Where do you prefer to watch movies? Where do actually watch movies more at? At an actual movie theater or at home? Why?

It's been probably more than a year since I've been to the movies. I don't even watch movies that often anymore, but when I do I'll probably watch them at home on my laptop or Xbox.

Going to the theaters is way too much money all things considered, but I'll still go occasionally!

Though honestly, I can get oddly claustrophobic in theaters sometimes. I don't know why, sometimes I feel trapped in them and get really anxious. :/ This happens like 30% of the time I go, idk what it is.

I do think I usually prefer movies at home, as I can watch it with dinner or something, at my own time (able to pause it etc when I need to), and I don't really mind movies being on a smaller screen or anything. Plus it's always a LOT cheaper, so I feel less guilty in that regard, too.

Sometimes though, if I'm really excited about a movie, I'll want to go see it in theaters before it is released on DVD or whatever. For example, the Hobbit movies - I've been extremely keen on going to each of those ASAP. They're such beautiful movies so the big screen does them more justice, and I grew up with my dad taking me to the LotR movies several times each when they came out, so it means a lot to me on a personal level, too.

I love watching movies at the cinemas, especially action movies like [insert Marvel movie here]. However, I prefer watching from the comfort of home with the ability to pause the movie whenever I want to. The thing I love about the cinemas though is that I don't get people's running commentary on what just happened in Good Morning Vietnam when I just want to watch the bloody movie already...

I like both, but watching at home is much more convenient and their aren't many movies that I'd prefer watching in cinemas.

At home, I can't stand places like the theater were there's a lot of people and loud sounds.

At home for sure. Chillin' out at home, eating food and eating it as loudly as possible with no one to complain. So much more comfortable and relaxing.

If it's a movie I'm super hyped for and I know will be brilliant in theaters, I'll go see it. Like Captain America 2 or Avengers 2. There's just something that feels better watching those superhero movies on a giant screen surrounded by loud noises.

Otherwise I'll just rent it or watch it online.

Easy: Theater if you're with friends, at home if you're just by yourself. Well, of course you can also watch a movie at home with some friends, but you don't really go to a theater alone, right?

I like going to the theater with a friend and such, especially if it's a movie I want to see right now, but at home is definitely the place for me!

The theater experience is definitely much better but I prefer watching from the comfort of my own home. Theater can be a bit.. loud sometimes. Silently watching by myself while on my bed is just the best.

Theater, because there's nothing like spending $8 in order to hear people talk or text while the movie's playing and another $10 or so for a small popcorn and small drink.

Facetious response aside, I actually do like going to the theater and don't mind spending money on popcorn + drink (plus you can get combos that'll be cheaper than if you purchase the two separately), but it's also nice watching movies at home as well. I tend to watch more at home, and that's pretty much due to the fact my parents own a bazillion DVDs (a perk of not having TV channels). Once I have enough to reactivate my Netflix account, I'll have that for movie viewing, too.

Most of the movies I like to watch don't play in theaters.
Namely, old Studio Ghibli films and the such, like Spirited Away or Castle in the Sky.

So it's at home for me.

I don't watch movies all that much, so I watch mostly at home, and I prefer it that way. However, if there's a new movie coming out in theaters that I'm really interested in, I'll go ahead and spend my money on tickets and concessions to see that movie. It's actually quite a fun experience going to the movies, though, if the movie you're seeing is particularly good.

Personally I think I enjoy it more when I watch it in the cinema due to the darkness and sound system. But more often than not I have been watching movies at home since my family and I cannot stand how people behave in cinemas what with their loud, uncontrollable children (we went for a movie that ended around midnight and it PG13 and there was a freaking baby! and a young child!) as well as people using their gadgets which is hugely annoying.

However now I usually have problems trying to get myself to even watch a movie at home... :(

With today's technological advances, I prefer to watch movies at home.

    A. Less costly. You buy the movie for $20 (or so) and have it for a lifetime, assuming you don't misplace it. A movie theater, you pay $10+ just to watch it once.
    B. TVs have come a long way, and you can get them as big as 60 inches now (probably more) and you have blu-ray on top of that for flawless quality.
    C. Not as much background noise in your own home and people getting in the way of your view.
    D. You can watch the movie on your own time.

I usually go to the movies to watch some of the bigger movies i'm looking forward to more (Hunger games, Avengers, BvS when it comes out) but other than those, it's definitely home for me

I'd rather view it at home, where I can just pause it and laugh away. Movie theaters are pricy, and if you have to use the restroom the movie continues without you.So, unless it's something I have to watch, I'll give it a couple months for the cd to come out, and let the price drop. Of course then there's always streaming~

I honestly prefer watching these at home, where i'm not surrounded by many people who might get too indulged watching it. And it helps that at home I can watch them while not sitting in darkness, and tickets may not be as pricey as a physical copy.
