A lot of people on Lake Valor know that my real name is Marcus. It's not something I hide at all. In fact, it's slapped on the end of my Skype name. Due to this, I occasionally have people in Skype chats call me Marcus rather than Madness. Every time that happens, I get a little bit thrown off. I forget that people are talking to me when they say "Marcus."

Funny enough, I actually am known as Madness to more people than I am known as Marcus. For this reason, I tend to mistakenly tell people that my name is Madness. I don't think of myself as Marcus. I mentally consider myself to be Madness.

I'm curious. Does anyone else do this, or is it just me? Does anyone else feel closer to their username more often than their birth name?

Funny enough, I do the same thing. My real name is Ashlee, but I just tell people to call me either Luna or Lunar due to my username. And because of that, I'm use to being called that a lot. At first, I'd just have everyone call me by my username, LunarRabbitPikachu. But I can understand that people would shorten it from time to time. Most would call me Lunar, while a few others would call me Luna, Rabbit, or my real name (sometimes Ash just to make it even more shorter lol).

My best friend does this. He has a nickname he goes by, yet it's been used so often and so prevalently that it has completely usurped his legal name; thus, he considers that his real name. (To cement the issue, he changed his legal name to incorporate his actual name, so the confusion would disappear.)

I myself, however? I am Eclipse entirely online, but in person, my name is something else completely. Offline I have absolutely no ties to the name of Eclipse, as that is a completely distinct and separate identity. That isn't to say I dislike this name - rather, I'ver grown quite fond of it - but each of my names has its place, and I permit no overlap.

I introduce myself in a very particular manner. If I introduce myself as Eclipse, I expect people to address me as Eclipse, and only Eclipse. If I introduce myself under another name, I expect people to address me by that name, and only that name. I am not in the habit of making exceptions, especially in regards to my monikers.

So I kind of changed of changed my LV name to what my name literally is. Granted it's a shortened version but no one calls me anything but Nate in real life or online anyway. Makes things pretty simple. I like the name Nate a lot so it's all good.

I go by different names on different places. Sometimes I tend to change what name it is repeatedly. I've gotten really used to being called Nayru, so when someone is having a conversation about the Zelda series or something connected to it there's a possibility of me getting real confused.
Although I've kind of already dropped that name and most places know me as Kay Faraday by now. Which confuses me when people skip the O from Okay.

I don't react to my real name. I've never really felt any connection with it, and I don't really like it, so....

My name is Chris, but everyone here calls me Aura. Even when I changed my username, people still called me Aura. And, while I was under the other username, when people called my real name out to me, I didn't respond.

I still don't XD I'm so used to being called Aura now.

I don't have an attachment to names so I jump between them a lot, which has led to a hell of a lot of nicknames >V>;; At one point I had this 'name' of sorts that included every standout moment over a ~2 year period in a word or two and it got veeeery long. I remember the first three were Harry Pineapple Johnson but the rest is ??? iunno

Alice gets used a lot because someone else decided everyone should call me that and nobody has argued much. Mag is used everywhere too despite that username being dead and gone now lmao, but I'm fine with any name really. Within reason, of course.

I'm not picky about what I'm called, but in-person or over voice-chat, I prefer not to be called brsajo because it can be cringy when people try to pronounce it and it sounds nothing like how I say it. In text, I'm okay with anything.

My Usernames is Pronounced the same way as my real name Juhani, so it really makes no difference to me.

I have however gotten the Nickname Honey through my username. I like to use peoples real names. I think its just good habits and makes interacting with other people feel better for me.

But yeah Calling me YH, Honey, Juhani or whatever does not bother me.

I don't feel closer to it, but I will respond to it. No one calls me that in person though (except my friends teasing me occasionally). They do kind of have different personalities tied to them.

Endrew- The confidant and social (by comparison) version of me, used for gaming and online.

Derek- The actual me. Same personality, but much less confidant and social.

Not big differences but still there. Really, it is just that if I screw up, its not Derek that did it, its an online name (obviously not literall, but it isn't me who is remembered, its my username). Often times when websites ask for my real name, I still answer Endrew Swiftwind. It gives me privacy as well. But in person, I always answer with my real name. Only friends and family know of my email address of that name, and only my dad and closer friends know of my alter ego. No one knows all of my alter egos other than me, but they are basically all Endrew with different names.

Some people call me Cipher. It's been a videogame nickname for me for a while, so people who I game with sometimes just apply that to me outside of the gaming environment. Just like in nickname thread a little while ago, I'm okay with being called almost anything, so whether I'm Zero or Cipher or whatever it's all cool.

I will agree with Endrew above that my difference in names is almost like wearing different hats (in a job-doing sense). It might be because of the comfort level of the groups that call me by different names, but Zero is more forward and extrovert than organic me (maybe because it makes me compare myself to Mega Man Zero, like how superhero clothes make people more confident), and Cipher/Sifr (the me that most of you know) is moderately in the middle of my chill and introvert self and the maximally extrovert Zero self-concept. I'm still the same person with the same opinions and preferences and all that, but it's a matter of how outward I am about it all.

My online nickname and my real name are both the same: Rio. Though, if you wanna get technical, my real real name (the one that's on my birth certificate) is James, but nobody calls me that except doctors and substitute teachers.

This tends to be awkward, as I don't think of myself as James, I think of myself as Rio, so if someone called out "James!" in the hallway, I wouldn't react, so subs and people like that often have to call out my name twice during attendance. It's kind of awkward...

I like my RL name. But online, with one exception, I am LadySmugleaf. Though I tend to go more by Smug than LadySmugleaf (Thanks to @YouHoney).

That used to be the case for me, but not so much anymore. It would take more effort to respond to Strytho if it was done IRL, but it could happen.

In Lake Valor, I'm Ho-Oh and my sister is Lugia. It's pretty obvious. My best friend on this site knows my real name, and my twin's. Well, she is my best friend. Sometimes, she calls me Reshiram and my twin sister Zekrom, or me Pit or my sister Dark Pit. I love my real name, and I love my family. Sometimes I wish people addressed me by the names of my favourite characters, but I don't have enough close friends to do so. It's just my best friend.

nah, if anything getting called by my username feels weird.

i'm not called doctorflygon on many places anymore, so i'm used to either being called either sean or slick (i'm called slick clefairy on a lot of sites) at this point.

My actual name is Tammy. It's honestly really strange whenever someone online calls me my actual name because I feel a little closer to Lost. Don't get me wrong, I love my name, but I think I'm more used to referring to myself as Lost online. It's a little more comforting to me. Also, Lost rolls off the tongue way better than Tammy any day.

Part of my real name is John. Its quite suprising that nobody refers me to this. I do have two words in my name, and John is part of it. I like using John as an holder for now.

now lets go into this part, my name isint even visible anywhere. Nobody refers me to it. And I feel relieved. I also cover up with another name, Dont let go.
IRL, people refer me to John or something else I forgot.
(hint: I am also referred as JM, so find out M :^)

My name is Amanda. People online call me by both my name and Synerjee, so there isn't really much distinction between either of them when it comes to familiarity. I'd prefer you to call me by my real name though, especially if we have interacted before.
