Gameplay Journal UNBREAKABLE: Mandriel's Diamond Nuzlocke (complete)

I'm glad I'm not the only person who had to suffer against Lucian Thanks for the support! I hope I've trained Kit enough to take on his team...

 

Now, we fight a nice old lady! I always really liked Bertha for some reason. She reminds me of a cool grandma or something.

Anyway, I put Mimie at the front of my party and gave her a Miracle Seed. Half her moves are grass-type attacks, so she'd better do good against all of Berthas Pokémon with double weaknesses.

So, Bertha starts by sending out her quagsire! Mimie uses Grass Knot, but the quagsire uses Protect. Ugh. On the next turn, Mimie uses Grass Knot again, knocking it out in one hit. Ha!
Next, Bertha sends out sudowoodo. I keep Mimie in the battlefield, but I know that the sudowoodo has the move Sucker Punch, so I'm going to have to be careful. I have Mimie use Recycle and the sudowoodo uses Sandstorm. Well, that was a turn wasted. Mimie uses Recycle again and the sudowoodo uses Sucker Punch, which doesn't hit. Recycle again, the sudowoodo uses Hammer Arm. Sucker Punch, Recycle. Recycle, Earthquake. I heal Mimie with a Hyper Potion as the sudowoodo uses Hammer Arm. Sucker Punch, Recycle. Sucker Punch, Recycle. Sucker Punch, Recycle. Now the bastard's finally out of PP for Sucker Punch, we use Grass Knot! It knocks the sudowoodo out in one hit. Yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!
She sends hippowdon out next. I send out Bing Bing, who resists the sandstorm caused by its Sand Stream ability. Bing Bing uses Surf, which knocks it out in one go.
Bertha sends out golem. I swap Bing Bing out for Mimie as she needs the experience. Mimie uses Grass Knot and the golem faints in one move.
Her last Pokémon is whiscash. Grass Knot brings it down to low health but doesn't knock it out. Whiscash uses Aqua tail, bringing Mimie down to even lower health. Mimie uses Grass Knot again and it faints.

Two down, two to go! Well, technically, there are three left, but I'm trying to keep a positive attitude here.

Today we're fighting Flint. AKA, the Elite Four who's supposed to specialise in fire-types, but only has two Pokémon of that type. You'd think that once Game Freak realised this generation was severely lacking in fire Pokémon, they'd add some more.

Anyway, I put Bing Bing at the front of my party with a Mystic Water and Flint sends out his rapidash. One-hit KO! We're off to a good start!
Flint sends out infernape and I swap Bing Bing out for Mimie. Infernape uses Earthquake, taking a little more than a third of Mimie's HP, but Mimie's Psychic attack knocks it out in one hit.
The next Pokémon is drifblim and I send out Chino holding a Magnet. Thunderbolt knocks it out in one hit and due to me using a special move, Aftermath isn't triggered.
Flint uses lopunny and I send out Bing Bing. It faints after two Waterfalls.
Finally, he sends out steelix. I keep Bing Bing on the battlefield, and he knocks it out with one Surf.

Well, that was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I guess it won't hurt to get Lucian out of the way...

This is it, guys! I'm facing my greatest fear in the game! I have never been able to beat this trainer without several rematches. There's nothing to gain by waiting, so I might as well challenge him. This is it. I've talked to him right now. He's sent out his first Pokémon.

I'm scared.

He sends out Mr Mime and I send out Kit. Don't fail me now, my trusty skunk! Yeah! It was KOed by a single Night Slash! I'm so proud of her!
The next Pokémon is bronzong, and I send out Dash who's holding a Shuca Berry in case the bronzong doesn't faint and decides to use Earthquake. Dash uses Fire Blast and the bronzong's health goes to red and is healed slightly by its Sitrus Berry. It uses Calm Mind. I use flamethrower, knocking it out. Dash grows to level 67!
His next Pokémon is girafarig, so I send Kit back out. Once more, my garbage cat knocks it out in one move.
He then sends out alakazam. The alakazam moves first, but its Focus Blast misses and Kit's Night Slash KOs it.
The final Pokémon is medicham. I swap Kit for Flappy. Flappy uses Fly, one-hit KOing it.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! I did it! I beat him! After days of training and planning, the deed has been done! Now all that stands in my way is the Champion herself! Tune in later for the ultimate showdown!!!!

Ok, enough dilly-dally! I've made you wait long enough after forgetting about this challenge for the last few days! I am a responsible adult now and I shall use my time playing video games! Here we come, Cynthia!

Flappy is sent out first, facing off against Cynthia's spiritomb. Flappy uses Fly, avoiding the spiritomb's Embargo and cutting it down to yellow health. Spiritomb uses Silver Wind and Flappy uses Fly again, avoiding its Dark Pulse and knocking it out.
Cynthia sends out milotic and I send out Kit. She uses Night Slash and the milotic uses Ice Beam, freezing her solid. Well crap. I use a Full Restore and the milotic uses Surf, taking half her health. I swap Kit out for Mimie who can take Special attacks a lot better. Mimie uses Grass Knot, cutting the milotic down to red HP and the milotic uses Aqua Ring. Cynthia uses a Full Resore as Mimie uses Grass Knot again. Milotc uses surf. Mimie uses Grass Knot one last time, knocking it out.
Next Pokémon is a roserade, so I swap Mimie out for Flappy. Flappy uses Fly. Instant KO!
Cynthia is about to send out gastrodon. I send out Mime again and hope her Grass Knot will knock it out in one hit, as he's on low health. She uses Grass Knot and... Down to red health! Arrrrgh! Gastrodon uses Stone Edge and by some insane luck, it misses. Cynthia uses another Full Restore as Mimie uses Magical Leaf, taking it back down to red health. Another Magical Leaf knocks it down for good. Mimie grew to level 69! Heheheh....
Cynthia sends out lucario, so I send out Dash. Dash goes first with Fire Blast, and it faints in one hit. Yeeeeeah!
The last Pokémon is garchomp. One final Pokémon until I've finished this challenge... I send out Bing Bing, my starter. He's holding an Icicle Plate to boost the power of Ice Beam. The garchomp moves first with Brick Break, taking about a third of his HP. Ice Beam hits... And it's a one-hit KO!

Ahhh! I did it! It's been one heck of a journey and I couldn't have done it without patience, hard work and dumb luck. Lots of dumb luck. I think I might take a break from Nuzlockes for a little while, though I'm considering doing a run of Black 2 when I'm not so busy.
