Back in Gen 4, HGSS introduced the Pokewalker, basically a tomagatchi/pedometer accessory that you could send your Pokémon into for walking around and simplified battling without the need for the DS. There were a number of unique maps with special Pokémon in them available to catch as well! (The one I remember most was one with Pikachu that could know Surf and Fly! ) So, did you ever use the Pokewalker? If so, did you actually go out walking a lot and get those leg gains in? Or were you often like me and just shook the thing in a paper bag to cheat the system? XD
Definitely, and I still have mine! I had all of the walking areas unlocked, even Yellow Forest (where you could catch aforementioned Surfing + Flying Pikachu).
I might still have one or two somewhere, I even still have a file saved solely because I wanted those two pikas. Really wanted to create a team of six pikachu and challenge the elite four with them. Never caught the flying one (though I'm pretty sure I got the surfing) so it never happened.
I used it a lot, however I lost several DS games (hope I find them eventually) including SS. Once I dropped it in the toilet, but it survived. :x
I probably invested more time in the Pokewalker than in SS I wanted this Spiritomb so much, because as a kid I thought that a Pokémon without weaknesses is the ultimate force. But there was one problem: Sometimes your "Pokewalker Buddy" leveled up, but it didn't learn the move he would get. I needed to defeat Flakner with a Quilava lv. 16 with the moves Tackle and Growl
Man.. that and the pocket Pikachu were the OG Pokémon Go. I was so hyped for HG/SS. The whole idea of Pokémon walking behind you and being able to take your Pokémon out of the game and put them in the PokeWalker to walk them was pretty cool, but I didn't really bother walking I just looked up tricks to get steps without walking. Like Haunted Ditto said though.. they didn't teach your Pokémon moves which kinda sucked.
I had two Pokewalkers back in the day, but only one is remaining. And it still has a Manectric inside it! I never found a real trick or useful feature with it, but it was a funny little gimmick that captivated young me's eyes. I did even take it to school everyday haha
I never played HGSS ;-; But I do remember my brother used his pokewalker sometimes... he might still have it actually.
I still have it, but it ran out of battery, AND I lost the game cartridge years later after the Pokewalker ran out of juice
I have it and I still use it from time to time. This thing has been with me through a lot, including a car accident.
I used mine! Although I'd often give it to my father to take to work with him; he has a physically active job and racked up 20k+ steps on it in a single morning, compared to my pitiful 5k over a single day, assuming I was going out to University that day, haha. I still have at least one - if not both, and my mother has one too - lurking around somewhere, although they will definitely need new batteries by now. Sometimes I think about picking up HGSS again just so I can take it to work with me. xD
Not often, actually, since at the time I was too embarrassed to be seen in public with it hahaha. My friend offered to do it for me since she walked around a lot at work, and managed to get lots of steps that way. Could've sworn she lost it in the hurricane that hit us some years ago, but I just found mine in a container a few days ago......
No, because my mom bought one for me and then I asked her to return it so I could get the DP games instead...oh, what a fool I was I haven't even truly finished the post game in Diamond but I adore HGSS with a passion...
I didn't get HeartGold or SoulSilver when they came out, so I never got to try the Pokéwalker. The idea seems interesting and I'm sure I would have liked it if I had gotten the chance back then. Also, interesting fact: A study by the Iowa State University showed that the Pokéwalker was actually the most accurate commercially available pedometer when it came out.
YES!! All the time. I loved taking my Pokémon out, because at the time I was in middle school (?) and it was small enough that I could hide it in the palm of my hand and have no one see it. Then I was pretending to be a Pokémon trainer, threw it across my yard, and lost it in the abyss of leaves and poison ivy. : \\. I'd still use it to this day if I still had it.
THAT IS HOW YOU LOST YOURS? Man, mine just went the way of the washing machine. But, I enjoyed it thoroughly while I could. I had to walk a mile or so back and forth to school, so it gave me something to do.
