Last year, the Jewel Pokémon Diancie was revealed. It was the second Fairy-type Legendary, and the first Generation VI Pokémon revealed to have a Mega Evolution. This year, the Mischief Pokémon Hoopa was revealed. It was the first Pokémon to be Psychic and Ghost type, and had an amazing change in the form of Unbound Hoopa. This leaves only one Pokémon, Volcanion.

Volcanion, the Steam Pokémon. It's National Pokédex number is 721, it has the unique type combination of Fire and Water, it's 1.7m (5'7") tall and weighs 195.0kg (429.9lbs). It's base stats are distributed as follows; 80 HP, 110 Attack, 120 Defense, 130 Special Attack, 90 Special Defense and 70 Speed, giving it a 600 base stat total. It's ability is Water Absorb, which restores HP when hit by a Water type attack. It learns a plethora of moves, with the types ranging from Normal, Fire, Water, Ice, Ground, Fighting, Grass, Rock, Dark and Steel. It's signature move, Steam Eruption, is a special-based Water type attack with 130 base power, 95% accuracy, 5 base PP and a 30% chance to burn the target.
Now that you know all about Volcanion, what do you think about it? Will it receive Diacnie's Mega Evolution treatment, a form change like Hoopa, or have it's own new niche? Do you think Fire and Water is a good combination for battling? Is it a good Pokémon for competitive battling? These are some questions to think about when discussing Volcanion, but feel free to come up with some of your own!

The mega-scald is powerful enough, let alone if he were to get a mega evolution or form change. I'm hoping not, although diancie and hoopa both had powerful signature moves and still had form changes. I love the type combo though, and steam makes a lot of sense. I'm glad he's not overly bulky or overly speedy... but he's easily bulky enough to take a hit and hit back with super powerful water move (which is resisted by only 3 types) and the 30% burn.

Volcanion deserves something new, Diancie got a Mega-Evolution, Hoopa got the new form, it's only fair that Volcanion gets some special form. The typing is quite nice, it's quite variable since rock and ground beat fire but water beats rock and ground, the same with grass beating water but fire beating grass. He is quite a tough looking Pokémon but just because he's a legendary I don't want him to be overloaded with cool things because it doesn't feel or look right, I think that Diancie and Hoopa could have been ruined in the development stage. I feel like Volcanion will release something really cool as well as itself becuase it's the last kalos legend as far as we know. It is pretty obvious that Volcanion will be released sometime next year, hopefully, at that time, Pokémon will have thought of some cool extra for Volcanion.

Looking at it's stats, it'll probably be as useful, if not more useful, as its legendary "siblings". And that's pretty useful :P

Volcanion is by far my favourite of the three Kalos Mythical Pokémon! I love its design and its typing. I hope for a change of Forme, because I like those better in general.
(I still find it funny that pretty much all Pokémon fans knew about Hoopa, Diancie and Volcanion long before they were released XD)

Wow, a water/fire type, huh. I was wondering if they'd make a Pokémon like that but I assumed it wouldn't be good in battle, but the Water Absorb ability looks really promising. It's design isn't fantastic but still looks like a great Pokémon to battle with.

A Water/Fire type huh? When I first saw this I was like "Sign me up!" and i'm still like this.

Excellent counter to Ferrothorn, Skarmory, Metagross, Heatran, etc. I think this will be an awesome Pokémon, perhaps I won't have to use Mega Houndoom anymore. (Houndoom isn't bad, but it's the only real fire type I use, ever...)
