was looking away from him and sighed. "I wasn't given the idea as you say Tracy. I just didn't think about it at all." Tracey huffed and looked away. " Look I'm sorry I left him there but what else could I do. I wasn't going to drag him here. Besides if he didn't return the Pokeballs to Professor Rowan we would be in BIG trouble!"
Tracy's eyes flared and she pounced on the opportunity given to her. "What makes you believe that he EVEN made it to the Professor. He could have been killed out there by wild Pokémon for all we know." Nathan opened his mouth intending to interrupt her but she cut him off. "And even if HE IS alive he's probably stuck taking the blame for yo-" She found that Nathan had covered her mouth with his hand cutting her off. She narrowed her eyes glaring daggers at him till he pointed behind her head. She turned around in curiosity and gasped in surprise. She honestly didn't expect. She was so shocked and she was almost in tears. She was about to stand up and hug him when she saw the look on his face and she stopped in her tracks. Good news was that Lorcan was back. Bad news, The Professor is standing behind him. Worst news was that Lorcan seemed VERY angry.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to anyone who is reviewing or anyone who has been reading the series. I have so much more motivation to actually do this more that I got reviews. So lets keep it rolling.

There are many great quotes in history. Each one represents some kind of meaning, some kind of statement. Some are so complicated and so deep that it has baffled the human minds for centuries and it will continue to baffle the human mind for centuries. But, there is nothing complicated about the quote, "Hell has no rath such as a woman's scorn." And Lorcan was learning that at this very instant. After coming home with that scowl still plastered on his face he had listened to his mother as she dragged him back into their home with his father, Nathan, Tracy and the Professor in tow. He had than been given a scolding from his Mother in front of all his friends and the Professor, which he would normally find humiliating. The difference between here and a normal scolding is that Lorcan was uninterested and he honestly seemed like he didn't care. Heck he still likes he doesn't care about the continued scolding he was getting. He had even adapted to this facial expression by resting his chin on his knuckles and staring off into space thinking about what had happened back at the lab.
"S-Stay back!." The male of the two twins almost pleaded. After the Whirlpool had been slammed down onto the rough ground it had made a big splash. The two younger ones ran up to him and his now currently knocked out twin. They were about to restrict him and take him away to prison. He knew it and felt it with all his heart. So he did something he never thought he needed to do, he pulled out a glass bottle that had a Skull symbol over it. The contents of the bottle was of a reddish tinge.
The two young men suddenly stopped out of wariness, unaware of what the thief held in his hand. He adapted a grin onto his face, "Yeah stand back. Unless you want to become infected with the Lupe Disease." Lucas' eyes widened in shock which is exactly what the male wanted. But, what happened next was VERY VERY unexpected. Lorcan's eyes seemed to have transformed into a deadly shade of it's former green self. He grabbed the twins collar, twisting it ferociously and took the glass bottle out of his hands. He than spoke in a low, almost devoid voice, "What did you say this was?" The thief only whimpered under his grasp. His voice turned from devoid to suddenly a ferocious shout, "WHAT IS THIS?!" He said holding the bottle under his chin.
The thief could barely say a word under that dark gaze of Lorcan's but he managed to stutter it out, "I-It's the Lupe disease........" Lorcan said nothing for a long, long time. They stayed till there with his eyes looking deep into his. They seemed to be losing emotion. Lorcan then suddenly let go of the twin. He THUNKED against the ground and in a swift motion Lorcan twisted the cord of the bottle and threw it to the ground right next to the crook. Watching as he twisted away from the disease.
"LORCAN! Earth to Lorcan!" Nathan seemed to be waving his hand in front of Lorcan's face. Idiot Lorcan thought. But he simply stood up unintentionally startling Nathan and knocking him to the ground.
Lorcan ignored his cry of alert and looked his mother in the eye before saying two words that would never be erased from Luis Edison's mind. "I'm leaving."
    __________________________________________________________________________

.................................................Silence. Complete silence is all Lorcan heard after making this statement. Hoping to sneak away before anyone could gain their senses he suddenly stood and walked up the stairs into the room, not ever looking back before closing the door.
    __________________________________________________________________________

"What in the Arce-" Nathan began hoping to diminish the silence but getting silenced by that death stare of Tracy's. After another brief start of silence Rowan inhaled a deep breath before saying this, "Let me explain."
    __________________________________________________________________________

    5 Minutes later

"That's impossible!" Lorcan father said rising from the couch to his feet in start. Unbelievably to him the Professor simple shook his head.
"Unfortunately it's very possible. I never would have guessed that there would be a group sick enough to have created the Lupe Disease. But, there obviously is and they have somehow managed to liquify it." The others had all sat down to listen as Rowan gave a brief version of what had happened. Nathan was rubbing his head nervously behind his back smiling awkwardly as the Professor got to his involvement in the story. Luckily enough Rowan had assured the Edison family that Lorcan had made the decision to leave and that Nathan hadn't abandoned him or else Lorcan's father would have continued glaring daggers into the boy throughout the story.
Now Eric Edison was only looking at the ground faintly contemplating the story. The mother's eyes had widened as Nathan's face shown blatant confusion and Tracy bit her lips. They all know something I don't Nathan thought to himself as he surveyed the disturbed look's on their faces. The Professor noticed his confusion and guessed it's meaning, "The Lupe Disease was an illness that occurred throughout the Sinnoh Region. It's no wonder that you haven't heard of it. The cases of Lupe Disease at this moment are extremely rare. The thing about the Lupe Disease is that there is no cure to it. The disease spreads to his nervous system and infects his mind. The patient believes that he is in excruciating pain but the truth is he just thinks he's in pain. Eventually the brain can't take anymore..............and the patient dies.
Nathan's face turned from confusion to pure horror. Before he could think better of himself he asked another question that was boggling his mind. "Why was Lorcan so mad at this?"
The father's eyes burned in indignation as he lifted his head to start staring at Nathan again. Before he could shout at the boy Luis Edison intervened and looked at her husband with careful considerate eyes. She bit her lips anticipating Eric's reaction than after taking a deep breath made the suggestion, "We should tell him the truth." Before Eric could scoff at the idea Luis laid out her argument, "I know that you may not like the idea but we have to do this. It's not like we can exactly stop Lorcan from leaving. You know how he is. He'd find a way. So why don't we have two trainers watch over him and makes sure he's alright." Luis gently closed his eyes and counted to ten before opening them and giving out a heavy sigh. He nodded slowly and Luis turned to Nathan. "Nathan is it? Did you know Lorcan had a brother?"
Despite himself Nathan's eyes widened and his head subconsciously shook from side to side signaling that he did not know this. Luis gave a sad smile, "Not a surprise really. Not a lot of people do know this. So I must please ask you to keep what I tell you here a secret." Nathan gave a swift nod and she continued, "Lorcan did had a brother, his name was Grayson. Unfortunately, his brother was caught with the Lupe Disease." Shock was written all over Nathan's face.
"Lorcan was only 6 at the time while Grayson was 16. He would visit Grayson often at the hospital with the rest of us. Grayson would put on a big wide smile and he would talk to Lorcan. Listening to him and asking the occasional question about his day. It never seemed like he was in pain but, we knew better. He was just putting on a facade. He didn't want his little brother to be concerned for his well being. He made us promise to not tell Lorcan, and we didn't tell him. Unfortunately, he found out on his own when Grayson died." Tears were flowing down Luis' face and her smile had turned into a sad frown but she continued all the same, "Lorcan took it harder than any of us. He began to shut everyone out, even us. He locked in his room for hours on end doing Arceus knows what. Only coming out for the vital things such as food and water. It took three years for him to truly move on. Bu-But I'm afraid, I'm afr-afraid that this may bring him back to that solitary world of his." She was crying heavily only able to sob out certain sentences when Erik pulled her into his arms. They waited there almost frozen in time as Luis wiped the tears from her face muttering an apology. They waited there as she got her bearings back, "I don't know what to do." She admitted. "I don't want him to go on his own. He could get himself killed, but all the same he is of age to leave and we legally can't stop it.
Mr.Rowan coughed loudly but softly into his had. They all looked at him obviously anticipating something, "I may have an idea." The professor said.

    Chapter 6: Leaving
Yeah I have really nothing of importance to post here. Just happy to post this here.
    _________________________________________________________________

Lorcan was leaving, there was no denying that. The only question was which method. He had mulled over it for a long time last night. Lorcan wanted to leave on his turn, but he didn't want to sneak out. To leave without warning or prompting would not only hurt the ones he cared about but it would hurt him as well. He couldn't do it. But, at the same time he couldn't just wait around for his parents to allow him to go. He had to go out there. He had to find them, the ones that poisoned Grayson. The grunt hadn't told him anything but, he knew the truth. There was no way that one small group could just manufacture the Lupe Disease. It would have to take something more, an organization. An organization that was still out there. An organization he would have to destroy. No! Lorcan thought. An organization WE have to destroy. Lorcan knew his limitations.
He and Bryce weren't strong enough to take on the makers of the disease. He needed more allies, more Pokémon to help him in his travels. Not only that but he needed to train those Pokémon and himself to the limit. In other words I have to go on a Pokémon journey Lorcan thought. He would concur each gym leader. He would become stronger than ever before, and he would do so with ONLY grass type Pokémon. You were always intrigued by Nature. You spent years researching nature with Professor Rowan. Specifically Grass type Pokémon. The day you died I made a promise. A promise to concur this region with the power of Nature Lorcan thought. And I will. But, first I'm gonna talk to Mom and Dad.
So that night he prepared himself for the journey ahead. He packed the clothes he would wear the food he had and all the spare pokedollars. He took out the trainer card he had received today from Nathan. After staring at it in deep thought he pocketed it away. He looked down at his Pokéball. After he had his little 'moment' Lucas had made it his prime objective to call the police. While he did that Lorcan had tied up the two of them, one quivering in fear and one knocked out before entering the Pokémon Center. The only one there was a young Nurse Joy who was currently sitting at the desk writing some papers. Lorcan had walked up to her and had requested for her to heal Bryce. After she accepted Bryce's Pokéball Lorcan heard footsteps behind him and he realised that Seedot was tailing him. At first Lorcan was tempted to shout him away. He was in a VERY bad mood. But he relented. Not his fault I'm pissed. Lorcan reasoned as the small Pokémon waddled towards him. When Seedot lifted his head to look at him any iciness he had melted away instantly. He couldn't stay mad at this cute little creature before him. "Seedot! See......................Seedot?[You! Are you................are you going to take me with you?]" Lorcan raised his eyebrow at this revelation. He had never expected the Seedot to want to stay with him. Lorcan rubbed his clean cut chin, seemingly in thought. The Seedot was bouncing from what foot to the other in anticipation. I want to take him. That much is for sure, the question is can I take him?
Currently Lorcan was thinking back to that situation unsure if he had made the right decision. He suddenly shook his head intending to tear out any lingering doubt. He then took out a second Pokéball before letting both Pokémon out. Bryce came out groggy and disinterested. He had been that way ever since Lorcan had told him about the Lupe Disease. When the Seedot came out however, he was anything but disinterested. He tried to hide it but, it was fairly obvious that he was scoping out Lorcan's room. Not much to scope out. Lorcan's sarcastic self snarked out in his own mind. He wasn't gonna let it bother him though. He was honestly amused by the curiosity of the Seedot. It wasn't like what he had was special. All he had was bit of furniture, some books and the occasional Picture or two. He watched the Seedot intently with one eyebrow raised, "So...........what do you think?"
Lorcan's smile grew as the Seedot tried(and failed) to mask his curiosity. "Seedot, Seedot." [It's alright, I guess.]
"Oh really?" Lorcan said his eyebrow rising to new heights. "I guess? Well than maybe sleeping on my haymak will change your mind." As he had predicted the Seedot's eyes had sparkled and he had eagerly climbed into his haymak. It sat near the corner of his room, hidden from the normal eye. He had a feeling that Seedot, being a dark type would enjoy lurking in the Shadow's. "Hmn." Lorcan hummed.
Seedot quickly turned around to peer at him. "Seedot?" [What?] The grass type said gruffly wanting to get comfortable with his new haymak more.
Lorcan only smirked at him, "I think I just found the perfect name for you...................................................Shady. Hmm." And with that he went to his bed making a mental note to pack the haymak in the morning before going to sleep. Bryce cradle up to him as usual while the Seedot only stared at him confused. He eventually lost his curiosity for the name his new trainer had picked for him and he simply went to sleep.
    _________________________________________________________________

Now he was here. Lorcan had woken up early in the morning. He was anxious, he knew that it would do him some good to relax but for the life of him he couldn't release the amount of tenseness he felt in his body. He paced around the room before double checking all his clothes and making certain that he had everything he would need for the trip. After all he didn't want to have to redo the entire process right when he's about to leave. "LORCAN!" Lorcan's mother, Luis Edison shouted. "IT'S TIME FOR BREAKFAST!" After this Lorcan took a deep breath preparing himself for the inevitable. He walked down to steps, unfazed by his parents gaze and took a seat next to them. He looked down at the table, It was Bagel sandwich made up of ham, eggs bacon, lettuce, tomato. His favorite. Trying to butter me up I see Lorcan's mind concluded. May as well dig in while I have the luxury. He picked up the sandwich and started eating, aware of the stares that his parents gave him. Eventually he looked up and raised an eyebrow at the two they decided to ignore it and start eating. From than on they continued to eat in silence. Lorcan finished the sandwich, tempted to lick the crumbs off his plate but thought better of it and looked directly at his parents.
"Mom. Dad. I think it's time we talk." They both looked up at him with anticipation in their eyes. It took everything Lorcan had to keep his composure. He looked his parents in the eyes took a calm breath and started, "Look, I know that you are worried about me, and I'm happy that you are. I really am, but I'm not a little boy anymore that you can hide in your room. I am old enough and I have the legal right to go on my journey."
Lorcan's Father scoffed at this, "Legal right? LEGAL RIGHT?! You think just because some you were smart enough to look at a textbook and copy it onto a piece of paper that you are ready for the outside world? All that studying and supposed 'training' you did is worthless if you can't use them properly. And from what know you haven't proven to be able to do so. Now, may I ask you why we should allow you to go on your journey."
Lorcan seemed unfazed by this revelation and responded in kind,"You say that yet I have never had the chance to prove to you that I can survive. You have ever given me that chance." His facial expression changed. "Come on Dad. You know you can't keep me cooped up here forever. I know that all you want to do is protect your last son but I'm not one to just sit around while I can be out there living like he was." His father bristled at the words. He thought that his father was going to outright refuse when he did something that surprised him.
Lorcan's Father sat back down with a sigh, "There is nothing I can do to stop you is there?" When Lorcan shook his head Eric just blew out a some fresh air before saying something he never had thought he would say, "You can go. You can go on your journey." And with that victory Lorcan drew a small smile onto his face.

    Chapter 7: Traveling With Friends
This is the first chapter where I'm actually making changes. I'm pretty satisfied with the direction of the story and I am honestly happy with my decision to bring it back. Enough about me onto the story.
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________

"I should have known it wouldn't have been this easy." Lorcan was not pleased. He was currently outside the entrance to Sandgem town (Again!) Waiting for his friends to show. After he had gotten the okay for his father he had been ecstatic. His parents of course had set up a few ground rules for him such as having to call once a week and staying out of danger but Lorcan was okay with that. Well he was okay with the first rule, he felt terrible that he had to lie to his parents but for him to take out Grayson's killers there was no way he could obey the second rule. Lorcan quickly thanked his parents and went up to his room before they could change their minds. After getting everything ready and hiding Shady in his Pokéball he went down stairs and was greeted with a surprise. Apparently his Mom had been well prepared for his leave and had gotten out to buy a Poketch.
At first Lorcan was reluctant to take it, he had a gut feeling that if he was to take the poketch he would sorely regret it. But, in all honesty he didn't have a choice. The poketch was so that he could contact them even when he was on the road. It was another condition that his parents were forcing onto him if he was to become a Pokémon Trainer. What they DIDN'T tell him was that when someone called him on the poketch there was no ignore feature. And if he pressed another button it would simply accept the call. And that if he didn't press a button it would make this infernal ringing noise. AND that when you accepted the damn call there was no way to turn it off. Oh did he mention that his parents weren't the only one that knew his number and they weren't the only one on his contacts list.
Apparently, Nathan, Tracy and Professor Rowan were on it as well. So in other words this was the perfect parole poketch for his parent's to give to him. He wouldn't be surprised if their was an in depth tracker hooked up to it. Anyway the Professor had 'coincidentally' called him only a few minutes after he had left town. Lorcan unable to stop the call just accepted it..........after 15 minutes of that dreaded ring of course. The Professor told him to stop by his lab saying he had a big surprise for him. In most situations Lorcan would have just lied and sneaked past the lab. He did have the means to do so and he thought he could outrun Rowan if it came down to it.
But, when Rowan told him he would be calling my parents if he didn't come he knew that he had been trapped. Lorcan had promised to take the poketch with him so he couldn't abandon it and he knew that if he didn't comply with there orders that his parents would be calling him 24/7. So Lorcan accepted the situation for what it was and went to Rowan's lab with the intention of doing what he said. Now here he was outside the Professor's lab with Bryce beside him. He would have had Shady out with him but..............yeah. He wasn't stupid enough to bring the Pokémon that he had stolen into the place that he had stolen him from. He had returned Shady and put him back into the Pokéball. Than he had put the Pokéball into the silver backpack that was being held up from his shoulder.
"Tur. Turtwig." [This isn't going to end well.] Bryce commented. Lorcan decided to ignore that comment and walked inside of the stupid Lab for the second time in two days.
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________

He went inside hoping that this was going to be a very simple meeting. Of course he had to be wrong.
"Hey. What's up Lorcan?"" Nathan said with a backpack draped over his shoulder and Chimchar by his side. To his right was Tracy who had her Staravia out with her. He smiled at them despite they most likely being in the ruse with my parents. I can't blame either of them, my mother could be very scary when she wants to be. His thoughts were interrupted as Professor Rowan coughed loudly to get out attention.
"Now that everyone's here it's time to make an announcement." He looked at Nathan and Tracy briefly which gave him the indication that he's the only one who didn't know what this announcement was about. "To my knowledge both Nathan and Lorcan have already 'received' a gift Pokémon from me." Lorcan blushed slightly on his emphasis to the word received. He knew that Rowan could very well take away Shady and get him arrested but something told him this wasn't going to be the case. "I have allowed them to keep their Pokémon if they did 3 things. 1.They must stay within Tracy's proximity at all times. They are well her responsibility." At this Tracy just nodded. I can't believe what I am hearing. This has to be a jo-,"2. You will also have to take along my assistant Lucas. You see I have decided that it may be in his best interests to go outside of this town and into the real world before becoming a professor. It would most certainly give him a better understanding of Pokémon." Lucas who had previously been watching with no emotion on his face couldn't help but allow his surprise and obvious concern to show. He looked at Rowan who only nodded to him and Lucas slowly nodded back. Well at least I'm not the 0nly one who's surprised. Lorcan sourly thought. Okay. So I guess today is screw with Lorcan and Lucas day because there is NO WAY that this is happening! I am NOT a babysitter and I CERTAINLY don't NEED one! "And 3. All of you have to work for me." Okay now he has crossed the li-um...........WHAT?! "You all will be given the Pokedexes and you will go around the Sinnoh Region gathering information on each Pokémon that you discover. You will then show that information to me as proof of your work." Lorcan stood there looking on with a blank expression on his face. Nathan and Tracy looked at them with worry in their eyes. And Lucas was just sitting there trying to hide his obvious discomfort. This had been the best plan they could come up with. Now it was up to Lorcan to make the decision.
He only sighed. "It's not like I have a choice in the matter." All his friends smiled at him. "I accept these conditions Professor Rowan." With that he nodded and handed Lucas, Lorcan, Nathan and Tracy Pokedexes. He sent them off and they officially started their adventure.
    _________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Nathan what in Arceus' name are you doing?! We are going the wrong way!" Lorcan shouted accusing there navigator of doing his job incorrectly. This had been going on for the duration of their travel through RT 202. Nathan had been put in charge of navigating them to Jubilife City. Lorcan was meant to keep watch for any wild Pokémon that may attack and Lucas was scanning Pokémon into the Pokédex. Tracy was overseeing everyone making sure that Nathan didn't screw up and that Lorcan didn't run away. (There was honestly no reason to check up on Lucas other than Nathan complaining and saying her not checking on Lucas was cheating.) Right now Lorcan was arguing with Nathan, it had almost gotten dark and Lorcan wasn't satisfied with the progress they had made today.
"No we're not." Nathan snapped. "We have been going the right way the entire time. If you weren't so much of a damn nuisance than we may have made it their already." That was the wrong thing to say to Lorcan of all people. He was still infuriated with the Professor's conditions.
"A nuisance? A NUISANCE!? I'll tell you what's a damn nuisance. The fact that I am stuck babysitting the certifiable nutjob of a trainer that is standing before me!" Nathans face turned red with rage.
"Oh really. Well you won't be mocking this certifiable nutjob when he beats you in a Pokémon battle." Lorcan almost laughed at this but he saw the look on Nathans face.
"Oh. You're actually serious about the Pokémon Battle?" Nathan nodded and Lorcan's expression became grim. "Alright fine. We just need to find a referee and an open enough space for a battle. I'm assuming that you got a Pokémon from the school?" When Nathan nodded for a 2nd time Lorcan continued. "Than this will be a 2 v 2 battle. Now who will referee this match?" He was mostly talking to himself which is why he was surprised when Lucas suddenly appeared in his face. He had been the most silent on this trip.
"I'll referee if it only shuts you two blithering idiots up. And if you want an area to fight we can just remove the fireplace here and there goes your area." Lorcan and Nathan both looked at each other deciding whether not to take offense at the blithering idiots comment but they decided to let it go.
"Alright. Lets get this over before Tracy gets back." Nathan said. He than noticed that Lorcan had been miming for him to shut up. "She's right behind me isn't she?" When Lorcan nodded with a sympathetic expression on his face Nathan made the mistake of turning around. She was there and had her eyes narrowed at the 3 boys.
She then did something that shocked all of them. She took a deep long breath and forced a smile onto her face. "That may not be such a bad idea." When everyone gave her strange looks she just shrugged. "Well when you think about it we haven't really been doing anything other moving along the entire day. And since none of us have battled each other we should do a mini tournament. It would also be good for training all of our Pokémon." When she looked around she found that Nathan had a devious smile on his face, Lorcan had his hands up to his chin holding it in what she knew was his strategizing face. Lucas had a stoic look on his face trying to hide any of his emotions for the upcoming fight. At that moment Tracy had to question if she had just made a bad decision.
    __________________________________________________________________________________________________

The field was set, the referee chosen and the atmosphere prepared. A battle was about to start. 1 between the stoic assistant in Lucas and the energetic yet rash Nathan. Tracy was going to commence the starting announcements. "This will be a 2 on 2 Pokémon tournament with each person able to switch Pokémon. Let the battle begi-." Before she could finish the clouds that had been gathering in the sky decided to rain on their parade........literally.
Nathan flailed at this, "Oh come on! I wanted to battle." Lorcan and Lucas just raised eyebrows at each other in amusement while Tracy rolled her eyes unable to hide the smile on her face. Unable to do the battle in this rain everyone set up their own tents and went inside to sleep. Well everyone went inside to sleep except 1. That was Lorcan. He stood outside for a bit just looking up at the sky.
"Seedot." [What's wrong Lorcan?] Shady and Bryce had been outside for a good portion of the travel. Shady would normally keep and air of pretense around him acting as if he didn't care, but whenever Lorcan was unresponsive that shell would break and Shady would show his true emotions to Lorcan. It made the trainer want to smile. Especially when the two Pokémon played around with each other. But right now he couldn't smile. He was going on a dangerous journey. One that could put the others at risk. He didn't like it but he had to stop Team Galactic. There was a deep feeling in his gut. An unsettling one at that. He knew that Team Galactic was up to no good and he felt it was his responsibility to bring them down. Now the plan may need a few changes. It wasn't going to be the most fun of journeys. He then thought about all the jokes he had between Nathan and Tracy. The small satisfaction he got from making Lucas smile. Lorcan just looked at both Shady and Bryce before giving off a small yet heart-filled smile.
"Traveling kinda sucks doesn't it." Bryce and Shady both nodded thinking that traveling was annoying, for different reasons. Shady because while traveling Lorcan wasn't able to clean his shell today and Bryce because Nathan was with the. Lorcans smile grew. "But traveling with friends, well that's a completely different story."

Okay so yeah this is the more recent chapter. I have finally started traveling and in the end I feel so much more comfortable. Because I honestly just winged it for this chapter and it set up perfectly for the next one. Not the most exciting chapter but a necessary one.

    Chapter 8: Nathan vs Lucas
"Ugh." Lorcan said as he woke up from a deep sleep. Next to him were Shady and Bryce, both knocked out cold. Lorcan got up and took a bottle of water out of his bag a toothbrush and some toothpaste before brushing his teeth. He exited his tent silently not wanting to wake up his Pokémon or his friends considering how early in the morning it was. When he stepped outside he was shocked to find that Lucas had already gotten up himself and had set down a fire. When Lucas saw Lorcan come out he motioned for him to join Lucas near the fire. Lorcan walked over and sat down.
Lucas nodded towards him in greeting. "Good morning. You get enough sleep?"
Lorcan shrugged in reply, "I got as much sleep as my nerves would allow me."
To this Lucas raised his eyebrows at this comment, "The great Lorca getting nerves? I never would have guessed."
Lorcan looked up at him sharply but couldn't detect a hint of sarcasm in his voice so he let it go. "I may be great but there are certain things that people take advantage of when facing me."
He said it without a hint of fear in his voice contradicting his statement and only leading Lucas to believe that any of these attributes that can be taken advantage of are either there to delude his opponent or that he has covered these weaknesses. He decided to test him on it, "I'm assuming you mean your use of Grass type Pokémon?"
To this Lorcan simply smiled and shook his head. "Alot of people think that. But no, my use of Grass type Pokémon isn't a weakness alone."
Lucas pursed his eyebrows together wondering what he meant by this but decided not to pursue that thought. "Well I wish you good luck in your battle today."
Lorcan smiled again at this action. "Thank you. Tracy will be quite the challenge with that Staravia of hers. And I haven't even seen her last Pokémon." He was being serious with his tone before asking a question. "Lucas please don't take offense to me asking this question but, what are you going to do?"
Lucas looked up at Lorcan with confusion on his face. "What do you mean?"
Lorcan pursed his lips and continued on without a flicker of doubt in his voice, "I know what I am out here to do. We both can guess that Lucas is most likely going to challenge the Gym Leaders as am I. Tracy may challenge the Gym Leaders although I have a sneaking suspicion that she wants to be a coordinator. I know that Rowan had you come out here but, what are you going to do. And please don't say complete the Pokédex because although that is an interesting goal it isn't a full time thing." Lucas looked at Lorcan before thinking about this question. He honestly didn't know what he wanted to do. Although he did want to go around completing the Pokédex the Professor's warnings rang in his head from their private talk. Rowan had said that he had wanted Lucas to do something other than complete the Pokédex so he could expand upon his choices. He didn't understand what the Professor meant but, being his assistant he had no choice but to comply to his order. Lucas didn't know much about Gym Battling or Contest period.
The young assistant shrugged, "I honestly don't have a clue what I'm going to do. And at this moment I don't think it would be wise of me to make a decision." Lorcan nodded his assent to that. Before they could continue the entrances to the two tents opened up revealing a yawning Nathan and a vigilant Tracy. Lorcan felt two bumps on his left side and didn't even need to look to know that Bryce and Shady were up as well.
Nathan looked at the now relatively clear sky and smirked, "Nice we can battle soon." Tracy however was just shaking her hand before Nathan could even finish his statement, knowing what he was thinking. "I would rather not do a battle on a field this wet and slippery." Lorcan narrowed her eyes at this comment. Why would she care if the field is wet and slippery? Her Staravia is able to fly for peeks sake. Lorcan thought before coming to 2 conclusions. Either she is trying to trick me or her second Pokémon has to travel on land.
Nathan just looked at her with a scowl, "That's no excuse to not have a battle. Our Pokémon could easily evade the water. There's no reason not to batt-" His sentence was cut off by a loud audible rumbling that sounded similar to a stomach churning. Tracy, Lorcan and Lucas all looked to the source of this rumbling. Nathan only sighed and hung his head in defeat, "Maybe there is a reason to not battle." To that Tracy just laughed while Lorcan did his best to hide his smile.
Interesting fact about Lucas. He was a much better cook than he let on. When Nathan relented Lucas had offered to cook some bread and berry soup. He then rummaged in the backpack he carried and pulled out several bags of Pokémon food. How he fit those bags into his backpack and somehow had enough room to pack his clothes the world may never know. He handed Lorcan some Grass type Pokémon food while he handed Nathan some fire type Pokémon food. He asked Nathan what food type he wanted for his second Pokémon. At first he was reluctant not wanting to give away his Pokémon but, the natural responsibility of being a trainer and taking care of his Pokémon came first. He asked Nathan for some Electric type Pokémon food and brought out a quadruped, feline Pokémon resembling a lion cub or lynx kitten. It's front half is light blue, while the rear is black. There is a short tuft of fur on its head and smaller tufts on each cheek. It has large, oval ears with yellow, star-shaped markings on the insides, yellow eyes, and a tiny, red nose. Whenever its mouth is open, small fangs can be seen in its upper jaw. A black marking encircles its neck like a collar and there are yellow bands above its forepaws. The hind paws are black with spiked fur that surrounds the base of its long tail, which is tipped with a yellow star shape. Lorcan and Lucas took out their Pokedexes. Shinx. The Flash Pokémon. The extension and contraction of its muscles generates electricity. It glows when in trouble. Lucas brought out his Piplup and his Munchlax both of which Nathan and Tracy scanned before feeding them. he then took out four bowls and poured his cooked soup into them before handing them out. Nathan complimented him on his handy work which Lucas just blushed and shrugged acting as if his skills were no big deal. Halfway through the meal Tracy went over and whispered a few words to Lucas before he nodded. He gave her a set of Pokémon food that he couldn't recognize based on type and found that she was leaving to go to the forest. She made a quick excuse saying that she was going to poor more repel around the area which was contradicted by the fact that the repels they had stocked were all in lorcans bag. She quickly moved away before the boy could call her out on the matter. He shifted his glance to Lucas before turning it into a glare. Lucas ignored it until Lorcan took in a quick sigh and went back to his meal resigning to the fact he wouldn't get to see her second Pokémon until their battle.
They had eaten and rested. The soft ground had dried before them. The area they had chose had a few rocks there and a bit of grass that wasn't too tall. Lorcan sat in the grass a few feet away from the battlefield. Nathan and Lucas were both on the opposite sides of each other awaiting for Tracy to wave them off. "This will be a 2 on 2 Pokémon battle with each person able to switch Pokémon. The battle will end when either sides Pokémon are knocked out. Let the battle begin." To this Nathan smirked and choose to bring out his Shinx first. Lucas looked at him with a calm expression and choose his Munchlax. From than on the battle began.
Alright let's try to 'shock' them. Nathan had to resist the urge to chuckle at the joke he had just conducted in his mind before releasing his command, "Lets go Shinx. Open it up with Shock Wave." To this everyone's eyes widened at Nathan's strategic first attack. Shock Wave. Since Shock Wave was a move that had amazing accuracy and tracking ability it was a great move to use against Munchlax. There's no way he can dodge that move. Nathan thought to himself. The Shinx released a wave of blue energy from its body that went all around him.
Lucas quickly recovered. No point in attempting to dodge. But maybe I don't need to. Instead of telling him to run he said, "Quick Munchlax use Amnesia." Suddenly Munchlax stopped his body flowing with purple energy and then he twisted his head to the side. His eyes slight closed. The Shock Wave connected but much to Nathan's surprise did such little damage. Seeing the surprise on Nathan's face Lucas smirked a bit. "Amnesia improves Munchlax's Special Defenses allowing him to take less damage from a move like Shock Wave. Nathan frowned in frustration and was back to his rash self.
"Well than we just won't use those type of Moves. Shinx hit him with Tackle!" The Shinx ran towards the Munchlax ready to attack it with its speed.
Lucas smirked at this command. "You're becoming rash Nathan. Munchlax intercept with Zen Headbutt." Right before Shinx could Tackle Munchlax the heavier Pokémon put his head downward which glowed blue. Shinx ran straight into Munchlax and ended up getting bounced back. Lucas bit his lips before making a split second decision. "Now Munchlax use Metronome." Lorcan's eyes widened at this while Munchlax's finger twinkled from side to side.
Nathan's eyes had a similar reaction, "No! Shinx use Thunder Fang." Unfortunately Shinx was unable to do so as he cowered in fear at Munchlax. "Wait, Shinx! What are you doing?"
"He's flinching." Tracy said and Lorcan just nodded as she sat down next to him. "Zen Headbutt's effect is a perfect setup for Munchlax's Metronome since Shinx can't even move."
"What I want to know." Tracy looked towards Lorcan as he asked this question. "Why use Metronome. It's such a big risk when he could play it safe and just allow Nathan to charge at him more and more until he knocked himself out."
Tracy's eyebrows furrowed behind her glasses before she argued against him. "Well I think that Nathan's smarter than you are giving him credit for." To this Bryce who had just been lazily watching next to did his equivalent of a snort.
"Tur? Turtwig tur!" [Smart? Nathan's about as smart as a pile of rocks!"] Lorcan chose to ignore Bryce's comment and didn't point out the absurdity of that comment because there were rock type Pokémon that were quite intelligent. He looked at Tracy making sure to keep any contempt out of his voice.
"I can admit he's certainly made a better move than I expected by using Shock Wave at the beginning but that's his problem. Once his first plan doesn't work he simply rushes into things full speed without taking the time to scope out his opponent." He said it lightly only stating the facts. Tracy just sighed and nodded unable to dispute the truth. They than looked back to see Munchlax growing red and bursting into flames before charging at Shinx.
Tracy's eyes widened. "That's Flare Blitz!" Oh crap I may be done for Nathan thought to himself with worry.
Nathan's eyes shimmered before calling out to his Pokémon. "No Shinx. Counter with Thunder Fang!" Shinx's fear of the Munchlax however was overwhelming. Nathan could do no more than watch with wide eyes as Munchlax crashed into Shinx creating a field of smoke. When the field cleared Shinx was done and knocked out. Nathan looked at his Pokémon with sorrow before returning it to his Pokéball. I should have been more level headed. It's bad luck that Munchlax got such a powerful move like Flare Blitz.............. Nathan's mouth twitched at what he had realised. Well, maybe he didn't get THAT lucky.
Tracy put her head into her hands and moaned, "That was probably the worst luck that Nathan has ever had. He's one Pokémon down now and Munchlax barely took any damage.
Lorcan looked on with a frown on his face. "I'm not gonna say the outcome was great but it was certainly not the worst one possible." Tracy looked up from her palms and stared at him uncertainly. He looked at Tracy with a small smirk. "Just watch. You'll realize what I'm talking about." He then turned back to the battle at hand.
"Alright I can still do this. Let's go Chimchar!" Out came his fiery Chimchar. He started bouncing around, antsy to get started. Nathan made the first move again looking to play off of Munchlax's weakness.. "Alright Chimchar run up to Munchlax and use Scratch!" Chimchar started running towards the Munchlax while Tracy slapped her own head in frustration. Lorcan meanwhile just nodded.
"Alright counter with Zen Headbut Munchlax." The Munchlax complied but surprisingly was a lot slower than he was previously and was hit with the Scratch before he could complete his attack. Nathan and Lorcan both smiled while Lucas pursed his lips and Tracy just gaped in shock.
Lorcan looked over to her as his smile grew. "That's what I was talking about. Flare Blitz does alot of recoil damage to the user. And considering that move was able to knock out Shinx Munchlax must of put alot of energy in it. So Munchlax doesn't have the energy necessary to defend well. Plus Chimchar is faster than Munchlax.
"Heck yeah! He's too slow to dodge our Scratch. Hit him with it again!" Chimchar charged at the Pokémon and slashed again connecting with the Pokémon. "And again." His trainer commanded. Chimchar nodded and complied assaulting the Munchlax with Scratches over and over again. Nathan pumped his fist. "Nice Chimchar. Now it's time to finish this with Fire Punch." Chimchar began to charge up his Fire Punch ready to take Munchlax out. Tracy was ready to whoop while Lorcan looked at Lucas before thinking. Now what are you going to do?
Damn it. I was hoping not to reveal this move but there's no choice. Lucas thought sourly to himself. "Munchlax use Last Resort." And that was what he had been setting up for. When Chimchar had gathered enough energy to hit with Fire Punch Munchlax instantly released all the energy he had contained within him and poured it all out onto Chimchar. The two moves connected in a heap and exploded against each other. The fire type was knocked back down to the ground sliding a good few meters on the soft, somewhat wet dirt while Munchlax slid back and crashed into a nearby tree knocked out..
Lorcan and Tracy's eyes were wide now with shock and recognition respectively. "Of course." Lorcan said after seeing the move Munchlax used. "That's why he used Metronome. Last Resort is a move that can only be used after all his other moves were successfully pulled off. But, how in the world could Munchlax use that strong of a move?"
While he was saying this Tracy had gotten up and was checking on Chimchar. "Munchlax and Chimchar are both knocked out so the winner of this battle is-" She however stopped her sentence upon seeing an injured Chimchar get back up.
"Chimchar........" Lucas just watched as his Pokémon got back up ready for a fight. Chimchar turned around and smiled at Nathan. The rash boy smiled right back at his Chimchar. He looked up to Lucas. "We're not done yet! You may think that I'm weak. You may think that I'm a horrible battler, and maybe you're right. But we can still win this. Me and Chimchar are gonna win this whole damn thing and prove to everyone that we can battle! That we aren't weak!" At the end of this sentence Chimchar pounded his fist against his chest and started to glow. Everyone gasped as Chimchar changed forms. The glow diminished to reveal a bipedal, primate-like Pokémon. Orange fur covered most of its body, except for its ears, muzzle, fingers, circular areas on its palms, feet, and chest, which are tan. A small tuft of fur extended from the top of Monferno's head, and it has oval brown eyes. It's eyes have a thick blue marking above and a small red marking in-between. It's muzzle is short and blunt, with two small, pointed teeth it its upper jaw. There is a white ruff of fur around its neck and gold bands around its arms near its shoulders. It has five fingers on each hand, but only three toes on each foot. Its long tail has a red ring around the base and a flame burning at the tip. Lorcan was the first one to react before pulling out his Pokédex. Monferno, the Playful Pokémon and the evolved form of Chimchar. It controls its flaming tail to keep its opponent at an ideal distance when battling. Lorcan himself would never admit it but he was in complete disbelief. How can such an inefficient battler and his Pokémon evolve so much faster than a skilled trainer's first Pokémon when they have been training for 10 years! He was infuriated but, he hid it behind a calm expression. It would do no good to reveal his anger now. Also in hindsight he thought it was pretty shameful towards his Turtwig. He didn't need to evolve to defeat his opponents. Strength isn't determined by how big a Pokémon is. He heard a rustling in the grass and looked behind to see Shady who had previously been sleeping in his haymack beside him. Looking towards the Monferno who was now banging his chest.
"Seedot. Seedot See." [Hmph. He doesn't seem so tough."] Lorcan had to resist the urge to laugh at his Pokémon's statement. He then saw that Bryce was looking at the Monferno. He stared at it before rolling his eyes and going back to sleep. They're not even worried. Lorcan realised. They have full confidence in their ability. They don't care that he evolved..................so why should I? Lorcan satisfied that he had erased any emotion towards the evolved Pokémon looked back towards the battle.
Nathan was beaming in pride as his Monferno pounded it's chest in fury and excitement. It's flames were flaring more than normal due to the effect of Blaze. Lucas had recalled his Munchlax and whispered good wishes to it which was the custom of every good Pokémon Trainer. He had then put the Pokéball away and had now grabbed his second one before looking at the Monferno. Those two are something else. Able to survive Munchlax's Last Resort like that and to evolve. Heck they haven't even been Pokémon trainers and they seem to have this inseparable bond. Not as powerful as Nathan and Bryce's but still quite powerful. Maybe this is what Rowan wanted me to experience. I must admit that I didn't know Pokémon battles could be this..........thrilling. With that thought in mind he pulled back his Pokéball, "Bring it on than. Battle Stance Piplup!" His Piplup chirped happily before seeing the Monferno raised its arm and started shouting at the Pokémon. [You want to fight little boy?] It seems that when Monferno evolved it had taken some of his trainers cocky attitude with him. To his surprise the Piplup chirped angrily and started squawking at the Monferno. [I'm a fucking girl you dumbass!!!] The Piplup glared at the Monferno and the fire monkey had a sudden urge to hide behind his trainer. He squashed it and looked at the Piplup ignoring the pain he felt. He was not gonna show a hint of fear. He met the Piplup's intense glare with one of his own.
"So you think that you're Monferno is powerful? Well then let's how effective that is when he can't touch us. Piplup use Agility." With that Piplups body started flickering with purple energy before it started to move at an incredible speed. Tracy looked on in anticipation. If anyone can concur a type disadvantage like this, it's Nathan. She thought.
Crap. He's too fast for Monferno now. How am I gonna hit him with any of Monfes moves............THAT'S IT! Nathan settled on this idea before shouting a command. "Come on Monferno. Show him your new Mach Punch." His Monferno then began to move at a speed even the Piplup couldn't match. He race forward with a blinding punch in mind.
"Counter it with Peck. NOW!" He shouted off a split second command. Piplup tried to comply forming her beak into a longer glowing version but before she could connect Monferno's punch launched into her gut. Before the impact could carry her away however, the Piplup pecked her beak onto the Monferno's skull. They both were thrown away from each other. The impact sending them into the trees. Both their trainers looked on with utter determination in their eyes as Piplup and Monferno both stood up. The flame on Monferno's tail flickered, it grew brighter and bigger than ever before.
Monferno is barely holding on. We need to end this. And I know just the combination to do it Nathan thought showing a grin on his face.
That Mach Punch was powerful. We can't take that many direct hit's anymore. That's alright because one more hit should end it. Lucas matched Nathan's grin with his own before they launched out the last order's of this fight.
"Give it all you got Monferno! Use Mach Punch to launch you forward and combine it with Fire Punch!" The Monferno used the boosted speed from Mach Punch to charge at Piplup. He also wrapped his left fist with Fire ready to deliver two direct hits before Piplup could react.
"Shut them down Piplup. Use Super Sonic and then Whirlpool!" Piplup charged off a supersonic wave that stopped Monferno in it's tracks. The Pokémon held it's head in pain before it's eyes became swirled as he was confused. The Piplup than raised her fins up creating a vortex of water that she then launched at Monferno.
"Use the Fire Punch to burn the Whirlpool!" It was a desperate move by Nathan........................and it would have worked it Monferno had aimed in the right direction. The confusion had caused it to launch its fist at his own face instead and Monferno ended up taking the full impact of the Whirlpool as steam rolled over. When the smoke cleared the one that stood tall was Lucas' Piplup. And Monferno was knocked out cold.
Tracy looked at the helpless monferno and called the official decision. "Monfero is unable to battle. So the winner is Lucas."
So yeah my first Pokémon battle between two trainers. I wanted to keep it at a moderate rate. As for what Lucas is going to be doing I have an idea for him. Anyway I'm satisfied that I got this finished when you consider the fact that I am writing two different stories at the same time. I hope you enjoyed. Also remember to R-E-V-I-E-W! REVIEW!..................................that sounded a lot better in my head.
