Some of you may know about this, I've just recently found out about it.

But apparently, this theme park is going to be available to the public in 2016.

The Oculus Rift has introduced many possibilities for Virtual Reality Gaming, starting with this, we are witnessing a new evolution of gaming that was once thought to be impossible. Just imagine what this kind of gaming might bring to the table in the next 10 years? Controllers might become, some day, a tiny novelty for those who has managed to keep their old gaming systems in operating conditions as virtual gaming has become apart of everything.

As technology and gaming evolve, I can't help but think that the once known "lazy gamer" could quite possibly become the world's greatest athlete. Imagine this: being broadcast on Live Television, a game that is being viewed from the virtual reality perspective. The players are located in a stadium twice the size as a football stadium. These players are on separate teams performing in tasks that vaguely resemble MOBAs.

My friends, I believe within 25 to 30 years, this scenario may become a reality.

How does this make you feel?
Do you find this kind of thing exciting?
Would you be willing to participate in virtual realities?

Doesn't look like it's for the faint of heart. I can see some ridiculous lawsuit 4-5 years from now people suffering PTSD from using the device. Nevertheless, it looks pretty cool! I'm glad the Virtual Boy finally got a head strap, haha. As for the park, that's gonna be a hell of a lot of money put into it, I'd imagine. The future is here and now.

    ^ That's me.

I want to be there. Ever since I watched SAO, I've wanted a more realistic version of 4D gaming, and this is definitely it. Imagine how busy and expensive this'll probably be though :o

This is also possible. I've been wanting a game to test my physical limits while also provoking my imagination for a long time.

How do you figure it'd cause PTSD?

War based games (CoD for example) that may give the user the sense of being in an actual war. It sounds silly, but no one should be surprised if we see a ludicrous lawsuit of that nature headed our way someday. People with anxiety issues shouldn't be playing virtual reality games like that to begin with anyhow.

I suppose you do have a point, but I feel like that'd only be in extreme cases.

The mind is a powerful thing and subconsciously you'll know it's not reality. Besides, the problem is, exactly how would you get a "game over"?
I suppose in the distant future things might change in that aspect but as for now I don't think PSTD would be an issue in virtual reality.

When you fall from being shot, of course!
But seriously, a person could get a game over in the same manner as other FPS games, though there may be a SAO-style menu for users to see what type of damage they've taken, provided it wasn't immediately harmful enough for a game over:

I agree, I'm not entirely sure that VR video games would actually cause this disorder, though I guess it depends on the intensity of the experience and how real it seems. Something that may be interesting to think about is the "Inception-effect"; those that can't tell reality and surrealism apart.

    Exactly.

I feel like there had to be some deep psychological rooted problem for that to be an issue. Like if the person truly already had pre-existing PTSD, the VR could trigger it. But can we not say the same thing for games that aren't virtual reality?
