With new possible trials, gym leaders, and elite four members, what Pokémon type specialists would you like to see in the new games? In the past Electric type users have been very common, while the dark type has been well... left in the dark. Sun and Moon had Trial Captains representing Fire, Water, Grass, Normal, Electric, Ghost, and Fairy. Kahunas had Fighting, Rock, Dark, and Ground. While the Elite Four consisted of three previous types (Ghost, Fighting, Rock) along with Flying. Leaving the game with no type representation for Dragon, Ice, Steel, Bug, Psychic, and Poison. What types representation would you like to see? What trainers do you think should have them?
There was pretty much a specialist for each type except for Ice. Ryuki had Dragon, Guzma was Bug, Faba had Psychic, Molayne Steel and Plumeria had poison. Maybe Guzma should be an island kahuna
I like the idea of Guzma being an island kahuna. After all, in S/M, he 'failed', but in US/UM, things could go differently. I'd like to see at least a mention of the Kyurem DNA Splicers. Maybe the person who gives them to you challenges you to a battle. And maybe that person is...Colress? It could happen. He made a cameo and then walked away. This is just BEGGING for some more backstory. Even though he has never used dragon Pokémon before. It could still happen. I want Plumeria to have a different role than 'big sister' this time. Especially if Team Skull is non-existent or something. It'd be cool to see her with her Salazzle, maybe running the old Fire trial or something? #MissingNo
You know what we almost never get to see as a gym leader? Dark type specialists. So seeing Nanu as an island kahuna specializing in dark types made me happy. Hopefully he returns, perhaps as a new gym leader.
Am I the only person who kind of wants to see a normal-type Elite Four? I don't know how likely it is that USUM would have a Pokémon League, but I think it could have some potential. Also, an ice-type specialist. They could maybe be a tourist that's unaccustomed to Alola's warm climate.
Ice type got almost completely shafted in SM(Not that this is anything new), other than four beautiful Alolan forms, we only really got one Ice type that is a completely new Pokémon, which is only available once you reach one of the final areas of the game, the same place where you randomly find the Z-Crystal. There isn't even any character in the game to my knowledge who represents the type. I really want to see a new character with their own trial/challenge who specialises in Ice types, perhaps the main villain of the game could do that? I think that'd be interesting.
Yeah, I agree here. There are plenty of different avenues to go with Dark and Ice type specialists, although they haven't really appeared much in previous games.
Dang it, Marine and Illusion! You beat me to the punch. They're both completely right. Despite the stigma against Dark types and the overwhelming challenges that Ice users fave, they're two of my favorite types, and completely under represented throughout Pokémon history. (Though I do realize that Ice has at least had gyms and Elite 4 in a few gens, like III and V.) I would also low key like to see a fire - ice type hybrid. >.>
I'd like to see and Ice specialist Trial Captain like a lot of other people here, but I can't agree that the type is underrepresented. With three Gym Leaders and two Elite Four members, Ice feels like its actually pretty well covered. That more type specialists than Flying, Poison, Ground, Dark and Fairy; and the same as Normal, Grass, Rock, Bug and Steel.
I'd like to see more Poison! As far as I can remember, Poison has only had 3 gymleaders (Koga, Janine, and Roxy) and 1 Elite Four (Koga)
It'll be cool to see a bug trial captain. There's lots of cool looking bug types out there that need more love. If Guzma was the bug trial captain that would be interesting.
Well there was actually a trial that had dragon but the pokémon didn't have any trainer, so I'm not sure if you wanna count that. But is kinda refreshing to not see a dragon type as trial or elite four, or really dragon type trainers in general. A poison trial would be nice, just because that type don't seem to get a lot of love.
