• Dupe clause in place, if a Pokémon is already registered in the pokédex it cannot be caught and I have 3 attempts to find one that's not registered, if one is not found within 3 attempts the capture chance is forfeited
• Shiny clause in place, if I find a shiny all restrictions are lifted
• Starter is chosen with a online RNG

Pokémon in this run will all be named after cities found in the USA. So let's get this show on the road, the journey starts now let's begin by finally adding a proper entry to this journal, and I apologize that the first entry is gonna be pretty darn boring since the SM opening is so long.


Got a rude awakening by the Meowth my mom keep as a pet, and got called downstairs. Then Kukui shows up soon after, letting himself in. Telling me to come with him to the next town so I can meet the island's kahuna and get my first Pokémon in Iki Town, after grabbing my backpack we're off. Once arrived in Iki Town it appears that Kukui had planned for us to meet people there but none had showed up, he asked if I would go find the kahuna and he'll wait at the town entrance in case he comes by.

After walking through the town I saw a girl dressed completely in white with a wide brimmed hat and a sports bag over the shoulder, a bag that was apparently moving. She said something about some ruins, probably the ones Kukui told me about earlier, the ones where the island guardian Tapu Koko lives. I followed her onto the Mahalo Trail. Further up the trail standing at a bridge I see the girl, and she seems to be fighting with something in the bag that eventually escapes it. It looks like a Pokémon, the Pokémon flies off towards the bridge and about half way over it gets attacked by a flock of spearows. The girl asked me to help the Pokémon that's she called Nebby.

The rescue could probably have gone better, I couldn't get away from the spearows and the bridge somehow collapsed sending both of is plummeting towards the river below. Suddenly I was in the arms of a weird looking Pokémon, it was black and yellow and looked like it had a Mohawk and it brought us to safety. The Pokémon then flew off, quite an amazing sight. Before leaving Nebby found a shiny stone on the ground, the girl picked up and handed to me before asking if I would accompany her back to town. I just put the stone in one of my bag's pocket because why not.

Back in town we meet up with Kukui who have found the kahuna, it turns out that girl I helped is named Lillie and knows Kukui. The kahuna's name is Hala and he's the one that offered me the choice between 3 Pokémon, Rowlet, Litten and Poplio, I choose Litten, named him Detroit, and Kukui then gave me my trainer passport and a pokédex.

As I was about to head home to show my mom my new partner a guy came up to me and challenged me to a battle. He then presented himself as Hau and is the kahuna's grandson when Hala told him that he could at least give his name before challenging someone.

The battle was over pretty quick with me as the winner since Hau had a Rowlet, Detroit made short work of it with his ember attack. After the battle Hala noticed the shiny stone in my bag pocket and asked to borrow the stone till some time tomorrow, saying something about Tapu Koko and giving me a stone.

Finally back home again, mom was able to meet Detroit before heading to bed. The next morning Kukui came, he talked to my mom about the island trial and suddenly I'm doing this island trial thing, sure why not, and thney also talked about some sort of festival, I had to check that out that sounded interesting. Kukui wanted to show me something and took me to Route 1 where he showed me how to catch Pokémon.

I caught a Ledyba and named her Charlotte, my first capture, not sure if she would stay on the team but for now she was probably good to have around. I also battle a trainer that had a Ratatta, this was a good chance to try see what Charlotte could do. She didn't do too well sadly, but she was freshly caught so that was to be expected, Detroit saved the day and we won. Before continuing I decided to train Detroit and Charlotte a little.

The names a chosen at random from a list found on the wikipedia, that they're both from Michigan is just a coincidence.

 

Route 1

After a well-earned rest at home I went back out on Route 1 to head get to Iki Town for the festival. I battle a girl with a caterpie and a boy with a yungoos.

Iki Town

Hala greeted me as I entered the town, he started talking about the island guardian, apparently each island have its own and the festival today is in Tapu Koko's honor.
Then I ran into hau shortly after, who had been waiting for me and I'm supposed to battle Hau doing the festival, well okay then.
Hau had caught a pichu since the last battle, had to recall Charlotte since I didn't wanted to risk her getting hurt by the pichu's electric moves. Detroit ended up getting paralyzed but managed to take down the pichu, glad I found a paralyzed heal earlier since I might need it. Next up was Hau's rowlet which was easily defeated; thankfully Detroit getting paralyzed didn't become a problem.
After the battle Tapu Koko could be heard, guess it liked what it saw while Hau and I battled. Hala also gave me a Z-Ring, turned out it was the sparkling stone I handed Hala yesterday. The kahuna then said it was time for me to start my island challenge where I visit each island and take on the trials each kahuna have set up.

Route 1

I went back home where Lillie showed up, she wanted me to come with her to Kukui's lab, and I also found out that Nebby is a Pokémon called cosmog, and that it got some strange power some people wanna use for themselves.
On my way to the lab I explored a bit and battle a kid with a grubbing and a girl that had Wingull, Charlotte finally had a chance to do some proper battling now that she'd gotten a bit stronger and learned a few new moves.
Arrived at the lab, man that place looked like it'd seen better days, boarded up hole everywhere. A lot of noise were coming from it, turned out the Kukui was doing some research, letting his rockruff attack him.
He asked for my pokédex real quick, turns out that my pokédex are mean to have a rotom reside in it and that my pokédex is specially developed just for that and that the parts needed to make it happen had just arrived. So now I have a talking pokédex, I suppose that'll be handy if I ever get lonely. I also learned that Lillie have been staying with Kukui in addition to being his lab assistance. Kukui also gave me a Trial Charm, something all trainers that go does the island trial have it seems, he suggested I visited the trainer school next so I guess I'll go do that.

Route 1 — Trainer School

After visiting the Pokémon center I headed for the trainer school where I met up with Kukui, Lillie and one of the teachers from the school. Kukui had set up a little test, battling four students scattered across school area. So I went searching for the students, the first one was waiting at the incinerator, she had a pikipek. I found the second student near the shed at the back of the school yard, he had a metapod, Charlotte made short work of it getting some easy Exp. Going inside searching for the remaining students I came across a teacher that gave me a Quick Claw, that'll probably come in handy later. Found the third student near a stairwell, she had a Bonsly, not the best match up for my Pokémon, type wise at least. It was a tough fight as I only have Charlotte and Detroit right now but with their combined power they were able to take down the Bonsly. Found the fourth and final student out on the battlefield, he had a grimer which proved to be a bit of a challenge, both my Pokémon ended up getting poisoned but I won....Barely. I got a technical machine as reward for beating all four students, TM01 Work Up. I was then called to the office on the 2nd floor of the school; swear the burned grass was not my fault! Turned out it was a teacher that wanted to battle me after seeing my defeat her students, she had a magnemite and a meowth, she was easier battling than the bonsly and grimer from earlier. She gave me 5 great balls for winning. Kukui then showed up and introduced me to Illima who's Melemele Island's trial captain and his island trial is in Verdant Cave, I guess that'll be my next stop after going to Hau'lio City which I have to go through to get to Illima's trial.

Hau'lio City

Once on the way to Hau'lio city Lillie and I found a tauros blocking our way, Hala suggested I petted him which the tauros seemed to enjoy. Hau then stopped me to show me something, a place where I could get a camera upgrade for my Rotom dex. Once finally getting a moment to just do my own thing I decided to look for a new addition to the team and caught a wingull and named him Seattle, time for a break at the Pokémon center before continuing.

Hau’lio City - Marine

After some training to get Seattle up to the same level as the others it was time to move on, went down to the marina where I met Illima and ended up battling a Team Skull grunt, woo easy exp!

Then Illima decided to battle me afterward, healing my pokémon first which was not needed at all but whatever free heal. The amount of critical hits in this fight is a crime, lost Charlotte this fight, her reflect and light screen set up bought Seattle enough time to growl his way to victory. Went back to the center to heal up and box Charlotte in the graveyard box, picked up a few items along the way.

Route 2

Now off to the first trial at long last, and that Tauros is blocking the road again...Because it was to be petted. Alright Route 2, time for a new pokémon, let us see what we get this time around….Meowth, sure I’ll take it, and he’ll replace Charlotte. Named him Dallas, welcome to the team Dallas! Gonna take a trip past the cemetery for another catch, this time a zubat I named Irvine, I’ll box that guy for the time being since I already have a flying type on the team.

Visited a berry farm on the way to get a few free berries and ran into the Team Skull Grunts….Again, oh well easy exp and finally reached the center on the Route 2 where I met Hau, he gave me 3 revives (woops easy money), time for a quick heal and some shopping before going into the trial.
