Do you feel that X/Y was too easy? The newer features such as the EXP share giving EXP to all of your team was one of the things I think made the game way easier, and the elite four in general.

I don't think so. The people who say that X&Y are way too easy, are mostly also the people who have been playing Pokémon for years. And yes, for those people, X&Y is easy. But there are also people who have X&Y as their first ever Pokémon game. And for them, this game is probably not too easy.
Experienced players almost have their team assembled, before they even obtain their starter! They know all the type matchups, the power of each and every Pokémon, the best movesets for them... If you're new to Pokémon, you don't know all these things, and the game will be significantly harder.

Also, people who still complain about X&Y being too easy, here's a tip: You can turn the Exp. Share off. Still too easy? Try a Nuzlocke, or any other challenge. It's not always the game's fault, you can make the game as difficult and easy as you want.

Wow... I think I kind of went on a rant there...

I think the game is just as hard as it has been since sinnoh. I admit the exp share may have made it slightly easier, but like astral said, just turn it off and problem solved. Now one thing I've done to challange myself is to make monotype teams and I will eventually challange the elite 4 with them.

I find the game easier because there's less caves and it's harder to get lost (or maybe I was just young and stupid back then and couldn't for the life of me get out of the caves...) Either way, I don't find it a bad thing at all because I always hated caves. Every step was just so much stress of whether I'd get another stupid random encounter and at that point in the game I don't have enough money for repels. Money is also easier to make (and there's more to spend it on) so I can actually afford repels now.

Exp share is great since you can turn it on and off. I'm using a much larger variety of Pokémon now instead of previous gens where near the end, I'd be stuck with a set 6 because I couldn't be bothered to train anything else. It allows for more flexibility with your teams but if you're still sticking with a set 6 (which is boring imo) then yes it'll be easier to finish the plot.

X and Y are easier than other Pokémon games because of the EXP Share, but I don't think they're too easy. Like Astral said, there are plenty of ways to make the game harder for yourself if you want to, like turning off the EXP Share, or doing a Nuzlocke, monotype, whatever.

I think the game was too easy because of the exp. share and the easy way of obtaining lots of money. I really had no trouble with money and by the time I beat the first gym I had close to 30k.

I guess the EXP share helped me out a lot but I think I kept it off for the most part. But like Astral said, years of experience makes it incredibly easy. Knowing most of the type matchups is one way (and yeah the Fairy type messed that up a bit) and knowing the Pokémon themselves is another.

I thought it was far too easy. It wasn't too big of an issue though, I just did challenges and turned off exp share when I wanted a tougher playthrough.

I definitely feel like XY purposely handed you things to make the game easier. Getting the upgraded EXP Share right after the first gym made leveling a team up that much easier, and if you battled all the trainers and wild Pokémon you came across, you quickly had a team that could take on pretty much anything in the game. Most of the trainers you fight aren't that hard as well, and while the levels of the wild Pokémon and the Gym Leaders/E4 are higher than some other games, it's not hard to get your own Pokémon up to even higher levels than that during your first run-through.

And not counting the battles, Kalos itself doesn't fare much better. With very straight-forward routes and not that many hidden secrets, I felt that it was one of the more boring regions we've had, despite the updated graphics. Some of the towns and caves had interesting themes, but everything was essentially handed to you, there was very little exploring necessary. It would have been great if there were more wide-open routes that you had to explore in order to navigate properly to the right places.

Personally, even though it was sort of a post-game thing, I loved the addition of Easy and Challenge modes in BW2. In future games, I hope that you get to choose the difficulty right from the start. That would give newer players a chance to learn how to play the game, and it would give experienced players more of a challenge. Easy mode could be with lower-level trainers and wild Pokémon, with more tips and tricks and useful items just handed to you in the game itself. Normal mode would just be the game how it's usually played. Challenge mode could be with higher level trainers with more Pokémon (Gym Leaders with 4-5 Pokémon, E4 with 5, and Champion with 6 very high-level Pokémon), and less tips throughout the game, so you have to find extra things yourself via exploration. I think that would go over fairly well with fans, and would make for an interesting game.

@Deltheor I understand your point, and I agree. I would really love to see a Pokémon game that was actually legitimately hard. Just seriously difficult if you're going unprepared. But I also realise that the chances of that happening are very low...

I didn't realise that until just now, and I think that does make some portions of the game easier than usual. Even Victory Road wasn't what it usually is in terms of difficulty, pretty straightforward and not too tough of a challenge.

I went into this game grinding my Pokémon a fair amount before going to attempt the gyms like I normally do, and they felt way to easy. And the E4 was the easiest I've ever faced. I liked the idea of the Exp. Share being upgraded, but in theory it is just a way to make up for no VS Seeker of any kind. And they handed you a lot of the stuff that makes you more powerful, rather than it being a secret to find, like some of the Mega Stones and the Exp. Share (which was handed out way to early). The only trainers I struggled with were the Fighting type specialists (unless I has my Honedge/Doublade on my team, but that only happened in Korrina's gym).

Personally, Gen V was the most frustrating in terms of difficulty. I think that it might've been a personal problem, trying to train up so many different Pokémon, but I think that if they added in the Vs. Seeker again (or something similar), it would've been just a little quicker to level up that fighting wild Pokémon constantly. A balance between the two is what I'd prefer, I think Gen III had a really good difficulty, with Gym challenges that were tough but not frustrating and challenging gyms, and HGSS was a really good in terms of game and post game length (plus you could rebattle the gym leaders with stronger teams than the X/Y rebattles).

I have not played Gen I or Gen II, so I don't know the difficulties of those.

I will acknowledge the low difficulty level of X and Y, but I really like the new EXP share, mainly because I'm lazy and it means I can train faster, the one thing I really feel was to easy is the number of times, especially against team Flare, when they give you an opportunity to heal, and battle at your leisure. that coupled with the fact that all the admins and scientists only have one Pokémon, made team Flare pathetically easy to crush. The only real contender on team Flare is Lysander.

That's another thing. Idk if this is in prev gens but those ppl that heal your pkm while you're inside caves and stuff made things even easier. Also I'm really used to my poisoned pkm losing exp every step I take. I know they got rid of that in gen 5 but since I skipped that gen it feels brand new lol.

Anyways, because of constant healers and nothing that affected my pkm's health outside battle I don't think I actually used any items until I hit the E4. And by then your bag's about to burst from them anyways.

Previously it was a big deal on whether to spend money on repels vs status cures and health drinks. Now, I have no use for them...

I honestly never had to buy a lot of stuff... I could come around with the things I found laying on the ground for the biggest part. (For example, I did a Let's Play on Pokémon Sapphire: No PokéMarts. I used to forget it was a challenge all the time, because I didn't need to buy things anyway)

Now that I think of it, all I usually buy at PokéMarts are Pokéballs.

The new game was definitely easier than previous gens but to be honest I mainly had a problem with how sickeningly nice all your companions were, including your 'rival'.

I mean, sure it was easier, but I liked having the Exp. Share's new feature to give Exp. to al of your team. However, like AstralDragon said, there's tons of ways to make the game harder. He also made a good point by saying that it seemed easy for us who've played Pokémon since we were little. So I think it was perfectly fine.

For someone that has played Pokémon for years, I could say I found the game almost too easy. For a beginner that wouldn't be the case, but I'm not a beginner.

Though the full-team experience share did make it easier, I think it was mainly the fact you got it early in the game that made it easy. If you were to get it after the third gym badge, or pretty much anytime later than after getting the first gym badge, the game may had been more challenging. And I agree with Deltheor on how there weren't that many secrets hidden in caves or routes; it made the game somewhat less exciting.

I'm also surprised no one has mentioned how shinies are much easier to catch in this game. I've never caught a shiny, but I've heard more reports of people catching a shiny in X/Y then in any previous game. It makes shinies lose a bit of their value for them being more common in this game.

I found the game way to easy and also too short. the difficulty of the game could be fix with a nuzlocker or turned off exp share, but I don't really want to restart my game once again.
what I disliked the most was how short it felt. ):
at least make us able to go into some of the other doors on the power plant or perhaps make use of that one train station there is just there would have been cool... D:

I do find that X/Y were much easier than the other games. They added a lot of features that made the game much easier than the others, such as the Exp. Share and S.T.. The Mega Evolutions make the game a joke. You get the Mega Ring at, what, after the third gym? For players who are new to Pokémon, I can see it being hard. I mean, everything they have in the game is a lot to absorb.

I would say that I wish they made the game a little harder. But not to hard. I'm not kidding, I rage quited on Iris's champion battle. So, yeah.
