My wish is yo kai watch its a small franchise but a good one at it i love the battle mechanics a lot of people "OH LOOK ITS A Pokémon RIPOFF" firstly its just simply NOT of course it shares some aspects with Pokémon but they are vastly different in concepts im not gonna spoil the story or games i am a huge fan of the games i love everything they do it even has its own series with 3 seasons oh there's also 2 movies i think one on Netflix and another on YouTube dubbed well that concludes my little rant have a good day
ha..all the games I knew of as obscure has gotten popular since then, namely Psychonauts, Monster Hunter, and (although it had gotten much more popular by the time I heard of it) Mother. I can't think of any that are considered obscure at this point in time though.
I love me some indie, obscure games so this thread is my jam. - Spiritfarer (Most of the consoles): Everyone with a pulse should play this game. You will laugh, you will cry and you will probably cry some more but happy tears that time. Its really charming and teaches people a whole lot about themselves and empathy towards others. - Styx Master of Shadows (Windows, Xbox One and PS4) and its sequel are excellent stealth games with great stories and really fun mechanics if a bit repetitive for the first game (the levels can be pretty long). Does make you feel like a master assassin once you have it down though. - The Red Strings Club (PC, Switch): Gorgeous art design and interesting story. End puzzles are a bit hit and miss but its a great if a bit short game. - Katana Zero (PC, Xbox One, Switch): For the soundtrack alone, play this game. Really fun action almost puzzler? You have to find the most efficient way to go through a stage and kill everyone in it. Has that hotline miami vibe with the fast restarts and addictive, violent gameplay which I greatly enjoy And many others honestly but ill have to dig around for the rest.
Oh man here it goes. Ever Oasis on 3DS. Several overlooked title that was lost in the wave of Breath of the Wild hype as it was shown off inbetween BotW's segments at E3 2016. Sin & Punishment: The N64 original and its Wiiquel Star Successor are both excellent games that are more often than not ignored, and in an era where people go wild for hard has heck games because of Soulsborne, a 3d Run and Gun with intense gameplay, creative bosses and exciting music like these two are criminally underappreciated. Mega Man X8: After coming off of the Dreadful X6 and X7 I dont blame people for skipping it, but the final part of the X series is more than worth trying out, especially now that its more readily available thanks to the X Legacy Collection on most modern consoles. Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure: There are so few people that played this early 3DS rhythm game, shame as its one of the best in a long time. But thats just the norm for a Sega IP released to basically no fanfare due to not being named Sonic the Hedgehog or Yakuza.
This is the most obscure game I've played, and I don't know how obscure this is, but The Legendary Starfy. I think people might know Starfy because he was an assist trophy in Smash, but outside of that, I don't think the game gets talked about too much. (Outside of Japan, that is... I think they have sequel games? I honestly have no idea) But it's a cute little platformer that I loved playing when I was younger. Actually I thought of another one, but it's a mobile game. Pretty much the only mobile games I play now are rhythm games, and one I like that doesn't get talked about too much is called Phigros. It's not completely unheard of, but there are definitely other more popular mobile rhythm games that come to mind before Phigros. I did a review of it probably a year ago and I'd say go check it out, but it's definitely outdated and likely poorly written. The main gimmick of this game is the judgement lines (where you're supposed to hit the notes) move around, spin, disappear, and go crazy. It's a lot of fun and surprisingly it's completely free. There are absolutely no micro-transactions.
The to big ones on my list are Endless Sky and amazing f2p game on steam that is a modiable and so much fun. Though there is a fair bit of reading involved with it and the controls can take some getting use to. The next game (wich I think is picking up some steam ah get it ) which you cant get on steam and I think the switch now Is Monster Sanctuary wich to me is one the best indie monster catching games out there. Not only that it is kind of of monster catching meats plat former and I usually hate those but this game makes it fun. Also I lied there is one more game on steam that is fun and I believe deserves more players. That game is Disc Creatures. It is another indie monster catching game with the graphics being some thing of a throwback to the original Pokémon games. But it also introduces some interesting mechanics and is very much worth playing. Anyway that is what I have for now I may add some more to this thread later.
Anything by Analgesic Productions. They’re a two person team that specialize in surreal story based games. I recommend literally every game they’ve made. Anodyne 1 and 2 are Zelda style games, Even the Ocean is a 2D platformer, and All Our Asias is a walking simulator. Despite the wildly different genres, all of their games have a surreal style of storytelling that I love. Mibibli’s Quest is a 2D platformer for the PC in the vain of Mega Man. You play as a pink creature and navigate increasingly surreal levels to stop a blonde crocodile. The soundtrack has some of the best chip tunes I’ve ever heard. If there was a pause menu or controller support I’d recommend it to anyone.
