    I didn't see a thread on this; forgive me if one already exists ;;

For some people, Hoenn's waters are difficult to navigate, especially on the eastern side. Some critics *coughcoughIGNcoughcough* even complained about the amount of water in ORAS.

Did you find it difficult to navigate the watery areas? Why (not)? For those who played RSE, do you think it was more challenging to travel through the water routes in ORAS?

No. Mainly because I've played RSE before, and even if I didn't it probably wouldn't have taken me long to figure out where I was supposed to go. There are very few spots you can use dive on anyways.

To be honest I think RSE was harder than ORAS. Why? I honestly don't know. It just feels like it to me.

Yeah, playing RSE really gives you an advantage at navigating the region. So it was easy for me.

Not really considering the game lets you skip half the water routes with the npc warping. The routes are pretty straight forward as well besides the underwater parts, and that's pretty easy to get around too.

I had an okay time in ORAS finding my way around. In the original games, it was a lot harder.

I didn't mind navigating the water routes! Well, except the one between Slateport and Pacifidlog... those currents were such a nuisance.

The water itself though, not at all. :)

I don't believe it's half as bad as RSE, and you can catch on pretty easily.

I didn't mind it so much since I've played RSE before ORAS and knew what to expect from the area. I also happen to have used the map to navigate the area faster and avoided the trainers since I wasn't feeling up to battling them at the time.

Navigating the waterways wasn't anything too arduous. Then again I've been there before in RSE, it was just a matter of remembering what to do. Throw in the ability to Lati@s fly practically everywhere and the 'too much water' thing becomes something of a moot point imo.

Compared to R/S/E the water routes are absolutely not as tedious as back then. So navigating then wasn't all that hard.

It's Hoenn, what did you expect? Of course it'll have lots of water! But that doesn't mean it's bad... I actually really enjoy all the water, it isn't too annoying in my opinion. As long as it stays a Hoenn thing, and they don't carry this amount of water over to other regions, I'm perfectly okay with it!

Yeah I managed. There are a lot of trainers that I purposefully skipped due to being tired of constant battles, but overall I didn't find it too bad getting around Hoenn!

I didn't find the water in RSE much trouble to be honest, and with ORAS the already not-difficult-for-me-to-navigate water was even less difficult, with the aid of a Sharpedo (man, does that thing go fast).

Personally, I feel that the complaints about too much water are a little wet (pun pun). In fact, one person pointed out (when browsing the Youtube comment sections) that the fact that Hoenn has a lot of water is actually pretty meaningful, and representative of the struggle between land and water: Groudon and Kyogre. When you think of it like that, the supposedly "over-the-top" water isn't so bad.

I didn't have much trouble finding my way around, I played the original games so I could more or less remember the map when I visited the routes. Only place I probably had trouble with was Mauville City, I actually got lost in there the first time because it'd changed so much.

Not at all! They're very vast but definitely not confusing to navigate. I've replayed R/S/E at least twenty or thirty times so naturally I'd get adjusted to the water areas instantly when playing OR/AS; it's pretty much second nature to me now. Occasionally I will glance at a map to make sure I'm going the right way but otherwise it's nothing difficult (and not too different in comparison to R/S/E).

Didn't they decrease the spawn rate in water for ORAS? It feels that way

I wouldn't know; as soon as Repels are available, I always stock myself up on them.

I personally haven't had any trouble with the water routes in Hoenn, mostly since I spent so much time on them in the original RSE. I like the water routes myself, I missed them in XY a bit. I like how they got a revamp in ORAS, they're much easier to navigate than the ones in the original games.

I think the water routes are really wide, but not too hard to navigate. I'm not going to say they're easy, because I'm directionally challenged and have gotten lost before, but slapping on a Max Repel and just surfing, especially on a Sharpedo, is actually really nice. :)

I never found it difficult but, I did HATE the fact how there was so much water I never really liked surfing even though it was the best with a sharpedo :)
