In our world, we've got therapy dogs and other therapy animals (in programmes like Animal-Assisted Therapy) and I was wondering what would you consider a good therapy Pokémon? Someone shared that a Comfey would be one such Pokémon as; "This Pokémon picks flowers to create the ring around itself, and will give these rings to those it likes. The flowers can also be thrown at enemy Pokémon to create an opening to either flee or attack. Comfey spreads oil from its body along its flower ring. The oil changes the flower so they emit a soothing fragrance that affects both Comfey and its allies. This aroma can also help with the treatment of people and Pokémon at hospitals." - wiki page. Which is super neat-o! I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions ovo)/
I feel like a lot of grass and fairy type Pokémon would be good for therapy. Like Meganium or Sylveon. Maybe some normal types too like Blissey and Audino, since most nurses tend to have them around exactly for such things.
I'd want a Leafeon or Sylveon. Leafeon's Dex entry says: Just like a plant, it uses photosynthesis. As a result, it is always enveloped in clear air. Clean air is nice. Sylveon's says: It sends a soothing aura from its ribbonlike feelers to calm fights. So, soothing! Nice! #MissingNo
I feel like it would be extremely difficult to feel anything negative if I always had a Plusle and Minun around
Chansey seems to be a good Pokémon for this. Its Diamond entry says 'It's said to deliver happiness', though it might be a little too rare to be a therapy Pokémon. On a similar vein to service dogs, growlithe and arcanine could be used, too. As well as that, psychic types like meditite, munna and gardevoir that can learn Calm Mind could also work for reassuring stressed owners.
Sylveon would make a wonderful therapy Pokémon. All of the Eeveelutions, really, who I could see being trained to handle a wide variety of different things, or chosen specifically to fit in with the owner's home environment. I could also inagine a lot of canine 'mons being suitable for the job, like Houndour/doom and Herdier/Stoutland.
Looking at the dex entries of Houndoom, I would not recommend a Pokémon whose bite can cause eternal pain as therapy Pokémon.
I think Eevee would be a nice therapy Pokémon, since it is such a cute little fluffy thing I also like the idea of having a Sylveon or Leafeon as well.
I think these three might work really well as therapy Pokémon. Leafeon has always been a rock for me so I would like one to keep being my rock when I have a hard time.
Growlithe and Vulpix would perhaps make good therapy pokémon, low heat can be used to ease pain and just like with therapy dogs IRL I'd assume these could be trained in a similar manner to help their human with different tasks depending on the individual's needs in addition to providing pain relief.
I could imagine Dragonites being good therapy Pokémon, as they are quite of described as calm, intelligent and kindhearted Pokémon. Goodra could also work as one, but probably wouldn't be the best choice, since it would quite likely cover the patient in slime, on multiple occasions.
I think Audino would be a good choice! "It touches others with the feelers on its ears, using the sound of their heartbeats to tell how they are feeling."
Torchic or Darumaka would also be nice, both Pokédex entries state they're nice and warm to hug Oh, how I'd love to hold one in my arms...
That's a really cool Pokédex entry and a great concept. I think it'd be the case for sure although I don't know which would be the very best for the role. I think possibly some psychic types could be used to help ease mental stuff like nightmares perhaps.
