For several years, Nintendo has had the virtual console on some of their do consoles, which allows people to play classic games on new consoles. However, there is no virtual console on the Nintendo Switch, and it hasn't been announced yet for it. Because of this, some people have reverted to emulators to play old games. Nintendo has been cracking down on that though, making it tough to play older games for some people. (I personally don't use emulators) I currently own Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country 1 & 2, and Pokémon Yellow. I've beat all of them except Pokémon Yellow. What are your thoughts on the virtual console? Should they release it for the Switch? What games would you like to see on the Virtual Console? What games do you have?
I got a few Virtual Console titles and I really hope they'll do something similar for the Switch since some older games are loved by many so it would be great for them to get to play on the Switch too plus it would be a quick buck for them. I own Pokémon Red, Pokémon Silver, Pokémon Crystal, Pokémon Puzzle League, Pokémon Trading Card Game, Super Mario Land 2, Kirby's Adventure, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
I would be happy to see the VC return to the Switch, they could release some more obscure GC games for it.
I've never used the virtual console because I already have most of most of the games that I would want to play on their original systems. However, I would want to play a lot of old games on the Switch if they were available and wouldn't mind if they brought Virtual Console onto the system. Preferably in package deals that have all of the big-name games from a specific console in a single bundle.
The virtual console used to be my favorite part of Nintendo’s eshop offerings, but my interest has declined as I started to buy the original consoles. Even so, I’m glad these services have given people the ability to play classic games without having to look for an old cartridge. It widens the playerbase and lets these games have more staying power.
