Alright, now I've been playing SF4 since Vanilla Super when that first came out. I loved the game for what it was, but it seems like it's been getting the Madden treatment with every year there's a new installment to the same game. Ultra follows this after Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition. Now, I love this game yes, but do I think that it's just OH MAH GAWD GREAZT GAEM EVA! FUCK NO! Capcom did not listen to their Q/A team one bit with this update. There are things that completely unbalanced, hitbox issues on certain characters, others just aren't viable when it comes to pro-play, and some characters are either too damn good, or too damn safe on their moves. Poison and Yun for instance. Now the Motto that was pitched before the game's release was and I quote.

" We're making every character viable in competitive play." - Peter "ComboFiend" Rosas

Did they do this? Once again, FUCK NO. What Capcom did was essentially what they have been doing since the beginning of this franchise expansion. "Keep the strong characters strong, keep the weak characters weak." A shining example of this would be YUN. In Vanilla AE he was nearly broken in status and caused a lot of people to switch to him because of all he could do and how he was able to completely abuse the system while being safe on almost everything he threw out. They nerfed him in AE v.2012 because of this fact and he was still quite strong. In USF4 they buffed him once more to not only topple his AE iteration but to be the best character in the game on paper. With access to Red Focus Cancel his combos do a lot of damage due to the added crumple and with the fact that he can build all of his meter in less than 20 seconds in the match, he's able to abuse it. They made his EX Dash Punch completely safe on block, and his normals set him at plus frames on block.

Now let's take DeeJay. DeeJay in AE v.2012 was B- Tier at best. He had okay damage, alright mix-up potential, and he was most known for all of his anti-airs that he had in his arsenal. Now the thing that made him B- tier was the fact that by using LK. Sobat he was able to get over low attacks and punish you for it. In Ultra they nerfed his low invincibility on LK. Sobat, they nerfed his damage output, and they even nerfed his hitbox on Machine Gun Upper as well as his Ultra two so now one of his most damaging combos is not even able to connect on certain characters. He's essentially gone from B- to C- because of these changes. If you wish to know more, I'll leave a link at the bottom for all the bugs and issues that have been found in Ultra. You'll be surprised at how many problems there are from this game, regardless I'll still be playing it though and waiting for the disk release so the patches can take place if they ever come.
