A thread for discussion about music coves; ones where you think the original was superior while the cover's terrible, and vice versa. In that line; a few favorites; Mr. Sandman - Blind Guardian, originally by The Chordettes. Just...drag opening, Pennywise costumes, a completely different tone with the song. I'm not going to youtube embed all of my favorites, but this one, you just NEED to see the video for. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5B9Ruqm_4BQ Gotta Catch 'Em All - Powerglove feat. Tony Kakko. I had to post this one on this forum of all places. Best version of the theme ever =D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xj1CXSR3HIY I Should Be So Lucky - Northern Kings, originally by Kylie Minogue. Look up her's. The difference in sound between the two is hilariously amazing. And a mid-ground cover where the original's amazing, but the cover's awesome in it's...um..own way. Yyyyeah, I went there. And a few covers where the ORIGINAL is better. Smells Like Teen Spirit - covered by Tarja Turunen, originally by Nirvana. Yeah, I didn't know she'd covered it, and I wish I still didn't. It's horrible. The mismatch is horrible. I'm a Marionette - covered by Ghost, originally by ABBA. I was surprised. I love Ghost, but ABBA's version of the song just feels more frantic and panicky and for the lyrics, it works. Over the Hills and Far Away - covered by Nightwish, originally by Gary Moore. Yeah, that song's a cover, and as much as I love Nightwish...sorry guys. Gary still owns the song. So what're your favorite covers and all else?
