    Hey everyone,

While playing Pokémon, I realised that there are quite a few things that don't really make sense in the games. And I was curious if there were more strange things I don't know about yet. A few thing I find weird:
    - The Gothitelle line is pure Psychic, instead of Dark(/Psychic)
    - The Magnezone line does not have Levitate, so it can be hit by Earthquake
    - The Haxorus line is not considered to be a pseudo-legendary line
    - Munna/Musharna are not Ghost/Psychic
    - Mr. Mime. xD

So, my question is, are there more strange things like these? Please leave a comment below!

Because it's Ice type. And it's an Ice Cream. So it makes sense (kind of).Real question is why Klefki exists.

Gothitelle not being a Dark type is a little weird especially since they are clearly basing it on some goth chick, and that it has 'goth' in the name, yeah. And Mr. Mine is just weird, but as for the other ones:

-Having Magnezone with Levitate as an ability would be sort of OP, since it has the most resistances (or did, perhaps not any more since Steel no longer resists Ghost and Dark) of any Pokémon. Making it immune to its major weakness would be a little much. It gets the move Magnet Rise anyway; having a move impart Ground immunity instead of it being automatic is just balance.
-Haxorus isn't psudeo-legendary simply because it doesn't meet the set criteria of what the term means. It doesn't have a base stat total of 600 so of course it's not going to be considered one.
-Besides being a 'dream eater' like some ghost types in the past have been, there's really nothing Ghost-like about Musharna..it's just a psychic creature that deals with dreams, more similar to Drowzee or Hypno than any ghost as far as I can see. I don't really agree with that one.

Also Klefki is based on an old Pagan myth about fairies being responsible when small objects (such as keys) go missing. I hated Klefki too before I realised the concept is pretty sound and wasn't totally just pulled out of their ass while looking at some keys thinking up Pokémon ideas. I'd wager that its concept relating to an old myth is a stronger one than the Vanillite line, because there it's just "it's ice cream cause it's made of ice."

What I find wrong is that stupid Heatmor can't even learn Fire Blast via TM in Gen VI, and Stunfisk has an ability that was not changed, which prevents paralysis, even though now its type already does that making the ability completely redundant and pointless. Why?

I understand why they didn't give Magnezone Levitate but still... It's clearly floating. And still gets hit by Earthquake. (however, there are way more Pokémon without Levitate that appear to float)
For Musharna, I looked more at the Dream Mist, and the ability to create things with the mist, which is more ghost-like.
If I get the chance, I want to do a Pokémon X/Y run, and only use my least favorite Pokémon. Maybe then I'll like Klefki a bit more...

And about Stunfisk, I'm not sure, but I don't think abilities just get removed or replaced. They can get another one if they didn't have three already... And Heatmor... Makes no sense at all :P

Yeah, they don't get removed or replaced, but since they edited certain moves and tweaked resistances, they damn well could have in this case, because now we have a Pokémon where one of its abilities literally does nothing at all. It's more funny than annoying though because come on, its Stunfisk. It's just really like they don't care about the flat brown thing. They decided not to 'try again'. But what a lapse in judgement.

Hey, for your information, I have a level 88 Stunfisk, and I use it quite frequently!

I always use it if I need to do some quick Horde Battle EV training. It knows Eartquake, Surf and Discharge xD

The fact that Samurott didn't get a Mega Evolution, or ANY of the other starters. Like what the hell GF.

Also the fact that Florges exists. So ugly, ick. Except for white flower.

I have a feeling that the other starters will also get a Mega, but at a later point. But still, why no gen V mega's? Mega Zoroark, Chandelure, Beheeyem, Mienshao, whatever. But nothing ._.

My problem with Florges is that it isn't Fairy/Grass. I mean come on, it's a flower. It's name, is freaking FLORges...

I'm still bugged out on some Pokémon that should LEARN a certain move, but cannot. For instance, my biggest one; A Pokémon that should know a move like...Hypnosis. But doesnt. However, they can learn Dream Eater.

A lot of ghost Pokémon suffer from this. They can use/learn Dream Eater, so why not allow them to know any of the sleep moves? :(

They didn't need them though. There would be far too many Mega evolutions if that were the case. Eventually they should get them, but Mega Evolution is a new idea, it's supposed to be special, not something which is handed out to tons of Pokémon. I'd like to see the starters get a Mega some day, but for now, they don't need it.

Agreed regarding the senselessness of Gothitelle. Considering the name and design it clearly has a dark theme. Seeing it on screen or hearing it's name I always forget it's not.

There are several things in the games however that makes no sense but some have a purpose for not.
*Legendary Pokémon can not breed. We all know this is to make them one of a kind thus keeping them valuable however it has no logic to it as far as the concept goes. In the anime we have seen and heard mentions of the contrary.
    - We see a mother and child Lugia in a trilogy of episodes during the whirl islands portion of the johto journey
    - There is a Hoenn film featuring a Latios and Latias that are told to have descended from a Latios who gave it's life to protect earth(and the current Latios follows that legacy).

*Small bird Pokémon such as Pidgey and Spearow are able to use the ability fly but can you imagine one of those small Pokémon actually being capable of carrying a passenger? Even Pigeotto isn't big enough, though in the anime Ash uses his as a parachute that is significantly different. I seriously doubt it could have carried him from one city to another.

*Apparently Nidoqueen and Nidoking can not breed. Personally I have never tried this but recently read it. All I have to say here is...WHY!? These Pokémon aren't even legendary.

There are also several inconsistencies in the anime.
Example: In season 1 episode 'The Fire Poke-Thon' the dex says Dodrio can run faster than it can fly and later in the Johto journeys when Ash battles Violet City Gym leader Fawkner it is clearly portrayed that Dodrio can not fly but can jump so high it appears to do so. Also if you look at it, the Pokémon clearly has no wings. So the Johto portrayal actually makes the most sense.
Interestingly Dodrio actually can not learn fly in the video games I don't believe.

    Some other Anime flaws include:
*Ash uses his dex more than once on the same Pokémon and somehow most of the time the entries are never the same even in the same season and region when it's the same dex.
    - Example: During the Johto journeys he used it on two Chikoritas. Casey's and the one he came to own.
*There are also silly errors such as in the Johto episode 'Lights, Camera, Quacktion' when the directly brags about winning the Golden Growlithe award but the image shown of the award is clearly an Arcanine.
*A few times Pokémon are incorrectly referenced by a character but an example is escaping me.

-Yeah, I personally think you shouldn't compare the anime to the games. They're both Pokémon, that's for sure, but apart from that, things that happen in the anime, can't be easily translated into the games, and vice versa.
-About the Flying Pokémon: If you have some spare time, just look in the Pokédex, you'll have a great time laughing about the ridiculous sizes. Honestly, at least 50% doesn't make sense at all. And yes, Doduo. The Pokémon, based off a flightless bird, that can learn Fly.
-I don't know exactly about Nidoking/queen, but there might be a reason for why they can't breed.

Maybe I should make a different thread about things wrong in the anime, because there are a lot of things wrong there :)

Agreed the comparison between game and anime is irrelevant because there is anime logic that has the sense completely ripped from it when translated into the games because either a concept is necessary for the experience to be more unique and entertaining such as the legendaries ability to breed, or impossible to translate. Such as using Pokémon attacks in different ways.
Example: During the Johto Journeys when Ash stopped Whitney's Miltank in it's constant rollout by using Totodile's water gun to dig ditches that would trap it. I don't see how that could have been made possible in the game.
That's the only explanation there really is. There isn't logic behind it.

The one whom posted elsewhere about the Nidoqueen's inability to breed had theorized it's "in game" reason which had also been extended to the legendaries in ability to breed and I offered this very same response to them. Though I honestly don't understand Nidoqueen.

I know somethings in the games that kind of confuse me..
    - Why can dog Pokémon such as Stoutland and Furfrou learn surf?
    * I mean I know dogs can swim in real life..but I don't think I've ever heard of someone swimming on a dog before..
    - Why is it possible for Azurill to change genders when it evolves into Marill?
    * I had a female Azurill once and when it evolved into Marill it changed into a male. I read a theory about it a long time ago when it happened..it was something about the gender ratios for each Pokémon causing Azurill to have a chance of changing genders but I think it's weird.
    - Why can male Kirlia's evolve into Gardevoir but female Kirlia's can't evolve into Gallade?
    - How come Xerneas is the only legendary fairy type Pokémon?
    * I'm sure Pokémon will later reveal more legendary fairy type Pokémon at one point..but it disappoints me that Xerneas is the only fairy legendary Pokémon in this game. I don't care much for Xerneas and I was hoping for another fairy type to come out when I first played X/Y.
    - Also..am I the only one that thinks that Pikachu being the only Pokémon in X/Y to actually say it's name instead of a random noise is weird?
    * Ex: On Pokémon Amie Pikachu will say "Pika!" or something of the sort, while in previous games it made a chu like noise that I can't quite explain. I think it's adorable Pikachu says it's name but..I wish the other Pokémon would too. I understand that would be to hard and complicated though..

Maybe these are all just my opinions..like the whole Kirlia and Gardevoir thing probably make sense to people..I just don't really like the idea that a female Kirlia can't evolve into a manly Gallade when a male Kirlia can evolve into a feminine Gardevoir.

    - Okay, dog Pokémon learning Surf is weird, but you know who else can learn Surf? Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Rhyperior, Snorlax... All Pokémon you'd expect to sink like a brick!
    - I believe this was a mistake by GameFreak. Marill was introduced in generation II, while Azurill was added a generation later. They probably simply overlooked the difference in gender ratio. But it's not impossible for some real-life animals to switch genders, so it still makes kind of sense. At least more sense as a female Mr. Mime...
    - I think Gallade was added in generation IV, just because many fans were upset about the 50% gender ratio for Gardevoir, who looks way too feminine. Therefore, they added an alternative male evolution for Kirlia, who looks more masculine. However, they can't change Gardevoir's ratio anymore, so that's why you can have a male Gardevoir, but no female Gallade.
    - Simply because Fairy type was introduced in generation VI, and that generation just has only a handful of legendaries. Although I think most of the "Solo legendary cute little creature Pokémon" in every generation could get the retyping. These are Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Shaymin and Victini. Especially Celebi and Jirachi could get the Psychic -> Fairy switch. On the other hand, that would mean that a crap ton of Pokémon would get a retyping, and that might not be what GameFreak wants.
    - Indeed, I get kind of annoyed by the fact that, just because of his popularity, Pikachu gets his anime cry. But in generation VI, a lot of fan service was done, which pisses me off a little bit. There's no reason for giving Charizard two Megas, just to give the fanboys their desired Dragon type. Blastoise should've gotten the secondary Steel type, and honestly, it looks like they didn't even care about Venusaur. And look at the other Megas, Alakazam, Gengar, Blaziken, Absol, Lucario, Ampharos... Each of them are all fan favorites. In my opinion, they shouldn't have looked that much at the fans, but more at the actual forgotten Pokémon. I'd rather see a Mega Marowak, Lumineon, or even Dunsparce. Although I'm also incredibly happy with the Mega's of all four of my favorite Pokémon: Absol, Gardevoir, Mawile and Lucario.

I RANT SO MUCH I'M SORRY IF YOU READ THIS ALL xD

    - I did read it all and that's alright. Like I said some of this is just my opinion, and I do know that their are some animals that can change genders..I think some examples are like some type of toads/frogs or something like that.
    - I did not know all those Pokémon could learn surf because I've never used any of them in a team on any game..but I do believe that those Pokémon learning surf are more..ridiculous than the dog Pokémon learning surf in my opinion..
    - Definitely agree with you there on some of the cute legendary Pokémon becoming Fairy type. I think it should be Mew, Jiriachi, Celebi and Shaymin should definitely be fairy type. Maybe a few of them will but who knows. Like you said they probably don't want all that..but I do hope if they make a sequel to X/Y that it'll have a brand new cute fairy revealed legendary.
    - I do understand the whole Kirlia situation..I just still don't like that there can be a male Gardevoir. Mainly because I wanted a shiny Gardevoir before..and I was going to try and breed for one but knowing my luck I'd get a male shiny one..and I don't want a male Gardevoir x3..don't care much for Gallade but he's pretty cool. I'm sure some people like male Gardevoir though so I'm done complaining about that.
    - I do agree that it was kind of sensless to give Charizard two mega evovled..I heard that Charizard X was worst than his Y verison..not sure if it's true though cause I never really used them in my team. I can see whee your coming from with the whole Blastoise should be Water/Steel..and I think Venusaur could've gotten a cooler mega evolution but I never really cared much for Venusaur.
    - You do make a good point about the whole mega forgotten Pokémon..but in my opinion..I don't think the people who developed X/Y would want to spend their time coming up with mega forms for Pokémon that not a whole bunch of People like. I do think they could make at least a few mega forgotten Pokémon..but I think it'd just be kind of a waste of time for them to make mega evolutions for Pokémon like that if not a whole lot of people would want and use them..you know? I do respect your opinion though :)

Agreed with everything (and I got a female shiny Gardevoir, yay), and about the Megas: Maybe they could try to give some of the less popular Pokémon an awesome Mega, do actually make them more popular.

Yeah, I mean, before Gen VI, I don't think many people cared for Mawile (I did, though). Now you see one on many people's team.
