This topic has come up a couple of times before over the years, but I think now especially it's important to have something to look forward to. So! What announced games, whether they have a release date or not, are you looking forward to playing in the near future? Will you be buying these games on the day of release, or waiting a while to see what people say/for a price drop/for whatever reason? Bonus for the future: Was the game everything that you expected it to be?
Due to me only being able to play Nintendo stuff for the time being, I have absolutely nothing to look forward to at the moment. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is awesome but it's not really high on my priority list because one, I have no way to get it easily due to lacking a source of income and two, I don't know if I want to commit to it so much. Paper Mario: The Origami King seems cool and I'll probably get that as soon as I can because it will definitely not be as much of a commitment as Xenoblade would be and I have no backlog. I would bring up the other stuff Nintendo has coming out soon but oh wait they don't have any other stuff. But going into stuff that doesn't have a release date yet, Breath of the Wild 2, Metroid Prime 4, and Deltarune Chapter 2 are all on my radar.
Digimon Survive is a big one for me. I'm generally not that big of a Tactical RPG fan, but I've still been impatiently waiting for this game practically since it was announced. I'm just glad that it apparently isn't being delayed by the Coronavirus stuff going on, meaning that it should be out sometime this year. Speaking of Digimon stuff being delayed by the coronavirus, I'm also looking forward to Digimon Adventure: (yes, the colon is a part of the title despite not having a subtitle) resuming from the current hiatus. The first three episodes have left me intrigued with what they're going to do with this reboot and episode three was basically the perfect cliffhanger to leave the show hanging on.
The biggest one for me is Hollow Knight: Silksong. It doesn't have a release date yet, but if it's anything like the first one it'll be worth the wait, I'm sure. Other than that, there's not much. I am interested in the BOTW sequel, but there really isn't much info available on that one.
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition comes out in less than two weeks! This is one of my most anticipated games of the year. Since it has been nearly four years since my first adventure across the Bionis and Mechonis, I'm hoping for another memorable experience. Bravely Default II seems rather cool. The demo was a bit boring, but I'm sure the final product will be just fine. Ghost of Tsushima looks downright amazing. Not only is it really pretty, the gameplay looks fun and nuanced. Might be a gift from me to myself at the end of my college semester. It isnt a full game, but I am looking forward to future releases of the Smash Bros DLC. And lastly, it would be cool to have the Breath of the Wild sequel, although I doubt that's coming this year.
I have to wait for the switch restock before I can even think about getting the game, but best friend forever seems like a cute game to play
Guilty Gear Strive, fullstop. The game is the most fluid and dynamic looking fighting game ever conceived, and just screams excitement from its appearance and visual design alone, alongside its explosive soundtrack. Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4, despite both being currently vaporware, I am very much looking forward to seeing. Platinum has proven that Bayonettas faults could be improved with 2, and 3 can polish the series even further. Prime 4 while I felt was a little strange to see is nice to have Retro back home with what they know to prove that they still are capable devs. Breath of the Wild's Sequel. They've got the world, they've got the gameplay, now lets see how they can build the atmosphere and mood from this. Paper Mario: The Origami King: Intriguing setup, and Im digging the unsettling, almost cult-like villain group. Pokémon Snap 2. So far its the 2nd most interesting thing from Gen VIII, outside of Mystery Dungeon DX
I'm waiting for the Breath of the wild sequel. I really want to see where they go with the formula and I'm interested in seeing/traveling through more ruins, something the original had very few of outside hyrule castle. I hope they stay with the same concept of open world, but I don't know what they will do to make the current world fresh if the do reuse the world. This though, is the only one I'm looking forward to. I don't play games like I used to and I tend not to get to excited about releases so this is the only one I played, enjoyed and heard about its sequel.
After hearing so many good things about the original Nier, I’m very eager to try the remaster that’s set to release next Spring. I hope it’s as fun as its sequel. Speaking of remasters, Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne HD is looking promising. With how cheap original copies of the game are, I hope there’s enough added to make this version the better option. Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town and Rune Factory 5 are probably my most anticipated releases of the year. I just can’t have enough farming simulators.
Monster Hunter Rise and Stories 2: The fact Stories got a sequel intrigues me, and I am always up for more Monster Hunter. Bravely Default II: Bravely Second is one of the best 3DS games and improved on Bravely Defaults flaws, so I hope this title delivers even more so.
I... don't play a lot of recent games, usually just... watch-through... but Minecraft 1.18! I'm excited to see the new cave generation and be terrified just trying to pick a nice place under a rock to live in.
I hired an amateur photographer to take my picture in Shibuya a few days ago and I am looking forward to seeing the finished pictures. Maybe I ca use them to get a date haha
