So I'm curious, what sorts of things do you guys want to see in future Pokémon games? What do you think could make a really great Pokémon game that you think you, and others would enjoy playing?

Here are a few things that I think would make the future Pokémon game better than ever.

    • Multiple save files, and drop multiple game versions. I've discussed this before, but we seriously need multiple save files. Why bother with two versions of Pokémon when you can have multiple save files? Will save everyone a lot more money.
    • Return of walking Pokémon. It is a small feature, but it means so much to Pokémon fans. Please bring it back!
    • Join Avenue. This great feature hasn't been seen since B/W 2, so it would be great to see a revamped version back.
    • A proper post game, with actual plot. This is again very important and keeps people playing.
    • I'd like to see a Mystery Dungeon game which can connect with a main series Pokémon game, allowing you transfer Pokémon you've recruited on PMD to your main game.
So, what do you think would make a great Pokémon game? Let us know!

For Pokémon games (or just one of them) to have a plot matching those of big JRPGs.

When I think of JRPGs (Mother 3, Xenoblade Chronicles, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6, Fire Emblem: Awakening etc), all the big names I think of have amazing plots... except Pokémon. Hell, the main reason I PLAY JRPGs is because of their amazing plot lines. Considering Pokémon is the most successful JRPG series of all time, yet it lacks the amazing plot the genre is known for, imagine how good a Pokémon game would be if it had a plot line as good as Awakening's or Xenoblade Chronicles'. What we'd have is a reboot to the JRPG genre and give the genre that massive kick up the backside it's needed for a while (even though since Xenoblade Chronicles, the genre has been making a recovery from it's state of decline away). It'd also create probably the best Pokémon game in the series.

A game that follows the anime, anyone?

It shouldn't follow the anime plot exactly, but feature some of the more memorable moments

Like you said, Achromatic, a proper post-game would be really great! Something with a plot that will keep people around, because all you can do really post game nowadays is train Pokémon, shiny hunt, etc. Not an actual story.

I think it would be neat if they added something else for your character to be at the beginning of the game. Like when you start the game, you automatically begin as a trainer. But in the first few towns or so, you could double as a trainer && something else-- Maybe a breeder, ranger, nurse, etc. && based on what you pick, little side quests with random people in the game open up. So you'll still be able to do the normal storyline (collect badges, stop the 'evil' organization, etc), but also other things based on your character's 'profession.'

Well, i think another game with Shadow Pokémon or Pokémon Rangers would be great, but that's specific to side games. For stuff not listed here, I'm thinking being able to catch them all, without events or trading with friends. Even if they were a hard puzzle like the Regis, it'd still be nice.

The stuff that I look forward to in the Pokémon Games are:

    1. Changing main character's appearance. (outfit, hair, hat, and etc) - In X/Y, you get to show who/what you are in the game. It would be great if they brought that back along with more outfit choices (especially for the males)

    2. Pokémon following you - In HG/SS, the first Pokémon in your party gets to walk around with you. I agree with Ben on this one! It gets a little lonely if you travel yourself. :/ Having a Pokémon partner walk around with you makes things more interesting. =3

    3. Secret Bases - In R/S/E, you get to choose and decorate your very own base/home/gym. In OR/AS, you get to share it with all of your friends. It would be awesome if they brought this along with the newer games; plus, some more equipment to use to decorate.

    4. Fly around with you Pokémon - In OR/AS, we get to fly around the Hoenn region with Mega Latios/Latias. It would be awesome if we get to fly with whatever Pokémon we choose around the region we're in. x3

    5. Traveling around to other regions - In G/S/C & HG/SS, we get to ttravel around in the Jhoto & Kanto regions! Wouldn't it be awesome if we get to travel to all of the regions we discovered in the Pokémon Games? (Kanto, Jhoto, Hoenn, Orre (from Pokémon Colosseum & X D), Sinnoh, Unova, & Kalos) It bring out more to the story of the Pokémon game and you get to see all of the antagonist teams. ^^

Those are what I think

    -Multiple save files
-More in-depth customization of your character
-Having the option to have your leading Pokémon follow you like in HG/SS
-The ability to backtrack to another region (only Gen II has this feature, sadly).
-Pokémon evolving in mid-battle like they do in the anime when they reach their required level
-Wiggling grass patches (gotta admit, I miss that from BW/BW2)
-Make another Stadium-like game and have the current day Pokémon games be compatible with it (imagine the graphics in Wi-Fi battles)
-Overhaul the HM system; turn them in to Key Items instead.
-An even more improved GTS and one that can't be broken.
-Bulk trading both wirelessly with friends and over the internet.

If I think of anything more, I'll add to the post.

A lot of these idea's are really good, along with walking Pokémon, I'd love a game where you travel with another trainer (sister/brother, friend, some sort of love interest) and they would have an AI that would pick what Pokémon they go after and how they train.
A way to replay the game with out restarting, maybe being able to talk to a kid and give them a starter (lvl 5 base form) and they could travel and get the badges, maybe even use that as a sort of post game, they meet up with remnants of the team and help sweep up the mess.
Something cool that's like contests but more like in the anime, maybe even changing the appeal round to a series of battles where you are scored based on move appeal and remaining health.
Oh and screen capture. Tomodachi life spoiled me, and I miss the ability to screen shot stuff super easy in other games. so that would be cool

    • Multiple save files
    • Pokémon following you (like in HGSS)
    • Less HMs (Just Waterfall, Surf, and Fly imo)
    • Playing with the enemy team
I know that none of these will probably ever happen again, but oh well.

I'd like for there to be a Pokémon game where you're given more of an option of what to do during your adventure. Rather than just have the option of being a travelling trainer, maybe give players the chance to try being a professor's assistant, or a Pokémon breeder. It could just be small events, but it'd expand more on the characters you encounter in the universe and just on the Pokémon universe as a whole.
It'd be cool to work in one of the battle restaurants and battle visiting trainers and such! Kind of like the hotel you could do work for in X/Y

I don't think multiple save files will ever be a thing, but walking Pokémon might come back in certain situations. I'm personally hoping for even more activities that you can do online with your friends. Battling and trading is fun, but adding more online events could be really cool!

I'm also hoping for more post-game contest, honestly. The Delta Episode in ORA was a step in the right direction, so I hope they go off that and make some really awesome post-game content that ties into the main story of the games. I think that would make future games even more amazing.

Oh, it seems people have already said what I wanted to put.

Hmmm... Female leader for evil team? Having a dad instead of a mom at the beginning?
Riding Ponyta and Rapidash around, kinda like a bike.
    Sixth category for Pokémon Contests.
I would also like an option that allows me to listen to music in the game, kinda like in PMD:EOS.

And something that will probably never happen: Custom Pokémon. A.k.a, Fakemon. Kinda like Spore.

    :)

    -player customization
    -complex characters (characters like N)
-more in game Pokémon interaction (something beyond Pokémon amie, which to me feels pretty static and set) Maybe letting your Pokémon out just to chill or something, and maybe help to find items- effectively replacing the Dowsing Machine
    -more exploration and open-world
    -more post-game stuff
-better rivals (they just don't make rivals like Gary Oak anymore) or maybe even a traveling companion (this one may be a bit of a stretch though)

this also sees to be unlikely but I would like to see a continuation of the Shadow series (Colosseum and Gale of Darkness)

    Let's see...
    -The return of walking Pokémon
    -Lots of backstory/lore
    -Region traveling
    -Riding Pokémon
-Automatic running button (like the one in Pokémon HGSS)

I would be super open to other additions as well. Looking forward to the future Pokémon!

I won't repeat any but I agree on a lot of the popular ones.

-I'm hoping for older characters and story lines that make their age important.

-Dark type gym/leader. I think its ridiculous we haven't had one yet. So far only elite four members have specilized in this type.

-More interesting and unique Pokémon. I will say that while I've come around to some of the odd newer Pokémon I don't understand why we bother when there are so many animals to base Pokémon on that haven't been touched. We have tons of butterfly Pokémon and Moth Pokémon but the closest thing to a Kangaroo is a Kangaskan which is only similar because it has a pouch. We could do more bear Pokémon, a single tiger Pokémon would be nice. we don't need so many unconventional Pokémon when these could still be explored. Also more eeveelutions, although I excpect they are working on that already.

-Better travling companions/Rivals who do more in the story. Also a way to invite certain people you meet to travel with you. Ash getting to make friends and travel with people is a staple in the anime but we have no choice in travel companions except the occasional option to name them dogface. Also having the story impacted by your choice in companions.

-And lastly I want just one game where you have the choice of any unevolved non-legendary Pokémon as your starter. This will likely never happen but it should. I feel like our characters are so resticted we have to start with one Pokémon with either grass, water, or fire type. What if you want to start with something else? Most of the trainer you encounter didn't start like that they had other options. I want other options.

Everyone has already mentioned all of the things I wanted to say. Walking around with Pokémon, better trainer customization, all those stuff. But one thing that hasn't been mentioned is owning your own house. Not a secret base but an actual house. Well, it might not happen ever because your player is basically a 10 year old or something. But imagine owning a house in Mauville Hills. Cool, right?
