Back in the day, OS in the computer should be bought, and there were 2 dominant OS options, Windows from Microsoft and Mac OS from Apple. And then, in 1991, Linus Torvalds decided to develop his own OS that will later be named after him, Linux, and the best part of it is that it's free to use! Years later, Linux becomes quite popular in their own right, and even spawned some notable distros like Fedora and Ubuntu, among others, and apparently Android OS that is embedded on smartphone nowadays was taking its roots from Linux as well!

What do you think about Linux? Did you use one? Which distro do you prefer the most, and how does it feel compared to Windows and Mac OS? Discuss!

I really like Linux OS I have used both Ubuntu and Fedora in the past and right now Im using Apricity which is a Gnome base OS quiet new and I totally fell in love with it, is really stable and do manage resources very well, even tho is in its 3rd beta if Im not mistaken.
Right now the only const I see in Linux is the fact that there are still programs that doesn't exist for it yet or are made by Microsoft therefor wont work on Linux tbh that and the lack of certain games on steam are the only reasons I haven't go full Linux yet and still keep windows on my computer.

Linux, is very good operating system. honestly, i don't use linux but i know that it is pretty cool. it have awesome features and has a capability to compete with windows. from my point of view linux OS is cool and awesome than windows but windows have some features and advertising(it is that i think and maybe only i think) so i cannot say linux is good than windows or mac but i can say that linux will not lag behind. with it, linux had a launch with androids which means now smartphones can use linux OS. i bet linux users will love to have them in their smartphones. i dont use one so, i am giving this review based on how was my experience with linux as we have one in our school computers. talking of distro i like both of them. they both have their own specefic design for which they are liked and i like both of them.

I think LInux is quite alright, even though I was not quite fond of it back in the day because it requires password to log in (thankfully some distros like Ubuntu eases it a bit by having option to login automatically when booting the computer). Recently I'm into Ubuntu again, albeit on Virtual Machines.

I tried to get into Ubuntu and Mint (which is Ubuntu with a Windows-like UI), but I never got the grip of being able to use its command line, wine functions, and all that. I wish I could learn it, but I'm just not there yet.

I do still have Ubuntu on my old laptop, because that machine is pretty much dead and I don't feel like reinstalling any Windows OS on it. I pretty much just use it entirely for torrenting (legal purposes, like archive.org and oc remix) so I don't have to leave either of my current computers on overnight for that purpose and wear down their parts unnecessarily. You know, since with my internet it will take a few days for me to download a whole gigabyte if I want FLAC versions of an OC remix album or the accompanying video trailers and wallpaper sets.

It is nice to know that it's open source and is free of corporate and governmental interests, so it's less prone to observation from big brothers, but I think the other drawbacks (lack of gaming mostly) outweigh that convenience.

I love Linux, I do. It's easy to use once you get the hang of it (which takes as long as it would if you used Windows for the first time) and it's waaaaaaay more customisable than WIndows or Mac probably ever will be. It's fast too, not to mention free and open-source! True, it's not for everyone, but it has everything I could want, except one, deal-breaking thing; programs.

I run a lot of programs on my PC that have no Linux versions, nor are they supported by Wine. I'd love to switch to Linux, I've tried it before and loved it, but after all, there's really no point in having a computer if I can't run the programs I want on it. ._.

I'm very comfortable with Mac OS X right now, but I think Linux is pretty good as well. I used to run Ubuntu on my old computer (cuz I hated Windows) and it was a good experience. First of all, most Linux distros are free. That's already a huge advantage over Windows in my opinion. I think the only problem you'd run into is that many programs (specifically games) are only available for Windows. But if you're like me (who only cares about office applications and internet browsers) then Linux would be a good choice.
