The story thus far: The war has started, but Sefal completely dominated the battlefield. The tarots then all decided to team up. Selan then directed them towards a old house in the woods that would serve as their base of operations. The group then discovers items called relics, but only Selan has one. The group then decides to find their relics before continuing with their journey. SINCE THIS IS A REBOOT OF A OLD RP PLEASE READ THE STORY! IF YOU ARE A NEW CHARACTER YOU WILL GO TO THE HOUSE AND FIND THE REST OF US ALREADY THERE. PLEASE ALSO DM ME ON HERE OR ON DISCORD ABOUT YOUR RELIC. Spoiler: Rules There aren't a lot actually. You can interact with NPCs and control them, but not the leaders of Sefal and Nuhan. This is so I can keep the RP going and someone doesn't say something like "We're all gonna be butts" This is less of a rule but, please don't go solo. Interact with someone so that everyone can connect and it doesn't seem like we're doing something random. If you have any problems or don't understand what i'm saying, please PM me, talk to me in the discord chat, or put it in the discussion thread! I would be more than happy to change something if you think its too OP of me or someone else to be doing something. And the number one rule....Have fun! Spoiler: lore Basic Plot Long ago, the two kingdoms Sefal and Nuhan waged a long war for territory and power. The war lasted long and the casualties piled up high, with Sefal being the victor. This put Nuhan at a disadvantage for many centuries, now Nuhan is a poor country with little money and services. During the war, many magic art users in Nuhan developed "Tarot users" as a last attack against Sefal. These Tarot users had immense powers that some even believed to be demigods. Now, every time a Tarot user dies, someone else is born with the powers of that user. Sefal reigns over the land, with prosperous supplies and Nuhan is on the brink of disaster. Deities and gods The people of Sefal worship the god Harnkas. This god is said to have won the war for Sefal, giving them great strength and abilities. Some have recently been doubting the gods power and are against Harnkas, but most citizens stay loyal. Nuhan is very open and doesn't boast a certain deity or god, but Arnasas is by far the most worshiped god in the land. Arnasas supporters believe in peace and settling the war with words instead of fists. Certain houses worship certain gods or deities. For example, The house of Nrohaug worships the deity of money, Largosanite, since it has brought them much fame and wealth. Landforms and how they affect the kingdoms Nuhan and Sefal are separated by a large plain called "the great war". This is where most of the war took place and spans hundreds of miles. The closer you go to Sefal from Nuhen the more rural and less suburban it becomes. Almost all of Sefal is suburban besides "no man's land". This area is almost uninhabitable because of its heat compared to the rest of Sefal. A lot of Nuhen is cold, especially the parts further from Sefal, that is why there isn't a lot of crops to grow there. Sefal is mostly a four seasons climate, so it is very easy to grow crops for more than half of the year. Areas spanning more to the north become very hilly and at some points, can be classified as mountains. Most people don't live in that area, but special flowers bloom on some of the mountains so some people still live there to harvest the plants. Closer to the middle of Sefal is a plains area, this is where most wheat and vegetables are grown. The closer you get to the south of Sefal, the hotter it gets, this is why "No man's land" is almost uninhabitable. Only small very poor villages are there. (map will be posted in thread) More backstory and lore It is said two people long ago forged a bond to never betray each other, and explore all what is now of Sefal and Nuhen. They later formed the lands Sefal and Nuhen. They agreed to never go to war and give eachother goods from their separate lands. This peaceful time was happy for everyone and more and more people kept moving from different lands to the two kingdoms. The two people died and their children took their places. Some people doubted the new Sefalian ruler could live up to their predecessor, but were too afraid of death to do anything. Nuhen fell on hard times and couldn't keep up their end of the deal. They asked Sefal for help, but Sefal took the chance to gain more land. They attacked Nuhan during this time, but Nuhan was able to push them back, but not without loosing a good amount of land and citizens. After the war, the Sefalian emperor died from an unknown disease. Since the ruler had no children, the Kingdom had to appoint a new ruler, the current ruler. He was very kind and generous in his youth, but has become harsh and cold recently. The kingdom of Nuhan does not like to start fights, hoping to be peaceful with Sefal, but even 100 years after the last war the kingdoms have never fully settled their problems. Tarots and how they are seen While at one point Tarots were seen as god like, people aren't too fond of them now. Most Tarots live their lives in secrecy, only high ups in the kingdom know about their powers. Some Tarots embrace and train with their powers, and others want nothing to do with it. Tarots are not seen as "good" and more as tools of war, considering how they became. Anyone can be a Tarot, but around the age of 2-3 Tarots start showing special "Tarot marks" on their body, it shows what card they are and usually are relatively tiny(they can fit on your hand). Tarots with "unknown" powers (the Sun, Judgement, etc) have always been born with different powers and never have the same power as their predecessors. Tarots with "known" powers (The chariot, the Fool etc) always have the same power.
Chapter 1:The relics Aurora, Enya, Nerus, and Selan were all in a old house away from the fighting. They needed to escape from the war and figure out what was really happening. The 4 of them had no clue what to do. Selan was well versed in the area and knew of a small house they could take refuge in for the time being. The group then went to the house to try and flee from the battle. Little did they know they would be meeting 5 new tarots very soon...
"That wasn't what I had expected. That total domination of Sefal in the fights. Even with the Tarots on their side, they should have had more trouble." Enya commented as they sped through the forest going to the little house Selan said she knew. The structure came into sight soon enough and she stopped running, wary of any pursuers or the fact that the house could have been trapped. "Blue Stripe, I am going to check the house before we go in. Keep an eye on the forest line." She commanded before she went into the house to make sure it was safe to be used as a shelter for the time being. She could see that the other girls probably hadn't had much experience in the art of combat and they needed to rest soundly. That said though, Enya winched at the wound that she had gotten from the fight and just gritted her teeth as she sneaked around the lower floor of the house. When she was satisfied it was safe, she returned outside. "It is safe, we can use this to rest before we make any more plans." She crossed her arms as she leaned against the doorpost.
Lucifuge walked through the forest, hoping to find some shelter. He had seen that the sky was growing dark, and the weather would soon take a turn for the worse. He was alone, but then again, he really wasn't one for company and small talk either. Lucifuge shivered, and pulled his cloak closer to his body for added protection. He noticed a building in the far distance and approached it. As he neared the entrance, he noticed a few people standing near the doorway. "Oh goody," Lucifuge thought to himself, and sighed deeply. "Just what I needed, more people around. Best not to take any risks..." By that time, Lucifuge stood quite close to the building, and a shadowy blob arose from the ground. It pulsated and twitched, as though it was a living thing, and took the shape of a woman in a black dress with a mask. It grinned widely and its eyes glowed a sickening green. "G'day. Mind if I take shelter here?" Lucifuge asked bluntly while the shadowy lady held a gloved hand in front of her widely grinning mouth. But, it was unclear whether that was meant as a sign of courtesy or mockery.
Scoffing as he heard the ice user's order, Nerus drew an arrow and readied himself to fire by lowering himself to one knee and drawing back his bowstring. "Yes, your majesty," The Hermit grumbled beneath his breath, his blue eyes growing hard as he focused on the treeline. Slowly he began to tune out the world around him, only feeling the wind as it breezed past him, its light touches keeping him grounded to reality. Despite his complaints, Nerus was truly thankful for having a job to focus on, it would keep him distracted. Distracted from the thoughts of the nation he called home being slaughtered in the war, a nation he betrayed. 'No, not betrayed. I'm saving them' He harshly reminded himself, his muscles tensing as he heard the Fool tarot returning from her survey of their safe-haven. 'Tch, some haven if we're discovered it'll be a hell of a time to get out. I suppose I can thank some deity out there that they're only four of us.' Just as he thought this, he picked up the sound of footsteps. Spinning to face in the direction of their source, he stared blankly at whatever monstrosity was in front of him. "What in the hell is that?" He questioned in shock, his bow drawn tight and ready to fire.
The stomps of heavy boots echoed through the forest. Elreen had run far now, and decided it was time to calm down. He shed ordinance from himself--helmet, cape, and saber. All that he had left to be recognized by was his Sefal armor with its characteristic, yellow cloth lining. His ears throbbed from blood pounding in his head, and he groaned. A run like that was exhausting, despite his physical readiness. Maybe he was getting older. With age came lack of attention, it seemed. Plodding through the forest, he came to a clearing and suddenly stopped when he was met with a cold, killing intent. Before him was a man with long, black and blue hair, knelt down, bow drawn, the shaft of an arrow pointed straight at Elreen's unprotected skull. Seeking peace and life, Elreen raised his arms. "Hold!" he shouted frantically. "I come in peace!"
Nathan ran through the forest, hoping to get away from the disaster that had befallen onto him. He looks up into the sky, noticing that it was getting dark. He had to get out of this forest or find some shelter, fast. Normally, he would surf using the earth beneath him, but that wont be posible in this forest, there are too many trees. His armor was very beat up, but it still held use to him. Its brought him this far, it'll be able to last a bit longer. He came close to a clearing, quickly noticing a man with golden blond hair and Sefal armor. He was about to walk up and greet him, but he stoped when the man shouted something along the lines of him comming in peace. Nathan took a closer look at the clearing, now noticing a man pointing a bow towards the blond individual. Nathan quickly hides behind a tree and waits to see how things played out. If things whent south, he would have to perform a quick hit and run to rescue the beat up, looking individual.
Selan was hiding in the house when she heard someone around the house. "Enya, did you hear that? I think someones here...what if its a soldier?" Selan tried to be as quiet as possible encase it was a enemy. She quickly poked her head out the window. She could see Nerus with his bow ready. She was about to intervene, but a strange man in feathers was at the door. "Ah!" She was surprised by his sudden appearance. "A-are you also a tarot user?" She wasnt sure if she should let the man in so she looked at Enya, hoping for some sort of approval.
Lucifuge yawned a little and turned his gaze towards the raven-haired girl. He clicked his tongue in slight annoyance. "A Tarot?" he thought. "How long has it been since anyone has called me a Tarot...?" Lucifuge pointed at the Vanitas, who had already walked over to the doorway and held it open for its summoner with a lowered head. "These empty beings arise whenever I wish for them to do so. Doesn't that sound familiar?" he asked as he shrugged slightly. "But if you'd like for me to elaborate, I should prefer to do so inside."
Ignatius rushed through the woods, bumping into trees as he went. He had one hand clutched tightly around his trusty walking stick that had served him well for... how long had it been now? His other hand he clenched his injured head. He wore a set of dark robes of a nondescript fashion over a set of light armor plating, equally devoid of any identifying features. Two swords were sheathed at his belt, one a saber and the other a broadsword. Ignatius couldn't remember what had caused the injury. In fact, he couldn't remember anything save for his name and that there was somewhere he needed to be. As he continued through the forest, what seemed like a small shack came into view, though it was hard to tell as his eyesight seemed rather blurry, which he assumed was due to his injury. He made his way towards the building, but crashed into the back wall and fell back down to the ground, blacking out for a moment.
Aurora was laying back above the dusty floor not wanted to get incredibly dirty. She floated there gently, her hair a few inches from the floor. Her big questioning eyes staring at the door, the man at the door open rubbing her the wrong way. "Are we sure we want to let in someone like him" her higher voice carried through the still stale air. The feathers donned on her arms were sharp and on edge, she sat up and locked eyes with the man for a mere moment, she straightened out her dress and let her self back onto the floor. She walked to the door quickly and offered her hand out "Hello there, nice to meet you sir" She smiled at him, her blue and purple eyes looking him over for more detail.
"Aurora, Selan, go back inside now." Enya growled almost as she glared at all the people that had stumbled on the little house. Unsheathing her daggers, she took a defensive stance and stood in front of the door opening hiding the girls behind her. Her powers started leaking out of her in a display of domination and anger. The wood was starting to turn white with frost. "I cannot trust any of you to not be here send to kill us. Unless you give me some proof, I will not let you enter this house or encourage Blue Stripe to lower his bow." She turned to the Sefalian soldier that had entered the clearing. "You especially need to be very wary and not make a wrong move. We came from the same battle field you did."
Lucifuge rolled his eyes slightly and sighed again. This frosty lass had a short temper and he didn't trust her one bit either. "Fine, so much for being all mysterious-like. Name's Lucifuge, but Lufu will do." he said disinterestedly. "I'm number XIII, otherwise known as Death. As for evidence...," he continued as another shadowy blob rose from the ground. This one manifested itself as a black-clothed male, also wearing a mask and with the same glowing green eyes and eerie grin. "... I suppose that should suffice. These empty beings are the Vanitas, by the way. Don't bother speaking to them, they're mute." Lufu continued. "And judging from the way your powers seem to easily turn this forest into a winter wonderland, I'll need you to prove your intentions as well." he spoke coldly and pointed at the female Vanitas who had already opened the door. Its left hand had been transformed by shadows into a long, sword-like appendage, aimed at Enya's back. But, the strange creature didn't move or attempt to stab her. It just stood motionless, with a mocking grin on its face and frost on the edge of its dress. "And I should think that by grace of this Vanitas not harming you right now is enough proof of my intentions as well." he finished. "Are you satisfied?"
"I am not satisfied." Enya spat. "You have your construct in a position to harm me and those under my protection, while I haven't made an attempt to attack you. Trust me, if I wanted to harm you I would not have stood here and demanded answers." She didn't move aside from talking, wary of the construct that had a sword to her back. "We just came from a slaughter, I think that me taking precautions is only wise in these barren circumstances." She spat at Lucifuge. Seriously, had this weirdo managed to miss the entire confrontation? It didn't matter. She had charges to protect and she would continue to do so. "Dismiss your 'Vanitas" and I will swear that I will not harm you unless you harm my companions. I am not promising anything about the others."
"I suggest you listen to her stranger," Nerus growled out, a small amount of electricity beginning to crackle along the shaft of his arrow, "To not do so will give me cause to end you." Turning his gaze to the Sefalian soldier, "As for you, even if you claim to come in peace I do not see you introducing yourself, do so and I may not harm you." Narrowing his eyes, his gaze returned to the apparent tarot, his eyes and aim focused on the man's exposed throat. "Release her, and step away from them. Now!" The Hermit commanded, the electricity along his arrow growing more volatile with his temper.
Elreen kept his hands raised as he surveyed the situation. Less experienced men might have called this all magic and necromancy. But he knew what this was; he'd heard many stories. He lived them himself. "You're all tarots then? Splendid," he said. He snapped his fingers with almost explosive sound. "The name's Elreen Rexel, Sefal military sergeant. I led the front line of troops in the fifth division of..." He noticed the man called "Blue Stripe" was unamused. "Uh... former sergeant," he said, trying to entreat the man to spare his life. "Sorry if I took a stab at you in that fight. It's a bit of a long story, to be honest, but I bear you no ill will. I'm a Tarot as well."
"A tarot huh? So we have two tarots just suddenly appearing?" Glancing at the ice user, Nerus smirked, "Tell me Ice Witch, what are the odds of that happening?" The archer asked sarcastically, "And we've even got a former sergeant of Sefal." Suddenly the smirk left his lips as he stared down the former sergeant, his eyes as cold as ice, "Forgive me if I doubt your explanation, even if you're a tarot I don't see a reason to trust you. Both of you."
"The chances are really small. Besides, he wasn't at the pre battle meeting I had with the King and Aurora. Which is really suspicious." She looked at the Hermit Tarot with a hard look on her face. "I suggest knocking him out for now and we will decide what to do with him later. I can't exactly move at the moment. Bit busy not getting stabbed in the back." She had no love for her countrymen and it was too coincidental that one of the Tarots had already been in the army. Why hadn't he been at the meeting if he was one?
Hearing the suggestion, Nerus nodded in agreement. "So you know, I'm sorry about this." Nerus apologized, before releasing the arrow. The projectile shot through the air with the electricity wrapped around it crackling almost in excitement. As it pierced the ground beneath the sergeant's feet, the electricity shot upwards with a loud crack. The bolts slammed into the armour covering the individual and by traveling through the metal it applied enough of a shock to send its victim into unconsciousness. The moment the arrow collided with the ground, and as the electricity shot out, Nerus smirked. "I lied."
Watching from behind the trees, Nathan watch the whole scene play before him. Watching the blond individual fall unconscious, Nathan had to come up with and idea and fast. But since he didnt work well underpressure, he had made a completely careless mistake. He jumped out of from behind thr tree running into the clearing. "Stop!" Nathan shouted, running untill he stood in between the unconscious man and the man with the bow. Quickly, he pulled out his war hammer from his back, holding on to the grip. "What are your intentions with this man!?" He shouted again.
