A still unreleased game title slated to be released January 26th 2018, after over a decade of not being on the PlayStation Monster Hunter it have once again returned its first console. This title brings stunning graphics and improved gameplay with it as well as new additions. I tried out the PS4 beta on December 8-12 and I must say is most impressive. It will also get released for Xbox One the 26th and planned for a PC release later I've been unable to find a date for the PC release so far.

    Gameplay and new additions

Gameplay is like you know it from previous with a few more things, one being better item access. You have the option to use hotkey shortcuts for choosing items so you do not have to flip through everything to get to what you need, lemme tell ya it saved my butt at times while playing the beta. Due to being on PlayStation 4 rather than a handheld the graphic is much more realistic, movements are smoother and so is the reaction times, even doing online multi player things seems to run extremely smooth compared to the handheld games that usually suffered from disconnection issues.

Scout flies is a new feature in MH World, these little glowing bugs will help you track down monsters and mark things such a footprints, skit marks and other things monsters leave behind as they move across the map. These bugs automatically mark tracks and other things near you such and herbs, berries and mushrooms. You do not have to follow these helpful bugs tho if you don’t want to, you can just go out and look on your own if that’s what you desire.

Seamless area change, there’s no longer a need to load each time you enter a new area yes no more annoying long loads if your net should be slow because everything is already loaded. Personally something I’m really happy about because the older games liked to troll you by having the monster leave when you finally loaded into the new area.

The weapons for all previous games return so you can enjoy this breath taking game with your favorite weapon in hand. Palicos are in the game as well but the prowlers sadly do not appear to be making an appearance in World.

Mantle is a new addition these cloaks can give different effects for a set amount of time such as stealth or attract a monster’s attention depending on which one you choose.

One of the best additions in my opinion tho is a more dynamic interaction between monsters and environment on a map; larger monster may ignore you and attack each other instead creating a scenario called turf war. This can be to your advantage as turf wars between monsters can deal enormous amount of damage to each other making your job easier should your target be the one losing the fight.

Use the surrounding area to your advantage, you as well as the monster can be affected by the surroundings. A monster knocking over a vine covered tree could end up getting tangled up in the vines for a short period of time leaving it open to attacks. Running across sand dunes can make you slide down them, a great speed boost or a fast way to get yourself eaten should you slide straight into the jaws of a monster. Waking through areas with higher water levels or mud affects your mobility not enough for it to be unbearable but enough that you can feel it as you’ll move slightly slower passing through these areas.

Like with most other new releases World have some new monsters as well as some returning ones. Only 11 monsters from previous titles will return in World, 5 small and 6 large monsters, one of the large monsters being target for a quest in the beta. 46 new monsters will also make an appearance along with a brand new classification, wingdrakes. 2 of these new monsters a getting showcased in the beta where they’re your quest target.

There’s plenty of more to talk about but I don’t wanna lay everything bare gotta leave something for those of you that may be interested in trying out this game once is released.

I'm actually looking forward to playing this game with my brother. We've both been Monster Hunter fans since the fourth installment, and it's some of the only few games we ever get to play together cooperatively (as my brother and me usually take different sides when it comes to game genres). Here's hoping it supports local play just as well as online.

Sadly from what I've read just now by doing a quick search it appears that local play is not going to be a thing in World.

It looks really cool, but I never managed to get into the series.

Dang it... Hopefully it supports other consoles then. Though that means I'll have to buy my own copy alongside my brother's. :wry:
