    Wondering if you guys tip the NPCs when they ask? I looked around and there's a rumor going on that tipping more will increase your chances of shiny odds. So I tipped close to $20,000 all over Kalos and still nothing. What about you guys? Have you found tipping to increase your shiny chances? I know a bunch of you get tons of shinies. Do you guys tip?

    I'm pretty sure tipping does nothing to increase the shiny rate. The president of Game Freak or the Pokémon Company (can't remember which) has said they will reveal what tips do in the near future.

    So in their own messed up way they've admitted that tipping does at least do something. Hmm...

    I've been tipping quite a lot in fact, although I never believed it had anything to do with the shiny rate... Not sure why I did it then...

    I did it because I thought it would affect something. And then Lumiouse's Boutique opened to me and now I spend all my money just customizing my character. And also those pokeballs aren't cheap so no money to tip anymore...Weird because in all the other games I'd be like the richest pkm trainer in the world since I'd only buy regular pokeballs. Now I need clothes and quick balls, dusk balls, timer balls, repeat balls and I'm buying waay more repels than I ever did before...it's the shiny epidemic :/

    I really can't say. It was only after I started tipping at the Battle Chateau that my first shiny hatched, BUT it could just be a coincidence. I do a lot of tipping, and that's the only odd thing I've really noticed. I really didn't think tipping did anything, tbh. I just felt guilty when I didn't tip them...XD

    Tipping does do nothing. The system just can't work like that. It's way more complex than it seems. Besides, it's easy to abuse so it's kind of silly.

    I only tip little amounts because I'm soft, I guess. Those poor lines of computer coding and pre-written text tied to a 3D model need some kind of income, right?

    Yeah, I'd assume tipping doesn't do anything to increase the shiny rate. But it's an interesting rumor! :) Things such as this are always interesting to read up on.

    Same, here! I mean...once you do everything there is to do in the game, what else are you gonna use all that money for? XD

    As for a reason, it might just be to increase your "style", or popularity or whatever. Something really minor, like that. I mean, surely it's not just there to take your money...but if anything, it's likely something really minor.

    Then I restart the game as a girl and buy all the clothes (I wish guys had more customization options) :/

    The style part makes sense if you only tipped in Lumiose but not for the other places where style doesn't come into affect imo.

    I saw TheJWittz tweeting that he thought tipping increased the Shiny Rate. Since that very moment, I've been tipping as much as I can.. But no luck yet
