Streaming video games has become a hugely popular source of entertainment, as well as a hobby (or even career!) for some people. Do you watch video game streams? Which streamers are your favorites? How often do you watch streams and what streaming website(s) (YouTube, Twitch, etc) do you use? If you don't, why not?
Sometimes when I actually can. I like to watch Protonjon, Lucahjin, and Tom Fawkes because silly things happened while they stream on Twitch.
Only private share plays. I'm not really all that interested in watching other people play video games - they're either games I would want to experience for myself or have experienced, or games I'm not interested in. As I don't know these people personally and can't interact with them in any way...it's just not really all that exciting to me.
Sometimes! I’ve watched Haydunn’s streams, and I’ve also watched the Overwatch League matches. Although I tend to watch art streams more often, if I were to be honest.
Streams are always harder to watch then regular let's play videos, but there is a little more freedom with a stream. It is just hard to commit to the multi hour time of the video usually. I prefer to watch streams on Twitch, though there are a couple youtubers who stream that I watch. Mostly it has just been Legend of Zelda games that I have watched.
Back on my old computer, I couldn't watch streams because they're highly resource-intensive, more so than a simple video would be. Now that I have a newer computer, I don't need to worry about that quite as much. However, do I watch streams? No I don't, because there's no Pause button. That may seem trite to some, but in order for me to focus on a stream, I will have to close, minimise, or otherwise remove all outside distractions, and pay attention solely to the video. It is not something I can pause partway and come back to later either, so I'm generally compelled to watch it as it's going on. This gets tricky, because if I'm focused on a different detail than the gamer, I can't rewind and go back to watch it again. (This is mediated if the stream has a saved video later.) The worst part is that I forget to eat - because eating and drinking counts as an 'outside distraction'. Plus, if I go up and get some food, I'll come back and the action will have gone on without me, I will have missed a noticeable chunk of the time, and will have to keep watching without the outside context. There's also not a lot of charm in watching someone play a video game (or any activity, really) for an hour or more, if you aren't really into it yourself. So I suppose it would be fairer of me to say that I don't watch any streams, regardless of whether or not they're video-game based. I used to, but my headaches can't handle that anymore.
I tend not to watch streams live anymore because of lag, although I haven't tried since getting a different internet service. I watch GTLive a lot, but always their archives. They're good for if I want to watch something longer than a usual lets play, which tends to only be around 10-20 minutes unless binge watching a series. I watch archives of Markiplier's charity streams sometimes too. Mostly I just watch pre-recorded videos.
I've never watched a stream live, but I have watched some archived streams from TFS Plays and GTLive. I've considered streaming (or even just let's playing) but I'm not sure if I have the right equipment setup for it and my work schedule is a bit random so I'm not sure if I really have the time commitment for it either.
Definitely! Heck, I'm watching The Completionist playing Sonic 3 and Knuckles on Twitch right now. I also watch TheJWittz (he's playing all the Kingdom Hearts games right now), GaijinGoombah (he does the Culture Shock videos for Game Theory, as well as running his own channel), and this really chill dood called Micah the Brave (he's doing Pokémon Yellow). Obviously I don't have enough time in the day for all of them, but they're great to have on in the background as I work, especially since I can tab over pretty quickly if there's something I want to ask - and they're all great guys that try their hardest to pay attention to the chat and interact with it even while they're fighting a boss. Aside from that, I watch GTLive on Youtube. I'm glad that they're able to keep things going for themselves even as a lot of gamers go to Twitter for their livestreaming work, and their work to improve Youtube as a platform (especially after the nonsense of that fool who filmed himself doing a lot of idiotic stuff while in Japan). I don't watch TFS regularly, but I know of them through GaijinGoombah and watched a stream once, and they seem alright.
depends on if you mean actual streams like twitch...or youtube. cause i LIVE off of youtube. i watch markiplier, jacksepticeye, gamegrumps. in terms of twitch streaming i usually just watch maximillian dood. i dont know many other twitch streamers
nah. unless watching certain mmorpg streamers count, then im not really a big streamer type of person; dont really get the appeal.
