What this topic does is pretty much explained in the title.
I would love to hear the story behind your first Pokémon. Who was it? What game was it in? What's its nickname? Do you still have it, and where?

For me, my first Pokémon was a Turtwig, in Pokémon Diamond. I got the ROM-version of the game on the 5th of December (2007 or 2008, I believe), that's "pakjesavond" (present night) in the Sinterklaasfeest (that's kind of like Christmas, I believe these two are related somehow. Sinterklaas is only celebrated in the Netherlands and Belgium, I believe). Next day, I started playing the game. I already was a Pokémon fan by then, but I only had the TV series and the trading cards. Back then, I believed that the Grass-type Pokémon were most like me, so that's why I chose a Turtwig.
But then, Prof. Rowan told me that I could give my Pokémon a nickname. My English back then was nearly nothing, so I just pressed "yes". However, I couldn't make up a name, so without any reason, I ended up pressing ♀ and clicking "Ok". Great. Now I had a Turtwig whose nickname was ♀. How the heck do you pronounce ♀? I eventually ended up just calling him "Female". Worst part is, Turtwig was male.
Anyway, Female and I ended up completing the game together. I didn't really understand the purpose of the game back then (building a team), so I ended up catching lots of Pokémon but using none of them in battle. We eventually completed the game together, along with some Pokémon I got from my brother (by then, he also had a Pokémon game. I ended up training his Chimchar, which caused the Chimchar to like me more than my brother).
Nowadays, Female is with me on my Pokémon X file. It was pretty hard for me to make the decision to transfer him to Gen VI, but now I'm glad I did it :)

The first Pokémon I used was probably a Torchic on someone else's Emerald version but I didn't really notice it I guess? I payed more attention to the Pokémon I was battling against cause I could actually see their faces, so honestly my first real memory of a Pokémon within a game was of Zigzagoon, hehe
I was desperate to have one but it took me a while to figure out how to do the whole catching Pokémon thing, but when I did Zigzagoon was the first one I grabbed B) Lotad also stood out to me, I'm not sure if I actually ended up catching one though?? This was all so long ago, ahhh

Well, like my first Pokémon game I have more than one answer.
The first time I played was Fire Red, and I started with a bulbasaur. I don't remember much else, but about halfway I gave up and restarted. I changed things up, blaming my terrible luck on being a boy, and played as a girl. I picked Charmander, named it Dustin, and beat the game. A year or two later I played Diamond. My first true game in my opinion. I picked Turtwig, named it Dustin, while playing as a girl named Destiny (The genderswapped version of my name in my opinion) and beat that as well. I still have that file, though I can't remember if I advanced my original team forward or not.

My first ever Pokémon was a Charmander on Pokémon Blue in 1997. When I first got the game, I was debating Squirtle, but Charmander was just to awesome to pass up. The first time he ever fainted was in the Elite Four against Lance. I was so heart broken. I trained more than six Pokémon, but Charizard was always in my party. I never once boxed him. Six generations later, Charizard is still my favorite out of pure nostalgia. When he received a Mega Form, I gravitated towards Charizard Y as I feel has a bit better connection to his original design than Charizard X.

Mine was a mudkip from sapphire, i got really lucky with a girl and named her Kippy (10 yr old me was really original) She was wonderful and led my team to great victories. Her story was sadly cut short after my battle with Norman though, I got into a fight with my older sister and in return she took my gbasp and deleted my game :( I was too heart broken to restart it and switched to fire red pretty quick.
I later got emerald from my cousin as a gift and decided to give it a try. Once again I chose mudkip and was surprised to find that it was once again female and had the same nature and characteristic. It was the best feeling ever so Kippy was reborn and was joined by a torchic and treeko from sapphire to fight along side in emerald

First time I played pokémo nwas back when Red and Blue got released in EU. My first Pokémon was a charmander I named Deen and I used him through the entire game of course. I don't remember which other mons I used that time really. I even remember I taught Deen Cut, yeah my younger self didn't know back then that Cut couldn't be deleted as was the case with many of my friends. Back them I didn't care as much either.

My fist Pokémon was a Turtwig in Pearl. I didn't nickname him, since that was back when I didn't nickname anything. He's now a level 64 Torterra tucked away on my Y file.

He never left my party in Pearl, even though I never used him much, as his level shows ahah.

My first Pokémon was a Mudkip from an Emerald game, but that's not as significant as my first capture, so I'll talk about that. It went a little like this...

AuraKnight walked through the dark groves of Petalburg Woods, his cheery Mudkip following behind him. It was his first every journey, so he was quite inexperienced. He held an empty Pokéball in his hand, shaking as he and his Pokémon went deeper into the wood.
"I'm going to challenge the Gym Leader soon, so I might need another Pokémon... I don't even know what type the Gym Leader will be using, but I should be prepared anyway..."
Suddenly, a nearby bush began to rustle. AuraKnight turned to face it, still scared of what would come out. Mudkip ran in front of him, to protect him. They were expecting the worst, but AuraKnight's nerves were calmed when he saw none other than a small red worm; a Wurmple.
"Oh, it's not as scary as I thought... maybe, this could be my Pokémon? Mudkip, try attacking it!"
Mudkip responded to his trainer's commands, launching himself at the Wurmple. The little Pokémon cried out in pain as it was slammed into a nearby tree. But then, something odd happened. Mudkip didn't look so good, swaying this way and that.
"Mudkip, what's wrong?"
Mudkip groaned in pain, falling at the boy's feet.
"Mudkip! You've been poisoned..."
Then, a thought occurred to AuraKnight.
"Maybe... I could use it?"
The newbie trainer put down his Pokémon, giving it a Pecha Berry to snack on. Then he grabbed his empty Pokéball, and mustered up all the courage he could. He lobbed it towards the Wurmple, who was still recovering from the Tackle given to it my Mudkip. The Wurmple was phased into the Pokéball, the red and white sphere rocking back and forth until a small 'ding' came out of it.
"All right, I caught a Wurmple!" AuraKnight cheered, picking up the Pokéball. He sent out his new Pokémon, who was glad to have a new friend. AuraKnight pulled out his Pokédex and scanned his Pokémon, revealing it to be female.
"How about I call you... Ruby?"
The Wurmple smiled, and AuraKnight, with his boosted confidence, continued on through Petalburg Woods.

Anyway, this Wurmple got me through the game so much, taking the Beautifly line. Equipped with tons of power and spore moves, and Giga Drain, it was easily my best Pokémon. I still have an affinity for Wurmple and all it's evolutions.

My first Pokémon was a Piplup, back when I was first starting out with the series in general. One of my brother's friends had given him their copy of Pokémon Diamond, but since he never played it much, I got bored one day and decided to check it out. There was no competition when choosing a starter because Piplup was the only Pokémon in Sinnoh that I was familiar with at the time (I owned a figurine + a Prinplup trading card before playing the game), and I thought it was the cutest of the three. When it was ready to evolve into an Empoleon, though, I pressed B every time it tried because my younger self favored Prinplup. When I finally did let it evolve around level 51(?) or so, it was because I realized that it would be better off that way, and it didn't take me long to start liking Empoleon more after that. I nicknamed him "Bubblebeam"(?) because that was the one move that I always kept on him.

I sadly don't have that Piplup - or any of my original Diamond 'mons - anymore, though; there was a point during the Elite Four, right before facing off against Cynthia, where I got stuck in a bad situation and decided to "solve" the problem by resetting my entire game. After getting older and realizing how I could have fixed my mistake, I regret it now. :[ RIP, Bubblebeam, but I had fun on my very first adventure with him while he lasted.

My first was a squirtle in blue!
It was very reliable and I raised it up to a blastoise along with my team (that I forget) I was just 8 at the time so it was a feat for me haha. I also had a raticate that I kept and it was reliable too.

My first Pokémon was a docile cyndaquil named "SPITFIRE!!". He's been to Unova, and now he resides in Kalos in my Y game. He was a reliable battler back in Johto, but he was banned from battles after it was found out that he got to lv100 through the indulgence of illegal rare candies.

I got my first Pokémon game in I think 2013. That game happened to be the one and only HG.

I instantly picked the fire type because why the heck not? I got the Cyndaquil and I named him "Numberone" (I later changed this because I hated this name XD)

That Cyndaquil is a level 100 Typhlosion still floating around Generation 4. Never transfered him.
