Skylanders. Disney Infinity. Nintendo's Amiibos. Angry Birds Telepods. A new brand of toy has broken into the toychest of youngsters and collectors alike over the course of the past few years, and it's every gamer's childhood dream made a reality; the use of real-life toys in video games!

Whether you hate the sight of them, or they make your wallet cry a stream of tears, one has to admit that they are a fun fusion, and an innovative way to play and interact with a video game thanks to the use of a usb peripheral and/or other method. (I'm only familiar with Skylanders and Infinity)

What brand of toys to life game is your favourite? Make any recent purchases? What do you think of the rumours surrounding a Lego toys to life game? Tell all here!

I'm an avid Skylanders collector myself, and the way I look at it, being the oldest out of four grandchildren whilst the rest are younger than six, they'll be an awesome gift for them to play with in years to come, even if my wallet takes a hammering in the process.

I have a few Skylanders myself, but I really don't find myself all interested in collecting more. I don't really want to spend the money to get more characters when in fact I can be spending that money on entirely new games and such.

That being said, they can all be really cool, I'm just not interested in buying any more.

I haven't had much experience with toy to life games, but I have witnessed a few. Amiibos are probably my favorite thus far. Still indecisive if I should purchase one or not.

I used to play Skylanders 1 and 2 a lot and I have a big collection. I have all of the original 32 monsters except Wham-Shell. ...I have no interest in variants.

My brother and I have collected more [Smash Bros.] Amiibos than I thought we would - five(?) or so right now, and likely more soon! I'll admit that I want the Ness one if I can get my hands on it some time, haha. I've been considering getting Kirby some time, as well, since it's also compatible with Kirby and the Rainbow Curse if I remember correctly. I'll admit that I was a little skeptical about games that used/required you to buy figurines in order to access extra content or features at first, though; to me, it felt as though doing that would make games with this mechanic feel like "allegedly free games"/cash cows in a similar vein to online games like Club Penguin and Neopets, but the toys-to-life concept has been pretty cool so far now that I've gotten to experience it for myself. Bonus props in the amiibos' case with the ones for Super Smash Bros. also being compatible with other games, like Hyrule Warriors.

They're an easy money maker, and I like it and hate it. I like the strategy, but I hate it when scalpers collect them, and you can't find them except on Ebay for about 500 dollars or more. That's just plain cruel.

I collected all of the original Skylanders, but I gave them away since I wasn't playing the game anymore. I still miss my Whirlwind, Drobot, Camo, Cinder, Sunbeam and Bash though...

My favourite has to be Amiibos, since it is a chance to have a toy of your favourite character! Having Amiibo's is a great way to unlock things and play with in my opinion, but I, as mentioned above, dislike it when people buy them and sell them for a higher price.

I, personally, despise Skylanders. It makes you buy the game itself, then to add to that, you have to buy more figures to go on in the game? At least amiibos are optional, sheesh. But anyways, I prefer amiibos since they're more versatile as Nintendo is spreading the variety of which games amiibos can connect to.
