Or, I guess if you're already grown up, what are you pursuing? Myself, I want to go into film making, animation, machinima or voice acting. I'd like to work at RoosterTeeth at some point in my life, as well.

So, what do you want to be when you grow up, or what are you pursuing?

I think this is a very important question, but I hate trying to answer it. I used to want to be a writer or an artist. But as I grow older I know that's really not practical, and now, I have no idea what I want to do. :( Which is biting me in the butt because I'm supposed to be going to college and setting up my future, but I can't because the future is still unclear... u.u

I'm already "grown up" and all I want to be is free from the obligation of work. Not a Type A person I guess. I used to want to be a writer but my writing is nothing special on the competitive stage of the professionals. Not to mention impractical. I don't really have dreams any more, the "you can be whatever you want" that was drilled into my generation is largely a lie. Maybe I'm just jaded here but you realize that as you get older.

It's sadly true, my mom always told me I could be whatever I want. But even she proved herself wrong by pursuing being a preschool teacher and had to give it up because she couldn't support me and my sisters that way. :/

Like Doima, I guess I've already "grown up" to some extent. When I was younger I knew what I wanted to do and I kept pursuing it through high school and eventually graduated with my bachelors degree in that same field. But now I wonder if it's really what I want. I'm hesitant when I see jobs for it since I know it's not going to be how I always imagined. (if you're curious, I graduated with a bachelor of fine arts; graphic design) Some reason now, I'd much rather have a job doing something else.

    When I think about what type of job I want to pursue...I try to think of something that I would like to do and have fun doing. Sadly, I might end up with a job I hate like most people, and I really don't want that. :( If I had the money I'd probably go to school for nursing or some type of animal care. I have somewhat experience with what nurses do and I also love animals. But also...I don't want to waste the 4 years I spent in college already x.x;

I myself have always wanted to be a writer/artist. My parents say that I can be whatever I want, and I'm dead set on being a writer/artist, but my parents don't believe me when I say I want to be a writer/artist. :/ But when I was younger, I wanted to be a teacher, then a scientist. Knowing myself I might want change what I want to be in a few years. Though, I'm hoping that I don't change what I want to be when I grow up.

I'm more math-oriented, so probably something to do with engineering. Maybe physics, thats where I have a brother headed already.

I plan to get into making concept arts for video games and movies. I enjoy making digital art, and that's what most concept art is these days. Designing the characters and scenes, especially for video games, seems like such a fun job. I know that a lot of people would rather help others in their careers, but there's not much of a way to do that with art. I know that there's a medical thing that many people can do involving artists, but I'm not cut out for medical work. I get way too scared way too easily to do that. I've been like that my entire life, and I don't see it changing. Other than that medicine isn't what I want to get into at all. The fact of the matter is I want to do whatever it is I want to do, whether it really helps society or not. It might sounds like I have a much bigger ego than I actually do, but I will put myself first when it comes to what career I want. I'm not going to back away from doing what I actually want to do just because it doesn't help society much.

Yeah, people enjoy video games and think they're fun. I guess video games have helped me in times of being freaked out when I just grab whatever system is nearest to me and start playing whatever game happens to be in it just to get my mind off of whatever it is that's freaking me out, but that's a personal thing. Besides, without video games there would be something else. Yes, I love video games, and no I don't care that what I want to do doesn't help society much, but the fact is it doesn't.

Of course, I'm just fourteen and my entire opinion here might change, but I'm pretty sure I'll still be aiming to get into the same field in four years when I'm leaving high school and trying to figure out what college to go to.

Writing is definitely someone I would turn to if the career I want to pursue doesn't work out. I've been told I'm really talented in that field, in expository and creative format. I definitely agree, though. The whole "you can do whatever you want to do" is, sadly, bullshit. The ones who do that are either very, VERY lucky, or try really hard to get where they are.

I think if you do pursue graphic design that you'll do wondefully. That's something I was always nervous about, getting a degree and then wishing I pursued something else. Because, one day, I might be obsessed with something, and then the next day, no interest. Maybe that's just a part of being a teenager, but I see no reason it can't come into play later in life.

I've had quite a few ideas in the past as a kid, but none ever stuck for more than a few years. one in particular has me still caught and that would be becoming an orchestra director or a middle school orchestra teacher. I don't even know why, maybe its because i enjoy being part of an orchestra and I want to pass that joy on to others.

I do believe it is a teenager or young adult thing to show interest in something and then lose interest quickly. I know not all teenagers and young adults do that, but I think it's silly to put so much pressure on people straight out of high school to go to college and figure out what they want to do. Well, maybe silly isn't the best word, as it IS the best thing to do, I just wish it wasn't the best thing to do, because it's incredibly stressful for those who really just don't know what they want to do yet.

I agree, because in no sense of the phrase do I know what i want to do, but i feel like if I don't figure it out i'll let people down because people are always saying i'm so talented and smart but i just don't know

In college, idk if that means I'm grown up in your book but w/e. My goal in life is to work in game creation, mostly character design but once I get farther into graphic design, I may try for map layouts too. I would absolutely love working at Nintendo, but theres alot of great companys I'd love to work for.

I'm also in college but I don't really consider myself to be grown up.

I'd like to be a historian or archivist. And I intend on publishing at least one fiction book before I die. My old dream was to open a university but that ended when I realized that it involved a lot of politics.

I'm not all that supportive of the company's recent decisions regarding it's theme parks but I'd still like to be a Disney Historian (their vaults are just orgasmic to me) even for a little while.

Well... I'm still young, so I can still dream. If I could be anything, I would be a professional illustrator. You know, everyone wants to use their talents, right?

What I want to be when I grow up? I want to be a orange unicorn. I'll get to fly throughout space an live on Neptune with Henry the Blue Unicorn! :D

In all seriousness, I'd like to be either a writer or a musician. Some people say being a writer 'isn't practical', but I like to make it either funny and to make someone feel better after a long, rough day or to put enough suspense in it to get you to use your mind and think. I enjoy playing guitar and piano, and if I don't become a writer I'd like to play the backround instruments for video games or for single artists. :)

I am currently in college and I have no idea what I'm doing. I wanted to go into animation and graphics design, maybe dabble in writing, but since art courses are so expensive, I decided to take Psychology. It's interesting but I don't know what I'll be in the future once I graduate. I really don't want to go into medicine. I hate being around sick people. I've been debating wether I'll be a school psychologist or take law, but then I'll be surrounded by problems of other people. And that's depressing. What I do know is that I'll never give up drawing. Once I get a stable job and get enough money, I'll take mini courses and learn all that I want to learn about art. It's what makes me wake up every morning and I can't imagine a life without it.

I definitely want to be a voice actor, but that dream is out of my reach. I'd settle for meeting my voice acting heroes though. Rob Paulsen, Jason Marsden, Maurice LaMarche, Carlos Alazraqui, Tom Kenny, Jess Harnell, the list goes on...

Until recently, I didn't have any idea at all.
But, I've cleared up my mind.
I really want to be a criminologist. (is... is that the word? I don't know)
Or at least something with psychology, that's for sure :)
