The recent direct revealed the new champion of the Galar region! While we only learned a little bit about the champion, here is what we know so far: Spoiler -His name is Leon -He is seen around a Charizard, likely one of his Pokémon -Undefeated -The older brother of your rival -Wacky facial hair that doesn't match his hair -Other stuff What are your thoughts on Leon so far? Do you like his design? I think he looks like he could be a villain, do you?
Spoiler Leon seems like he may end up being 'questionable', but not fully evil. Like his mental process on something (such as how Spoiler 'Dynamax' works or tending to Pokémon) isn't the best, but he does mean well. I also want to bet that he and your rival Spoiler Hop will end up with a minor argument that you will have to fix. ^^
I like how he has a sword and a shield on his shirt. Nice touch. Random idea that’s probably very wrong, but he’s the evil team leader. Again, it’s very unlikely, but that would be cool.
The design threw me off at first glance, especially with his hair that looks too much like Iris' for my taste, but then after a few seconds I realized that his beard design reminds me a lot of Kotetsu Kabuagi/Wild Tiger from the anime Tiger & Bunny and I quickly grew to like his design. I kind of want him to turn out to be the head of the new villain group, or at least working for/with them. Partly because I think it would be an interesting twist but mostly so that Hop can have some sort of breakdown when he finds out about it which causes him to become bitter, jaded and overall more of a jerk, basically becoming a reverse Silver.
Ooh, that's interesting. I like the whole "villain idea", but I fear he'll just turn out to be a very average "nice guy" champion without much personality. I'm not saying I want that to happen - quite the contrary - but I think it's what's most likely at this point. As for my own ideas, I do quite like the idea of villain Leon, but I'm not sure they'd want to go that far yet. Antihero Leon who works against both the hero and the villain, all under the guise of being the Champion might work as a compromise.
I'm really unsure as to how his chara will play out, but I'm looking forward to it. Though, half the internet is calling him hot, and I'm not... seeing the appeal. lol
His design isn’t doing too much for me so far because of the cape, but he could be a fun opponent. Hard to say.
I'm not sold on his design, but I'mma give the guy a fair chance and wait with really forming an opinion till more is known.
I really like Leon's design. He just looks like fun. I really like how he's Hop's older brother, because maybe this means that Leon will be more part of the story than just the champion that you fight at the end. Like other people on here, I am also hoping that he is going to end up being the main villain or something. I honestly don't know if that's the direction they're going to go with him or not. I am a little bit disappointed though that he probably has a Charizard. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Charizard, but it seems super overused now. Alain's main Pokémon was a Charizard, and both Trevor and Kiawe in the anime have Charizards. There are so many amazing Pokémon out there, and I want to see more of them.
His design is too overloaded for my taste: His hairstyle and the Color of his hair combined with this cap The cape he is wearing It is just too much imo Also having Charizard as his signature Pokémon is kinda lame. Charizard is a really common Pokémon by famous Trainers: Ash, Red, Lance, Kiawe, Alain,... They should have given a different Pokémon the spotlight like one of the new ones.
