Just as the name suggests, this is a video game topic about OSTs, or if you prefer, you can simply refer this topic as a topic all about video game music. So, what are your favourite pieces of music or soundtracks from video games, and why? Is a specific game where it has all, or most of your favourite tracks? How do these tracks enhance your video game playing experience? What are your least favourite tracks, and what don't you like about them?

Feel free to list all your favorite / non-favorite tracks here, and feel free to list your favourites from a video game series!

For myself, I really like the Donkey Kong music from either Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Quest, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze because their music 'fits' in each of their level. Sometimes you get really calm and peaceful levels where you get really tranquil music that compliments that, and all you want to do is just sit back, and listen, like what Forest Interlude provides. Sometimes you get levels where you just want to get into it - like Grassland Grove, when you play 3-1 on Tropical Freeze. Gods, I was really into that level; it gave off a lion king vibe at first, which was really amazing how they did that, and I looove at the end of the level where they say Donkey Kong together; maaaaan, I cried! Sometimes you get really exhilarating levels in Donkey Kong, and of course, music compliments that, and how some of the OSTs in the Donkey Kong series are more fast paced and vibrant, which gives you a feeling on, you better hurry up, or else you'll lose! Ah, David wise is amazing. <33

Bravely Default is a game that has my favourite OSTs too. Well, it's a recently new game, but gods the OST in that game is amazing, especially the boss fight music like the OST, That Person's Name Is. Sometimes you get a silly vibe from these bosses, but wow, the music is really epic. Even the normal enemy fights are pretty easy going to listen too! They use a lot of guitars for their battle tracks, as you probably know already if you've played already, and even some of their overworld tracks like in some dungeons, and hey, even the world map, is pretty amazing.

In addition, some of my absolute favourite video game musics come from the Golden Sun series. They are addicting to listen to, and the tunes are just... amazing for the GBA. Another series that have amazing tracks in my opinion are the ones from Fire Emblem, since they can range from mystic, to suspenseful, to just silly, which I find are refreshing! Finally, I'm going to mention the music tracks from the Phoenix Wright series, because they are always amazing to listen to as well.

    Touhou.

I can't begin to say just how amazing ZUN's soundtracks are. Each song perfectly reflects the stage, mood, and overall theme of the game. For example, Touhou 10 has soundtracks which are all autumn-ish. Touhou 8's OSTs reflect more of a night-time feel. Anyway, I feel like Touhou has some of the best soundtracks out there, but I'm probably a bit biased on that one. Here's a few samples of Touhou music:

Emotional Skyscraper ~ Cosmic Mind: Touhou 12 - Undefined Fantastic Object: Byakuren Hijiri's theme

The Fantastic Legend of Tohno: Touhou 7 - Perfect Cherry Blossom: Stage 2 theme

Green Eyed Jealousy: Touhou 11 - Subterranean Animism: Parsee Mizuhashi's theme

Every time someone mentions video game music, Link makes a side jump in Gerudo Valley. Other than that, I really like the music in Donkey Kong 64. One of the regular boss battles has a soundtrack even more epic as the final boss :O

    As said before...

I'm going to mention either Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Quest, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, or Bravely Default. Well, first, the Donkey Kong tracks from DKC2 and Tropical Freeze are outstanding, like one of my favourites here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IUXyzqrZsw

The variety and diversity of the game is outstanding. There's an abundance of tracks, and most are excellent. My favorite thing about the music is that they made the levels all that memorable, because they fit perfectly. David Wise made absolute sure that they're appropriately atmospheric for their respective level. If you put Grassland Groove's music into Baobab Bonanza, despite the similar theme of both levels, it wouldn't work. The music and level in the games complement each other so well.

Personally speaking, I'd have to say the OSTs for both Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 were truly wonderful and enjoyable, I'm almost certain most people feel the same way actually due to how well acclaimed the Galaxy games are. Epic, soothing, mysterious, there's all sorts of different music present in these games at various points, and it often blends really well with what's going on around you no matter what the case may be. :>

I love the team plasma grunt theme, I even have it on my phone xD

If we're non Pokémon music, I really like the music in Sonic and the Black Knight. That soundtrack as a whole is just great.

Oh goodness Donkey Kong Country definitely had one of the most beautiful soundtracks out of any game that I've played. Forest Interlude, Arctic Abyss, Aquatic Ambiance, Oil Drum Alley, and Bramble Blast were some of my absolute favorites. Another game's soundtrack I'd like the mention is Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel. Not only did the game have astronomical graphics, the music was so entrancing that I really did feel like I was in another world when playing the game.

I honestly don't play many games besides Pokémon. So probably my favorite track would be Zinnia's battle theme... It sounds extremely fitting for someone who holds a title such as Lorekeeper.

Oh man,my absolute favorite piece of video game music at the moment would have to be one-winged angel from FF7! That theme is just too awesome!

I also love the shovel knight soundtrack, as well as all Pokémon music!

Can we all just take a moment to stop and appreciate the Xenoblade Chronicles, Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, and Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask OSTs? Easily some of the greatest Soundtracks of all time!

I've always loved the music in the Ace Combat and Halo series. Both series have music that fits the theme of what is going on at the time really well.

Final Fantasy VII / III, the music is beautiful. This particular clip is the song that plays when you're in the overworld screen.

Pretty much every song conveys its point amazingly. And I never once encountered a song that I didn't like. I love that game. <3
