Visual Novels, often shortened to 'VNs', are games that focus very heavily on story, hence the name. They're a combination of the video game and writing mediums, with the player usually making decisions as a plot unfolds. The level of gameplay involved depends on the game, with some having more and others having next to none.
Are you someone who enjoys visual novels or are they not your cup of tea, and why? Are there any specific visual novels you enjoyed or disliked, or have you not played any at all?

Of the visual novel series I have seen and heard of, I have enjoyed them immensely. I know for myself that I much prefer gameplay to story in a video game, but when the story is the gameplay, there comes with it a level of immersion that is hard to come by otherwise. Were I to evaluate the genre as a whole, I think VNs that are executed well are superb works of art, but I don't know how easy or hard it is to perform that level of execution.

I've only played one series of visual novels myself, that being the Ace Attorney series. The other two I have heard and seen, yet not played, are Danganronpa and Asura's Wrath - though the second one is a bit debatable on what it actually is, as it crosses over quite a few genre lines (you basically punch people in cutscenes using timed button inputs, though most of the game focuses on the story).
