With the introduction of the Dexnav and its super useful function, there is a way to catch shiny Pokémon you want! It's better than the Pokeradar as the Dexnav actually allows you to pick and decide which Pokémon you want; the only condition is that you have had to encountered and captured the Pokémon. It's like the pokeradar except you don't have to recharge steps or blindly search or hope you chain the same Pokémon again and again. So the steps to chaining a Pokémon using the dexnav.Step 1: Stock on Repels and Pokeballs. Step 2: Be sure that you have captured all available Pokémon in the area. (I am not sure if this is legit, but I read a comment that chaining only worked once they'd caught all the Pokémon in the area). Step 3: After encountering and capturing the Pokémon in the area, pick which Pokémon you would like to encounter. Tip 1: you should up your Search Level (it's in the top right corner of the Dexnav which tells you how many times you have encountered the Pokémon). It's best to start chaining around S.L 30 and above because this increases the chance of finding Pokémon with Egg moves, higher levels and/or their hidden abilities, but you can also start from the beginning. Step 4: Begin the chain with your first encounter. You cannot run away - just like the pokeradar - you have to either faint the Pokémon or capture it. Tip 2: you have about a minute to reach the Pokémon you are chaining before it runs away, don't run because if you scare it away, it breaks the chain. Tip 3: if the Dexnav locates a Pokémon you aren't chaining, don't fret; just encounter it, battle/capture it, just be sure to encounter it or else it breaks the chain. Step 5: Continue chaining until you encounter a shiny. Tip 4: Don't exit the route as this breaks the chain. Tip 5: If you can't find any Pokémon using the dexnav, try in a different area. Sometimes this will lead to the dexnav locating another Pokémon. Tip 6: As your S.L increases, the Pokémon you are encountering will also increase in level and every 5 Pokémon you will encounter a Pokémon that is 10 levels higher than the level it appears at. And after this encounter the Pokémon will increase by one level. Tip 7: You can save, put your 3DS on standby and even change your Pokémon around and your chain will not break. It will break if you switch your 3DS off. Tip 8: Due to the time constraint, if you want to take a break, you enter a battle with the Pokémon and put it on sleep mode and charge it and this does not break your chain. Tip 9: You know you're still chaining when the levels do not suddenly drop back down. Also the level might drop slightly when you've chained to 100. I've heard that some people have found shinies in 45 minutes or they've chained at least 60 times. I've attempted to replicate this but I unfortunately at the time had not caught all available Pokémon in the area. I might try again tonight. I hope this helps! Happy shiny hunting with your Dexnav!
