This thread is to discuss things in the Pokémon games which literally make no sense in the Pokémon world!

    1. Why can Doduo Fly, but not Scyther?
    2. When you surf, why does the Pokémon turn in to a Lapras/Kyogre by default, instead of the Pokémon you're surfing on?
    3. This be silly, but how can Rhydon surf? Even a tiny little bubble is super effective against him...?

Post your own here! Answer questions with your own theories too. :)

    - Alakazam has an IQ of over 4000, yet can't speak English. It would only take him a day to be able to speak with his trainer to his heart's content, yet he just doesn't.

    - The fact that a Pidgey can fly you across the continent.

^Same as the last point made above. Like, how can Zubat fly you across a continent, but something like Yanmega can't? Better yet, since when did Pokémon obtain rocket technology? (Yes, that's you, Golurk)

How can Banette be a doll brought to life when it evolved from a different Pokémon? How can Claydol be a stone figure brought to life when it evolved too?

How does a human soul get turned into a Pokémon (Yamask) and I guess everyone has the same face if that yellow thing was its face while it was alive.

How Chandelure can kill you then take your spirit/soul. Shouldn't that be the other way around?

Haha, I agree about the small birds being able to Fly their trainers around. Always wondered how in the world my Hoothoot could do that...

-When you use Dive, how does your Trainer breathe underwater?

Here are a few things that don't make sense to me

-All Pokémon eat the same pokefood and berries
-Rock Climb can't be used to climb ledges
-How Onix (a gaint rock snake) has less than half the attack stat of Krabby (a tiny crab).
-How many levitating Pokémon (Like magnemite) are hit by ground moves.

I agree about the small birds as well, just like how my murkrow could just fly me everywhere. I also agree about the question on how can your trainer breath underwater without diving equipment.

I would say, the things that don't really make sense to me are:

    1. How can Ekans, or even Pikachu use the move strength? (I can understand Raichu and Arbok since they're pretty strong)

    2. How can Tangela use cut when it doesn't even have any claws?

How someone could just wake up one morning and suddenly be a Kadabra. Not Abra, not Alakazam, but just right in the middle of this evolution chain.

Healthcare is free, but you can barely afford juice.

    Fire-types can be frozen.

The fact that Pokémon references poop in Darumaka's Pokédex entry.

I could go on, but I'm sure there's a limit.

How can a Kangaskhan (sp?) be born with a child already?!

Why are egg groups so confusing?!

Some Ground-type moves don't affect Flying-types. I can understand Earthquake, but, apparently if a Marowak chucks a BONE at a Crobat, it has no effect. WHY?

    How can GENESECT learn FLY?

How can Diglett learn Cut, Aerial Ace, and Shadow Claw?

-Why can you walk into a strangers house and they don't even care?

-A simple bottle of water heals your Pokémon more than a potion?

-Small Pokémon like Turtwig can use rock climb and scale up walls with you on their back?

-You have to cut down a tiny tree to pass, even though obviously you can climb over or around it.

-Before BW, why did you need strength to move boulders that you could obviously move yourself? They were so small?!

-When a Pokémon misses a target that is sleeping.

-You're 10 years old and you leave home to train Pokémon to fight each other for money.

-Preschoolers wander around with sometimes really tough Pokémon.

-How when you have a big Pokémon and a small Pokémon why can't the big Pokémon just step on the small one and win?

-Litwick's Pokédex entry: They feed off the life energy of people and Pokémon, and us it to fuel the the flame on their head. Why don't they just do that in battle and win automatically?

the Pokémon center is a non-profit organization but it improves with every generation.
you can use a fire type with powerful fire type moves in a large forest without burning it down.
nobody but you can nickname your Pokémon.
why don't scientists do anything productive?

Prof. Oak can't remember this grandson's own name, and he can't tell your gender, even when the character models for the male and female, are different.

    Everyone is the same height.

How come our characters aren't killed or taken hostage on sight when found in a hideout?
How does an egg hatch to become an exeggcute (six eggs)?
Why does no one freak out when they see Lugia following me and/or crushing me by poking me?

One thing really stood out for me, and I can never quite figure out why Game Freak implemented it.

Let the picture do the talking:

    - Why do the criminals (Team Rocket and others) try to stop you with a Pokémon battle?
Shouldn't they just try to use their Pokémon to distract you while their teammate sneaks up behind you and like..knocks you out or something?

    - Why do the toddler trainers you fight, seem so excited to give you money after you beat the crap out of their Pokémon?

    - If water hurts rock, why/how does Aggron know surf?

    - Why is it that some Pokémon can learn dream eater but cannot learn hypnosis or other sleep inducing moves? That move would technically be pretty darn useless to have if you can't make the opponent sleep first. : /

    - Apparently when you surf, all your Pokémon look like whales. Especially if you have a Tentacruel surfing.

    - Gyarados is water and flying. FLYING. He can't even learn a flying move. D:

    - How exactly does a stone make you evolve suddenly?
    - If you earn money my defeating trainers, how did the money get there in the first place?
    - I'm pretty sure the DayCare man has a negative IQ (I have no idea how it got there!)
    - Why does nobody lock their house? And, even if you walk in, why does nobody care?
    - Fire-types can be frozen, Water-types can get burned.
    - Why can't I jump over ledges?
    - Okay, seriously, how can huge Pokémon like Donphan remain hidden in the grass until you're right in front of them?
    - Why can't I just Fly over that small pool of water?
    - How can a sleeping Pokémon escape from a Pokéball?
    - How does the appearance of a Pokéball change its effectivity?
    - If I'm all out of Pokémon, I black out and restart at a Pokécenter. So why are the trainers I just beat just standing there forever?
    - The amount of people with impossible hairstyles...
    - Okay, what kind of material are Revives made of? No wait, edit that: Just, how do 99% of all items in Pokémon work?
    - Does nobody ever sleep?

    ~To be continued~
