Everyone usually does something special over the summer and I since I usually spend my time doing housework and going to band practices and have never been on a proper vacation in my life, I wonder how you spend your summer vacation.
I'm an old married man now so I do the same thing all year long...work work work we will be taking a long weekend in Gatlinburg, TN for our anniversary in June but that is about all the vacation we will be having. Baby is due in October so we are saving all our time off for that xP
Nothing much. Only sleeping. I'm Not really interesting in travelling, although there are a few places I'd to travel(Antartica). And If I'm not sleeping , then I'm also working.
Summer vacation, I don't do anything fancy like visit other countries or whatever. Typically, I use that time to wind down from the exhausting school year, recover, and relax. I tend to do activities with my family or friends, such as go to the beach or the city, hang out, stuff like that. Although, this summer I may be traveling across the country to visit my brother. So that's something to look forward to, at least
Well for the past two summers its been nothing but extra classes so, haven't done anything but work recently. I used to go camping but then the family got old and got responsibilities and we stopped doing that.
Work.... :droplet: I miss doing nothing/relaxing for the summer ; ; camping sounds really fun, it's too bad life can get in the way but you only get to live once, so I think it's important to make time for other things. I've realized lately just how busy I am and the older you get, the more difficult it becomes to take proper breaks and vacations. Even if you work, I hope you guys can find ways to enjoy yourselves at least in the summer!
I was planning on just taking summer classes this summer but employment got in the way of that. So now I'm just... not doing much but doing work stuff, I guess. :\ ... Although I do have plans to hang out with a few friends here and there so it's not all gloomy! My plans just tend to be pretty spontaneous and dependent on the situation/my mood so as of this point I think this summer may or may not be uneventful. We'll see.
I'll likely be working as usual. Summer's a busy travel season, so the occasions I will get to fly places look to be few and short in duration. I may get lucky and have a time where I have maybe four or five days off in a row. But of course when the big travel frenzies die down over the summer, I'll definitely be seeking to fly to a couple of places. Arizona to visit a couple of pilot schools Family is going on a cruise in the Caribbean (minus me ) which leaves me alone at the house. I'll be looking to go possibly abroad (Lisbon sounds awesome) May go and see my grand-aunt and grand-uncle plus their family in Toronto and Ottawa. Would love to go and see a BJays game. And I may go back to KC to see my Chiefs football. I try to go to at least one of the home games with this flying perk.
Everyone in my family takes a week off from work and we just do day trips around here. Usually hit the beach, visit museums, or just sit chilling on a bench people watching. I guess it doesn't sound too exciting, but I enjoy it. heh
We have our annual July activities - camping over Fourth of July weekend, and a week of sleepaway camp - and then usually some sort of trip. This year is my dad's fiftieth, so we're going to Philadelphia to celebrate. Other times we'll visit family (as they all live in other states, minus my mom's dad), and last year we went to Scotland for my mom's fiftieth.
I'm going camping for a weekend, then going back to school for finals because snow days pushed the year into the next week, then going back to camping. Then my brother and I go to our maternal grandparent's house up in New York (I'm in PA) for two weeks, followed by a trip to our paternal grandparents in Maine for one week (Just found out that we're hiking Mount Washington. That's gonna be a pain). Then my family normally goes to the high peaks in the ADK for 4th of July weekend, and after that I go back to PA and participate in the Summer Science Training Program at Millersville University for three weeks. After that I have band camp and then my family (extended family included) goes up to the ADK for a week of fun. Then it's back home for two weeks and then it's back to school for Junior year. Oh, and I'm taking Honors Pre-Calc over the summer online.
Usually I do absolutely nothing as I stay up late, sleep in, and waste my time on the internet. Until band camp comes around and messes everything up because honestly band camp is "fun" in the way where you've lost literally every piece of yourself you just get used to the pain. This year, I'm going to Europe via that IAM thing I was nominated for and have not shut up about for the past year. I'll be turning seventeen in London on my first time out of the US so that's something I guess??
Okay, so it seems like I'm going to be spending my whole summer working, which is fine by me because I didn't really have any other plans, anyway.
My ideal summer vacation would mostly just be a chance for me to be in a show in a local community theater in the area. That hasn't happened in five years. I had hoped to do something like that this year, but my family is taking a three week visit to all our extended family in the middle of summer, so being in a show is kinda off the table. I'm looking forward to seeing my family, but *sigh*, it's been far too long since this theater geek has been in a show.
I usually work or just do some art. I'm not a very interesting person and my family hardly goes on vacations. If I'm not doing either of those things, I'm usually asleep.
