Personally, I believe that most modern movies are just eye candy, but there are gems like Dunkirk. That's just my opinion, so what do you think?
I like modern movies just as much as I like older movies. There have been plenty of movies that have come out in recent years that I enjoyed, Wreck it Ralph, Up, Interstellar, Fantastic Mr Fox, Dunkirk, Arrival, and Pacific Rim just to name a few. I am, however, getting sick of super hero movies as of late. The only ones I can really say I enjoyed are Wonder Woman, Dr Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy 1&2, and maybe Deadpool. The rest are insanely forgettable. I hope the fad dies off soon.
Some are hits, some are misses, I think a lot of the time it comes down to how long the runtime is. If a movie is longer, there's more time to accomplish stuff with it. The shorter it is, the more information has to be crammed into it awkwardly, often times at the start of the movie, and it just gets too predictable.
Modern movies are..okay? To me, a lot of modern movies have a lot of similar plots and it can get kind of boring. And I feel like they throw really unnecessary romances in them. There are some really great modern movies out there though.
A lot of modern movies fall into the pit traps of cliches like shoehorned romance. Ugh, shoehorned romance. If I go to watch a movie about aliens killing and eating people, I expect to see aliens killing and eating people, not people making out in the shower. X_X But that doesn't mean they're all bad. I'm a sucker for movies with sweet/cute plotlines (I'm a closet rom com fan okay? >_>), so if the characters are likable and the plot is warm and fuzzy I'll probably enjoy it.
Agreed. anyways I find myself watching modern movies for the special effects and action scenes (in Star Wars and superhero movies)
