Box Art. I mean it is literally the one detail that tends to be disregarded at times now. Just like DVD covers, the Box Art of a game shows you what you should expect from the game you are about to buy. For example the smash bros Box art for both the 3DS and Wii U version. They could have used the exact same box art you know, but hey they didn't. Instead, they changed it up to not only show both games are in some way different, but still contain the same characters you know in love. Every Box Art could even tell a story, and just helps the buyer of the game have something cool to look at while they purchase and drive home to play the game. Every Box Art tends to be fairly detailed with just great art and visuals. Sure sometimes the Box Art for some games fall flat but developers still try their best on them. Even Indie devs who don't even sell their games in cases still make a Box Art for their game when it's on the online game market.

What is your favorite Box Art from which game and Why? What do you think is the Goal of the video game Box Art? Do you think Box Arts are similar to Movie Posters? What do you do with your empty cases when your done with a game? Do you place the boxes somewhere to look at the art, or just keep them on a shelf to collect dust?

It's hard choosing a favorite, but I really like Skyward Sword's box art. It's literally gold! Additionally, it shows Link holding his sword upwards; hence "skyward". It'd be kind of silly to say video game box art is like a movie poster, when DVD boxes come with box art of its own. I keep my video game boxes on the shelf, and if I want a different game in the system, I will simply put whichever game was in the console back in its designated box.

I'm going to say that the best box art out of any game I own should go to Kingdom Hearts. I just think that it has this nice atmosphere about it and for some reason, it makes me feel nostalgic even though it is a game that I don't play very often.

I think box art is pretty cool when it is done right. My favourite box arts have to be that of MYST (Which deceived me really well into thinking it was fun) and the Fire Emblem games which were in no way deceiving.
