What's happening fellow Valorians? Brav is back with another one of the Weekly Prompts courtesy of the always fantastic @WavePearl

This week: Pack your bags--you're going to camp (or on vacation) for the summer...and the Pokémon want to come too!

I haven't done one based on the anime yet and this particular one is sort of Anime AU. Back when I was younger and pretty active in Boy Scouts, I attended a two week long summer camp that drew boys from scouting units all across the country. We'd go on adventure programs, earn merit badges, hang out with friends...it was always very enjoyable to go on with the exception of the heat...ugh in mid to late July...the heat was just plain awful!

So I initially made a story out of this; but I figured a letter/advert would be a more unorthodox approach. There is a second part that I still decided to write and if I get some feedback and interest, I'll definitely put it up. I think you guys will love it too. :)

Thanks for reading and please leave a comment below. Y'all give my writing purpose.

    Chapter Index

    Alola friends and ohana!

It's that time of the year again for yours truly Professor Kukui to host his youth Pokémon junior trainer summer camp! As always; this is a two week long session on Akala Island where kids ages 8-11 will experience the natural beauty of Alola and its nature while continuing to bond their incredible relationship with their Pokémon!
I managed to pull a few strings for this year and added a couple new ventures we will go on.
The planned dates are June 3-20.
    Youth attending will experience:

    • A deep potential to spend quality with their Pokémon bonding as partners and friends through exercises and hands-on lessons.
    • Snorkeling and fishing trips to Brooklet Hill.
    • Full lessons that will teach the basic fundamentals of Pokémon battling through friendly competitions with prizes to be won.
    • Wilderness Survival techniques at the Lush Jungle.
    • Golf lessons at the Hano Grand Resort with world famous golfer and island challenge champion Kahili Driver.
    • A battle royale at the Dome with a special appearance with the one and only Masked Royal!!
    • Professor Kukui will conclude the camp demonstrating a mock Totem battle with the Totem Salazzle at Wela Volcano Park to introduce the island challenge. A luau and fire dance provided by Trial Captain Kiawe Iokua to follow.
    • And so much more!
I look forward to seeing and working with each and every one who can attend, but space is limited! This camp attracts families from distant regions and spots can fill up very quickly! There is a deadline to reserve a spot for your child and it is an initial down payment that must be due by May 1!
In addition, I will require full up to date medical forms for each child attending by the first payment deadline. If this cannot be provided, your child's reservation will be relinquished to one who did not make the roster.
Your children will be constantly interacting with their own Pokémon in various activities as well as those of their peers that include battling. That being said; it is both you and your child's responsibility to ensure that each Pokémon that is brought to this camp will provide a civil and fun experience.

Pokémon are not toys or machines. Bringing an violent and dangerous creature can be the equivalent to an armed and loaded gun, with the possibility of causing severe injury to itself, other Pokémon and other children. Because of this, I heavily recommend that the amount of Pokémon accompanying your child is a minimum of one and a maximum of three and each are in their first unevolved stage so that keeping them under control is an easier task. Please ensure that each Pokémon that your child brings is obedient to them while at camp and they are readily registered to their trainer licenses. Due to the increase of allergies, each individual Pokémon must be up-to-date on their medical records which also must be provided with their registration forms.

There are many different Pokémon species on Akala Island and we will be going into places where a wide diversity of wild creatures inhabit. Children do have permission to catch wild Pokémon while on such field trips and they must be registered as soon as possible after they have been caught. The previous rules continue to apply; newly caught Pokémon may not be allowed at the campsite or at activities if it is disobedient and/or overly aggressive.

I aim to make my Youth Junior Trainer Summer Camp to be a positive learning environment for all who attend. Further in this packet, I have outlined a general set of behavior rules for each child to abide by. Any misconduct such as harassment of another child will be subject to disciplinary action and possible termination of the remainder of their stay at the camp. You will be contacted by me or one of my staff if there is such an incident to report. This is partly an educational venture and your child should follow the same rules here as they do at their primary education facility.

We will have a visitor's day halfway through the camp session this year on June 11 starting at 9am. Your child will have the opportunity to demonstrate what he/she has learned over the first week as well as arrange similar activities such as fishing and scuba diving at Brooklet Hill. Parents/Guardians are allowed (not required) to stay overnight and through the morning of June 12, which we will resume our scheduled trips and lessons. Please inform me by June 10 if you wish to stay the night so that I can make additional food and lodging arrangements.

After making the first initial down payment for the camp; I will be sending out more packets and eventually hold a meeting to continue providing additional information as well as release a detailed itinerary of what we have in store for your children!
If anyone has questions or concerns regarding this camp; please contact me by any one of the means below.

I sincerely look forward to enriching your child's experience with Pokémon and the immersive culture of our very own Alola region!

    Professor E. Kukui

This looks really interesting--and an idea for a spinoff of Island Sun (basically what would happen if Serena was able to join the classic Trio in my remixed Alola)

I actually have Kiawe's full name as Kiawe Iokua (as well as Lana's and Mallow's full names--Lana Haukea and Mallow Lokelani, respectively)

I honestly couldn't find a good last name for Kiawe. Iokua sounds fitting as does the latter two. I just put Kaki since I'm dead tired right now and wanted to get this out before I go to bed.
I may ask to use them in the future if I input Kiawe or the others.

Thank you for the feedback and remember to let me know if you would like to see the second part I have written :D

I really would--and why stop at just two parts? I would want to see the entire session.

Okay so @WavePearl, here is part 2 of the summer camp mini-story! You've convinced me to write additional chapters to this since I had an absolute blast writing the previous one. Fret not! I do have a prompt for this week's topic as well, which is also set in Alola...I write too much about that region...but hey, it's my favorite one and gonna be tough to beat. I just love Hawaii in real life! :D

Thanks for reading and please leave a comment below. Y'all give my writing purpose. :D

The door to the tidy looking room was gently pushed open as a woman in her late twenties strode in. She crossed over to the prone sleeping form on the comfy bed in the center and nudged her shoulder.
"Ugh," The little girl groaned in protest, clearly not wanting to be woken up just yet.
"Wake up Selene," Her mother egged, "You're heading out for Professor Kukui's summer camp today."
Young Selene's eyes shot open at the realization, "WHAT? It's today?!" Her outburst had awoken a pair of Pokémon sleeping in small bed cushions beside her own. The brown owl rowlet let out a contagious yawn and rubbed his eyes with his feathers while a brown puppy rockruff shook itself awake.
"Yep," Mother placed a light kiss on the girl's cheek, "Get dressed and make sure everything's packed. We have to catch the Heahea Ferry at Hau'oli in a couple of hours. Make sure Rowlet and Rockruff are ready too!"
"YES!" Selene suddenly exploded out of the bed, pumping her fist in excitement, "Today's the day! SUMMER CAMP!"
Her mother chuckled at the display of enthusiasm, "I'm sure you're going to have a grand time! You'll be making a lot of friends and learning all there is about Pokémon!"
"I can't wait!" She jumped up and down, "Wait...where's dad?"
"He's making breakfast. It's a big send off for you and your brother. You sure you're still up for staying away from home for two weeks?"
"Yeah!" Selene's steely gray eyes lit up with newfound joy, "Me and Elio are going to have so much fun out there with our Pokémon!"
"You bet!" Her mother just realized something, "Speaking of your brother, I better go wake him up. Go on into the kitchen. I'm sure your father has breakfast waiting!"
"Okay!" As her mother left the room to go next door; Selene quickly changed into her favorite outfit, a yellow dyed blouse with green shorts. She was eight years old, with shoulder length locks of dark hair and dark eyes. Her face was always breaking out in a smile to compliment her spontaneous personality, which was just as contagious.
    "Come on Rowlet and Rockruff!"
Her grass owl hooted in response, fluttering by her side while the little puppy let out a yip of excitement, bounding right after its partner.

Selene's father was slaving over their kitchen in their Alolan home when she walked into the dining area. As always, his trusty partner Pikachu was on the counter, passing him several ingredients as he split his attention between a griddle full of pancakes and hash brown potatoes and scrambling eggs. The dining table just behind the barstools in the center of the kitchen was already set with a jug of milk and eating utensils neatly laid out.
    "Good morning Dad!"
"Well good morning to you too sweetheart!" He used his free arm to bring her in for an affectionate hug, "Are you ready to go to summer camp for the first time?"
"YEAH!" She made a fist, "We're gonna learn so much about Pokémon and make so many new friends!"
"I like the sound of that," Her father agreed, with Pikachu also adding its own input with a happy "Pika!" The electric type jumped down from the counter and ran over to Selene, happily nuzzling her leg.
"Good morning Pikachu!" She giggled and ran a hand through his fur, "I'm going to miss you too."
"Pika," At the same time, Rowlet and Rockruff moved forward to greet their friend.
"Selene," Her father started, "I've told you this before, but watch after your brother. You are the older sister after all!"
"I know. He's my twin though so I'm only older by nine minutes."
"Still. I've told him the same thing. You two look out for each other. Professor Kukui is going to do all he can to make this a safe and fun experience, but it's also up to you to recognize the signs of danger. You've also got your Pokémon to protect you."
"We will look out for everyone. Not just us."
Her father smiled, "Good job. Now hurry up and eat! We don't have much time left!"
At that moment, Selene's younger brother by nine minutes decided to make his appearance.
Where she was exuberant, outgoing and always with a smile; Elio was much more reserved. Not to say that he never tried to make friends or smile, but he seldom displayed much extremes of emotion. He was virtually a split image of Selene, with a similar facial structure with gray eyes and long dark hair that was quite messy in a bedhead. His outfit was a pair of black and red shorts that was coupled with a striped blue and white T-shirt. Next to him were two Pokémon of his own; a black and red Litten and tiny woodpecker bird known as Pikipek.
Today, he was unusually quiet, but constantly rubbing his eyes and having a yawn escape his lips.
"Good morning Elio," His father greeted, sliding another buttered pancake onto a plate and putting it down in front as the young boy took his seat, "You look tired."
"Yeah," The boy sheepishly, "Couldn't sleep."
    "Too excited?" Father asked.
"Nope," This came from their mother, who strode into the kitchen, holding a familiar blue gaming device, "Someone was up playing after his bedtime,"
Father turned to Elio, who looked away in shame. "That true?"
He got a nervous nod in response.
    "You know the rules son."
"I know!" The boy cried out, "But Hau wanted to trade before we leave for summer camp and he couldn't get online until late at night! Come on! I won't be able to play it until I get back! I'm sorry Dad!"
The father sighed, accepting the 3DS, "Well, then your week long confiscation will start once you come back from camp."
"Wha-?" Elio gasped, "No! Please dad! Don't!"
"I would stop before he makes it two weeks," Mother said, "School may be over, but the screen rules still apply until summer camp is done."
The boy saw that any further protests weren't going anywhere and as much as he hated arguing with his parents, he loved playing on the 3DS with his sister and their childhood friend Hau. Selene however, was more disciplined of the two when it came to playing, even though she was still around the same in progress of the new game's story mode.
He let out an annoyed huff and started eating.
"Now that that's settled," Father turned to Mother, "Good morning to you love."
"Right back at you," She slipped herself into his arms and they shared a tender, loving kiss.
"Eww," Both Elio and Selene quietly whispered, a bit offput by their parents' constant displays of affection.
"Watch the pancake," Their mother whispered, still in the embrace, "You're going to burn it."
"That's not going to happen again," He said, putting his lips on her forehead, "I promise you."
She playfully bumped his broad shoulder with her fist and returned to the table.

A half hour later with the family of four deep in an engaging conversation while sating themselves over the man's delicious breakfast, it was time to pack up their trunks full of gear and head out to the Hau'oli Marina.
Professor Kukui would meet the family there, since they were going to be the first ones to arrive at the gathering place on Akala Island. Once they were all fed lunch and given a brief syllabus on what was going to happen.
Although the day was pleasant, with the morning sun shining without a single cloud in the sky, they opted to take the family car down the streets and onto the ramp of the Alaloa Highway that circled the island. Other traffic began to steadily increase as they neared Hau'oli City, but they would eventually take another road that went through the downtown section towards the coastline.
Neither Elio nor Selene went downtown much, but they always stared up at the enormous reflective skyscrapers that seemed to touch the sky and go up even higher. It was another typical day on Melemele, as the sidewalks were crowded with pedestrians going to and from places such as work, eating at a restaurant or going to shop. There were even many out with the ovoid surfboards, eager to catch today's waves.

"Hey there cousins!" Professor Kukui greeted as they pulled into a parking space right next to the big docks. Several boats of all sizes were anchored nearby at the docks from the small speedboats, the large ferry coming in to the enormous tanker that was further down the harbor being tended to by a pair of big cranes.
"Hey Professor!" The mother and father greeted happily, coming out to shake the older man's hand. "They're all packed and ready to go!"
    "PROFESSOR KUKUI!"
He chuckled at the twins who ran right up to his legs and threw their arms around them, hugging tightly. Their respective Pokémon also bounded up and let out quiet cries of affection as they watched their trainers embrace a man they considered an uncle.
"Hey there Elio and Selene. You guys ready to go to summer camp?"
    "YEAH!"
"All right!" Kukui broke out another one of his signature grins, "The ferry is going to leave soon, so why don't you say goodbye to your Mom and Dad while I get your gear onboard yeah?"
The two siblings quickly agreed and ran over to their mother and father, who crouched down to their eye level.
"Be safe out there and have fun," Mom said, hugging them both with an arm. She felt something drip on her shoulder and pulled back to see both of them trying to rub away a fresh set of tears that decided to make their debut.
    "What's wrong?"
"We're gonna miss you!" Selene cried, "We'll be gone for two weeks!"
"We'll be all alone!" Elio added.
"What?" Mother asked, using a hand to gently brush her blonde hair out of the way, "It's only for two weeks and you'll have plenty of friends of your own to make there. There's already Hau."
The twins' crying stopped immediately at the mention of their best friend, "Hau's there?"
"Yeah and not just him, but plenty other boys and girls that are your age who are also crying to their parents thinking that they are all alone going to this camp. So go and be that friend to them and make them not feel so out of place! You'll also have your Pokémon with you, so there's nothing to fear about being alone!"
"What about you?" Elio sniffled, "Won't you come and visit?"
"Of course we will when it's visitor's day! I want to learn about all the things that Professor Kukui is teaching you!"
"Okay, I promise we will do our best! We promise to write a lot of letters to you too!"
"That's all we ask from you," Their mother planted a gentle kiss on each of their foreheads, "Say bye to Daddy now!"
"We will!" Selene said, "Love you Mom!"

Their father gestured for his two children to stand next to him as he put a hand on their backs.
"Elio," His gaze wandered over to his sister, "Selene...you two be on your best behavior while you're out there. You hear?"
    They nodded in unison.
"So watch out for each other. Encourage each other and always look to improve yourself and your Pokémon while you are out there. Soon enough, it'll be time to come back home before you know it."
"We will Dad," Selene hugged and kissed him on the cheek, "Love you."
"I love you too sweetheart." He gently eased her back towards the docks, where she eagerly ran out, up onto the gangplank next to Professor Kukui.
"Elio," His father began, "Before you go," He pulled out a similar sleek 3DS. The boy's eyes widened in surprise.
    "You're...you're giving it back?"
"No. I'm not." His face fell, "But I know how much you love to play Sun and Moon on here with your sister and Hau, so I want you to make a promise. Go out there and make the best of this experience. Learn from your Pokémon and have them learn from you. Make some friends. You show me that you had an amazing time at Professor Kukui's summer camp and maybe...just maybe, you'll find your 3DS on your nightstand when you come back home."
Elio nodded nervously, "Okay Dad." He paused for a moment, "I'm sorry that I stayed up past my bedtime to play."
"It's alright. Now get on board that ferry. You don't want to lose your sister."
The boy nodded, feeling a fresh wave of tears pool in his eyes as he threw his arms around his father, "Bye Dad. I love you so much."
"I love you too. Keep an eye on your sister and we'll see you on visitor's day."
He broke the embrace and bounded up to the stern of the ship, taking place right next to Selene as the vessel finally cast off and began to move away from the harbor.

The twins waved frantically with Professor Kukui with their parents waving back, staying by the water until the ship disappeared over the horizon, bound for Akala Island.
"They'll be alright," His wife murmured, "I'm going to miss them. What about you Ash?"
"The house will be awfully quiet with both gone. Good for some alone time, right Serena?" Ash Ketchum pulled her close again and sighed, "You think I was too hard on Elio with his DS?"
She shook her head, "He knew the rules and got caught. Although I do have to admit that it was very sweet on the promise you made him. He didn't seem to be looking forward to this summer camp trip."
"I recall you not enjoying it either," Ash chuckled, "Pretty sure I'm the one that made it all the more memorable."
"Yeah," Serena's finger brushed a familiar blue ribbon on her shirt, "You really did Ash."
He kissed her temple again, "Have I told you today that I love you?"
    "Yes."
"Well I'm going to reiterate that. And I'm going to thank you again for being an amazing wife and giving two amazing kids that call us Mommy and Daddy."
Serena narrowed her eyes and smirked at him, "Are you trying to make up for almost burning the pancakes?"
"What?" He feigned surprise, "No! Geez Serena, I try to be a genuine lovey husband and you automatically sense that I have some ulterior motive?"
    "Call it a woman's intuition."
"Funny," Their gazes went back out to the sea. The ferry bound for Akala Island was long gone, bringing both of their two kids on a new adventure with their Pokémon. "How much fun you'll think they'll have?"
"Considering how Professor Kukui likes to run things," Serena chuckled, "I bet they won't even want to leave by the time it's all over."

Okay...Sun and Moon hero and heroine as Ash and Serena's kids is an interesting idea, but I'm interested in where this will go from here.

Alright...here's the next part to this Summer Camp awesomeness. Big thanks to @WavePearl for the feedback and continued interest in this.

I'm glad you think it's an interesting idea to make the SuMo protags as their kids. I've always wanted to write Ash and Serena as a married couple and as parents. Elio and Selene look incredibly adventurous in their renders and I say they could pass as their children.
Thanks for reading and please leave a comment below. You give my writing purpose.

    Brav

The mess hall of the camp was crowded as sixty or so other kids ranging from seven to ten all sat at round wooden tables underneath a large woven canopy. The sun was beginning to set over the horizon, casting a beautiful orange in the sky. Voices of conversation were drifting around the tables as the kids were remarkably well disciplined and mannered. They talked, laughed with one another and mainly enjoyed spending time with their Pokémon.
Elio and Selene saw a wide diversity of different species. Some of them were from faraway regions such as a young boy named Ben who was from a small city in Unova called Nuvema. He had a tiny sea otter Pokémon that was called Oshawott. Others had one or two and there was a handful of kids that didn't have a Pokémon yet, but they remained optimistic on being able to catch one for the first time.

Dinner had been served. The first night there; they had a luau of sorts with world famous Alolan barbecue that included kahlua pork from an imu that Professor Kukui had cooking for virtually the entire day.
Tonight was less elaborate; settling for a chicken noodle soup with dumplings. There were many different robust flavors in Alolan cuisine and the professor had to remind himself that not everyone's tastes were the same. Most kids however were of little difference and he had many options that were taste, nutrient and budget friendly. Pokémon food was also distributed as he had made it a point yesterday to insist that the trainers eat by their own to continue bonding together.

Elio laughed as Litten and Pikipek were nibbling at the pile of feed in his hands and let out happy cries. The tiny bird fluttered up and perched himself on the boy's shoulder while the feline curled up in his lap, satiated with his meal.
Selene spooned another bite of soup and took a sip of water.
    "Isn't this just the best?"
This came from Hau Kealoha, the twins' childhood friend and the grandson of Hala; the kahuna of Melemele Island. As kids, the three were inseparable from being in the same class at the Pokémon School in Hau'oli City to the numerous playdates arranged by their parents when one couple was busy.
"You bet it is Hau!" Selene high-fived him and gave an affectionate pat to his two Pokémon; a blue Popplio and tiny Pichu.
Hau's parents had left Alola at an early age, so he was raised by his kahuna paternal grandfather Hala and his wife Ailani. There were many in their home of Iki Town who believed that as a trainer, Hau wouldn't be able to live up to the expectations of his grandfather since he was so carefree. However Hala fiercely defended him saying that the boy was only eight years old. Someone had also said that there was an occasion where Hala had been so furious that he had failed to calm down an upset young Hau who had witnessed the entire thing.
"I hope we all get to be in the same house together!" Selene said, "It's too bad we missed last years."
"There's always time for these Selene," Elio said, "Besides, you wouldn't want to miss one of Dad's tournaments for this?"

The kids' conversation was interrupted by Professor Kukui, who had walked onto the stage at the front of the outdoor mess hall and took the handheld microphone in his hand.
"Hey there kids! How was your dinner?"
    "GOOD! THANK YOU PROFESSOR KUKUI!"
"You're welcome," He laughed at the big chants and cheers that the energetic kids, "Make sure your Pokémon are full because we have a lot of lessons and exercises we're going to cover tomorrow!"
    "Yay!"
"But first, we have another order of business. Some of you already know what this is going to be, but let me introduce your Trial Captains!"
There was a round of cheers erupting from the kids.
"Trial Captains?" Selene asked, almost not believing her ears.
"The Trial Captains are here?" Elio added.
"Now as many of you know, my camp is divided into houses where around ten of you will be assigned to the same campsite and attend activities together. The Trial Captains are there to help you and ask any of them for help. They are always willing to be your big brother or sister! Now I bet you're all anxious to see whose house you're on! Starting tomorrow, you will see a table marked with the respective Trial Captain's name on there. They will be here with you for the entire camp's duration!"
Elio, Selene and Hau listened anxiously as the Trial Captains stepped forward behind Professor Kukui and began calling out the names of the many children attending.
Their faces remained smiling as the first one; Ilima didn't call out any of theirs. Secretly, each of them were hoping they would be able to go into the same house together. That would make this summer camp the best ever.
None of them were with Captain Lana...or Kiawe...or Sophocles. Each of them were in charge of about nine or ten kids.
Then it was Captain Mallow's turn. She was a young girl in her late teens with green hair and overalls with a face that broke out into a smile at every opportunity.
As she read off names; Elio felt his heart sink. They were likely to be the last ones called for the final Trial Captain's house.
"Lillie Aethe... Hau Kealoha...Selene Ketchum and Elio Ketchum."
The twins and Hau's mouths fell open, hearing their dream finally come true.
"YES!" In a spontaneous gesture, the three childhood friends jumped up for joy, hugging one another. Their Pokémon, having played around alongside their trainers were just as excited.
Mallow couldn't help but laugh at the display as everyone else let out an endearing "Aww"
Professor Kukui shook his head, "I was hoping to get that kind of reaction from them."
As the final Trial Captain Acerola stepped forward to call out the last of the kids, none of the twins nor Hau were paying attention. They had gotten their wish. As now teammates, they were certain that this was one Summer Camp session they wouldn't ever forget!

Looking good! If you need ideas, let me know!

Also, how do you plan to work in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon?

Are Misty and Brock going to get a mention (or even visit the camp)? I picture Brock as a songwriter/storyteller (maybe the one who leads the campfire singalongs?)

Alola readers again. Brav is back with yet another installment for this ministory of summer camp awesomeness! Here we're going to see the rest of Team Mallow's group, Elio, Selene, Hau, Lillie and about 3 other OCs I have planned out.
A huge thanks to @WavePearl for the feedback and her offer to give suggestions.
I didn't plan on this being a longer fic, maybe about 6-7 more little tidbits, so I don't think I would put in stuff from USUM in here. Granted we've only seen a teaser, so right now there is little to go off of. I do plan on making a story based off of it once it is released however.

Both Misty and Brock may or may not get mentioned while in summer camp. I haven't decided yet. On the other hand, I could totally picture Brock being a songwriter and storyteller walking around a huge campfire XD
Thanks for reading guys and please leave a comment or like below. You give my writing purpose.

    Brav

"And here we are!" Mallow said, gesturing to the small semicircle of six tents in the clearing. "This is Mallow's corner!"
"Woah," The kids stared in amazement at it. Aside from the small shelters, there was a large bed of flowers in the middle with picnic tables and a small pit where there was still past evidence of a fire of sorts.
"It's cool!" One of the kids piped up, "Not really fancy and not really plain!"
    "Hey!"
"I'm kidding!" The kid laughed, joined by the others, "I have a feeling that Mallow's corner is going to be the best one!"
"That's what I like to hear," She smiled, "So before we turn in for the day, how about we all say a little thing or two about ourselves. Once that's done, I'll have all the tenting arrangements taken care of and you can put all your stuff away. I'll start,"
She arranged all of them in a circle on the meadow bed and lit a few surrounding tiki torches until there was plenty of light illuminating them all. Selene made extra care to ensure that Elio and Hau were sitting next to her.
"I'll go first. My name is Mallow Lokelani, I am the one of the three Trial Captains here on Akala Island and I used to be like you as a participant in this summer camp. I'm from Konikoni City where my family runs a restaurant. My favorite hobby besides Pokémon is to cook and I hope to one day be a world famous chef who brings Alolan flavors to the world!"
"You run the trial!" The same kid from earlier asked, "That's so cool! Do we get to see the Totem Pokémon from your trial?"
Mallow shook her head, "I'm not sure. We will be going to my trial site in the Lush Jungle and there we can try to lure her out, but I can't know for sure."
    "Okay."
"Alright, now let's start with you."
"My name's Manu and I live in Hau'oli City." The boy had dark eyes and light brown hair with a slight tan, "This is my best friend Oricorio," He gestured to the yellow bird by his side who gave off an approving chirp, "I caught him at the Melemele Meadow. My favorite thing is to sit and watch bird Pokémon fly in the sky."
"That's really neat Manu," Mallow said, "You know, you could go into bird study?"
"Yeah I want to do that."

The Trial Captain gestured to the girl next to her. She was a bit smaller than everyone with auburn hair, but blue eyes instead.
"Hi," She shyly said, but had a big smile on her face, "I'm Alana and I'm from Heahea City here on Akala. My parents own a country club in the city, so they send me to private school. I have two Pokémon, Crabrawler and Cubone. I um...don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I just love Pokémon and want to be a really good battler one day."
"That's some fine initiative," Mallow said with the other kids nodding in agreement, "You don't have to have a specific goal in mind other than battling. It opens up a lot of pathways!"

"Hi everyone!" The last boy pounded his chest, "Call me Bryant! I'm from Malie City on Ula'ula Island and my dad's an awesome famous actor! He plays Lieutenant Kelly!"
"From Five-0?" Mallow exclaimed, "What?! I love that show!"
"It's the best," Bryant agreed, "He sometimes lets me on the set and I get to see what happens in the new episodes! Anyway, I only have one Pokémon, it's my own Sandshrew. My dad let me catch it while he was filming a scene by the Tapu Village!"
"Do you want to be a famous actor like your dad?" Alana asked.
"Maybe, it'd be cool. That way I can help run this kind of camp and it will get a lot more participants!"
"Can you see if he can come down during visitor's day?" Mallow asked, "I would love to meet him!"
"I don't really know," Bryant's boasting had faded and his face fell, "He's at work a lot and always kind of busy," He perked up again, "But I think he'll try!"

    "What about you?"
"My name's um...Melissa," She had reddish hair and blue eyes, "I'm from Unova. Aspertia City."
"Wow," Bryant said, "That's a long way from home."
"Yeah," Her eyes teared up, "It's long ways away. My...um Pokémon is Snivy. He's the grass type starter there."
"I know how hard it can be to leave your home for two weeks," Mallow said, putting an arm on Melissa's shoulder, "I've done it before, but look around you. These seven other kids and myself are going to be your new best friends for the next two weeks okay?"
Melissa hesitantly nodded, "Okay. It's nice to meet you all."
"Nice to meet you too Melissa!"

"Okay, my turn!" Hau was practically jumping up and down with excitement, "My name's Hau Kealoha. My gramps is Hala, the kahuna of Melemele Island. I have Popplio and Pichu with me and we all love malasadas!"
    "What's a malasada?" Melissa asked.
"WHAT?!" The boy's eyes nearly popped out of his head, "You don't know what a malasada is?"
    "I'm from Unova remember?"
"Oh sorry," He scratched the back of his head nervously as a small chuckle was shared by everyone, "Malasadas are an amazing food that have awesome fillings inside! Miss Mallow, we have to take her out to introduce them!"
    "I don't know,"
    "Oh come on! Please!"
"Yeah we can go on a malasada field trip!" Alana said, "Malasadas for everybody!"
The rest of the kids quickly joined in on the agreement and Mallow soon found herself outnumbered.
"Okay...maybe. I have to see if we will have time."
    "Hooray!"
She laughed, "Okay, moving on. Elio and Selene...wow twins."
"Yup!" Selene jumped up holding her brother's hand, "I'm Selene Ketchum and this is my brother Elio!"
"Ketchum," Manu stopped, "Wait...as in Ash Ketchum, former Champion of the Kalos League and Alola League? Are you related to him?"
"Yeah," Elio said, "He's our dad!"
    "WOAH! That's so cool!"
Even Mallow was surprised at the overwhelming response the siblings had at the mention of their father, a world famous Pokémon battler.
Selene laughed, "I guess Dad is more famous that we thought!"
Much to her surprise, Elio wasn't actually paying much attention to the others. He was fixated on the apprehensive blonde girl who had yet to introduce herself.
"Elio?" Selene asked bringing him out of his thoughts, "You okay?"
"What?" He shook his head, "Oh yeah, I'm fine. Yeah, we get to go to his battling seminars all the time and see what new strategies he comes up with. He's crazy strong!"
    "What about your Pokémon?"
"I uh...I have Litten and Pikipek. Hau's gramps got it for me and Selene and I caught Pikipek soon after. I would like to be a league champion just like my Dad!"
"I like that." Mallow said, "So last we have,"
    "I'm Lillie."
Every head in the campsite turned to the shy girl sitting just a little further out of the circle than everyone else, "I'm tired. I'll see everyone later."
She turned and began walking back down towards the tents.
"That girl is weird," Bryant whispered.
"Does she even have a Pokémon?"

"Now how about I assign bunking arrangements?" Mallow said, seeing a queue to interrupt the nasty gossip.

This is such a cool idea! I wonder what the story would look like if it was just letters from camp--like, the letters that the kids sent home to their parents, explaining their day. When do you plan on posting the next chapter? :)

TBH this actually started off just as the title says; little short story off of @WavePearl and her prompt thread.

I will probably do a letter from both twins soon though. Next chapter will go up sometime today or tomorrow.

    Thanks for the feedback

Okay, finally got some time to work on this! Here's another awesome part of the summer camp. A big thanks to @WavePearl and @Wings for the feedback! I really appreciate the comments, they make my day.

Thanks as always for reading and please leave a comment below. You give my writing purpose.

Night had settled over Alola as the campers had all retired for the day after receiving their bunking arrangements. Everyone was pretty excited that they were bunk beds and eventually it turned into a debate on who got to sleep where.
Elio and Hau weren't very argumentative and decided it on a best of three of rock-paper-Scizors. Hau won and took dibs on the bottom bunk. Elio was actually quite happy about that, since he wanted the top anyway.

Air conditioning created a nice crisp dry room through the cabins and gave it a pleasant coolness from the humid Alolan heat. All was pretty quiet save for one sound that continued to nag at Elio as he lay under the blanket in his pajamas.
It wasn't Hau's snoring. His best friend wasn't overly loud when sawing logs, especially at a sleepover, but it could be enough to cause a bit of a disturbance. Thankfully that was rare and only really prominent when he had done a lot to things and exhausted himself throughout the day, as the previous had done.

Both of their Pokémon, Litten, Pikipek, Pichu and Popplio were tucked in a corner under comfortable cushions and huddled together. He strained his eyes open, still a little uncertain if he was just hearing things.
The cabin was silent, as each of the separate double rooms were down one corridor of their new residence for the next two weeks. A lot of Alolan style decor was on the walls, giving it a very old but fashionable appearance.
The kitchenette of Mallow's team cabin looked very elaborate with many different sized skillets and saucepans on a rack and a big fridge plus pantry that was fully stocked with snack items. Since Mallow was a good cook; her team would instead of going to the mess halls on some occasions, make their own meal arrangements whether it was her showing off her culinary skills or a group participation with an imu.

The sound came again from the main living room, now much more audible and clear.
Elio dropped down the ladder, careful not to disturb anyone else sleeping. His sister was in the next room over with that mysterious Lillie as her bunkmate. Peering inside, he didn't see his sister; only her Rowlet and Rockruff in the corner. Lillie didn't seem to have any Pokémon of her own.

He rounded the corner into the main living room and had his mouth open in shock.

Selene was sitting on the end of the big sofa opposite the TV and gaming systems. She was hugging her knees against her chest, trying to keep a new wave of sniffles quiet. Tears were pouring out of her eyes.
Elio stepped forward, completely fazed that there was something that seriously upset his sister. Everyone knew that her heart was just as big as Hau's and like him, she was unafraid to let everyone else know it.
He was also known to get very angry at anyone who sought to ruin her enjoyment or any others of his friends.
"Selene?" He whispered, edging closer to her.
Her head turned just a slight bit and she stopped, now even more worried that Elio saw the whole episode.
"El...Elio. Please just leave me alone."
"I'm not leaving you alone," He silently moved over and sat next to her, "What's wrong?"
She sniffled again, "I can't tell you."
"What?" He wasn't backing down, "Selene, you're my sister. Nobody knows you better than me. And right now, I can tell that something is on your mind...something that's been nagging at you since we left for camp. What is it?"
Selene sighed, "Mom...D-dad, I miss them!"
Elio was baffled, "Selene, we haven't even been here for a full day. There's been times where Uncle Brock, Uncle Clemont and Auntie Misty come over to babysit for longer than two weeks while Mom and dad are away for battles or showcases! This isn't any different."
"Yes it is. I miss how like we would still be able to talk even when they're in Sinnoh or Kalos. We won't even hear from them for a whole week!"
"It's okay Selene. Don't worry. Mom and Dad probably miss us just as much." Elio didn't realize it at first, but it was clear that the homesickness was clearly affecting his sister more than it was on him. It wasn't a bad thing at all; she was very attached to her parents and adored them both in all the accomplishments that they had done.
"I just wish we could hear what goes on in the house while we are away."
"Me too. But look," Elio brought her in for a gentle hug, "We're here to have new experiences with Hau and a whole bunch of new friends. Captain Mallow, Manu, Bryant, Melissa, Alana, Lillie and even some of the other houses too! We also have our Pokémon and they will always be our friends! This summer camp will be awesome and we'll be having so much fun, before you know it, the time will come to go back home."
To add on to his soothing, Selene's tears had dried up and he reached onto the coffee table to grab a pair of tissues, gently wiping away at her puffy eyes. "O-okay."
"Besides, think of all the things we can do without them watching!"
"Like eat a bunch of ice cream?"
Elio smiled, knowing that she would easily overindulge in their favorite dessert, "Well I would still limit it since you'd get a stomachache if you eat too much, but we can have more than what they will allow."
    "Yeah. I like that."
"Good. So c'mon," He gestured back to the bunks, "How about we get some sleep? We've got a busy day tomorrow."
"Yeah," She moved back to her room, "Oh Elio?"
    "Yeah?"
"Thank you. Sometimes I wish that you were the older brother because you do have a really good way of putting me at ease."
"S'nothing," He wrapped his arms gently around his sister, "And I'm only younger than you by nine minutes, so we're close enough to say the same."

Alola readers, Brav has another installment of the ongoing summer camp fic. This one's short and sweet.
A bit of a heads up this time; I'll be splitting my fanfic writing efforts on here with the recently published A Hui Hou Kakou, K'ou Alola for weekly updates. Please do go and check it out and tell me what you think. I really value the feedback and comments.

Another shoutout to the awesome @WavePearl and @Wings for their reviews and comments. You folks are awesome and give my writing purpose!

The afternoon Alolan sun shined down on Akala Island as Mallow, clad in her day gear led the line of eight curious campers down a narrow pathway that twisted through thick underbrush. Some sunlight was filtering through the dense foliage, creating clearings.

The group kept a steady pace leading to their uncertain destination. Some smaller Pokémon nearby quickly scurried away, unseen and not wanting to be disturbed by the humans' presence.

Selene's breathing became a bit more labored as they took another climb. They had been hiking for almost twenty minutes away from the camp and through all the hills and slopes, it felt like they had been going twice the distance while actually taking a winding path that seemed to lead to nowhere but the densest parts of the wilderness.
"You okay?" A boy's voice came from behind her.
She turned around to see a concerned Bryant just behind her, his Sandshrew perched atop his back. They were close to the last part of the group as they had quickly began to widen their intervals as some of the kids were more used to the rugged terrain.
Selene felt as if she was running up and down the stairs twenty times nonstop.
"Yeah," She huffed, bending over and put her hands on her knees, "I'm okay."
"You're sweating a lot. Are you hot?"
    "Yeah kind of."
"Okay," He looked up at his Pokémon, "Hey Sandshrew, go and climb on Selene's back."
"Sand!" The tiny creature slowly hopped off his trainer's back and the girl slowly knelt down, allowing it up. Instantly, she felt an icy coolness flow through her body as the Alolan form conducted a wide and welcoming contrast.
    "Thanks!"
"You're welcome," Bryant said, "He does get tired after some time though since it does make him use a lot of his energy. If you get too cold, just let me know and I'll take him back."
    "Ruff!"
    "Rowlet!"
"Hi guys," Selene greeted her Pokémon as they came to a stop at their feet, "Sorry, I've made a new friend now."
"Let. Rowlet." Her Rowlet looked down in sadness as Rockruff glanced up at the two humans, confused.
"I'm kidding!" She reached out and gave both her Pokémon a huge hug, "You know you'll always be my best friends besides Elio!"
"Ruff!" Rockruff yipped, running ahead again.
"Come on," Bryant said, offering his hand to her, "We better get going before anyone loses track of us."

It was another five minutes when they had caught up with the rest of the group who were in the center of a huge clearing with enormous discs at the end.
"Hey!" Mallow waved, "Over here! Are you guys alright?"
"Yeah," Selene gently set Sandshew down so that he could walk back to his trainer, "Thanks Bryant."
    "You're welcome."

Alolan Sandshrew are so cute! All of these chapters are really enjoyable to read because they're so light-hearted and relaxing and told from younger kids' point of view. Keep up the great work!

Alola readers. Here's the next segment of the awesome Professor Kukui's summer camp. A heads up that I'm going to Cancun next week, so I will not be posting another update for this or AHHK on here until mid-July. There's only a handful of chapters that I have in mind left for this story though. I will be bringing my laptop though, so plenty of time to work on that stuff! First time into Mexico, very excited.
Big thanks once again to @Wings and @WavePearl for the feedback. You ladies are awesome!

Selene had finally caught up with Bryant and the rest of the group as they approached the massive clearing that Mallow was awaiting all of them at.

    "All right, we're here!"
    "Where are we?" Elio asked.
"This," Mallow put her hand out to the long flat field, "This is the domain of the marksman of Akala Island! Where he comes to practice his unmatched skills!"
    "You mean the tapu?"
"No silly," Mallow giggled, "Tapu Lele is no sharpshooter! At least not to the skill of him here."
"I don't see him," Manu said, "Where is he?"
"Well first we have to set up our archery range. Maybe that will convince him to come out and play!"
"Okay!" The kids cheered, "What do we do?"
"First we need to get the targets set up and find the bows. They're hidden around the trees here and once we do that, it might tell it that we're ready to go!"
Several of the kids gathered together upon hearing this and remained deep in conversation.

"We should go look for it together," Melissa said after they conversed for a minute or two, "That way we can all stick together and thoroughly cover the same ground."
Mallow nodded, smiling at the suggestion, "I think that's a good idea. You guys know how to do a plow line?"
    They all shook their heads.
"It's simple! You all stand at an arm's length from one another and slowly move across the ground. This way you can pay close attention to what's in front of you. I'll start out."
"Can we bring out our Pokémon to help?" Selene asked, "I have a Rockruff that is really good at finding things. He even found my lost DS once!"
    "Of course,"
"Hooray!" Selene took out a Poké Ball, "Rockruff come on out! You too Rowlet!"
Rockruff yipped happily at being released from his ball while her grass owl hooted.
"Can you help me look for the bows?"
    "Rowlet!"

Mallow quickly gathered the kids beside the treeline so that they stood somewhat apart from one another. Elio made sure to be next to his sister and Hau.
"Okay, so I'm going to start moving forward and everyone else go directly ahead. Watch your step and don't go any faster than me."
Mallow took a tentative step and crouched down, slowly inching forward while taking a careful look.
Selene copied her captain's actions with the others behind her doing the same.
They moved through the field at a slow, but steady pace. Soon enough, they heard Alana exclaim something.
"I found one! I found a bow!" She proudly held up a big dark box with Cubone and Crabrawler jumping up in joy.
    "Woah! Awesome!"
    "We gotta keep searching."
Come a few minutes later and soon enough, Bryant, Manu, Hau and Elio had found one. Mallow had them set up a few targets downrange. Then Lillie had found a bow and right after her, Melissa did. The only one who didn't get one was Selene.
She felt frustrated, no matter how hard she looked around with Rockruff and Rowlet, one just didn't seem to appear.
    "Eye!"
The sharp screech stopped her in her tracks as a bit of fear crept up her body.
    "Who's there?"
"Eye!" Something flew out of the treetops and struck the ground right in front of her.
"Gah!" Selene jumped, but curiosity got the better of her. She crept up for a better look.
It was an arrow that struck the soft ground, protruding out just a little.
What around it was what caught the girl's attention.
It was a bow, ornately carved and wide.
The handle looked as if it was perfectly made for her grip.
Selene looked into the trees to see a shadowy figure perched on one of the branches. She couldn't see its eyes, but it was clear that it was observing her with the utmost interest.

Mallow was in the middle of instructing everyone on the safety of their archery activity when she noticed Selene running up to them with a very unique looking bow in hand.
"Sorry," She huffed, out of breath, "I'm so late! I found my bow though!"
"No worries." Mallow said, finally seeing the full detail on how finely crafted her find was, "Oh wow! Maybe you met the marksman of Akala! That's certainly a very special bow Selene. Do take good care of it!"
"Really?" Her eyes glowed with excitement, "That's so cool!"
"So who wants to go first?"
"I think Selene should," Elio said, "It took her the longest to find her bow." Behind him, the others murmured their agreement.
"Okay Selene," Mallow went up to her, "Now use your writing hand to hold an arrow in place," She grabbed one from the large box that they had brought with them, "Your other hand will aim and be sure to keep the tension tight or else it won't end up going the way you want. Now be sure you are authorized to fire," Mallow's voice turned a little stern, "There has been more than one accident on this activity and it was because not everybody paid attention and followed the rules. I've explained it all, so does anyone have any questions before we get started?"
