My bird doesn't look too happy right now. More annoyed than scared though. She's sort of... glaring at me, like the noise is my fault. My dog is so sweet though. I just found something out about her I hadn't realized until now. All this time I thought she was scared of fireworks since most dogs are, but she doesn't really freak out the way most dogs do. Last night she came into my room for a while (she usually sleeps in my mom's room) and laid down in her dog bed while some fireworks were going off. When they stopped, she went back into the other room. Well of course the fireworks tonight are even worse. I got up to go to the bathroom a while ago and she followed me and started scratching on the door. Not frantically, just really lightly, I guess to let me know she was there and to get me to open the door. I went back to my room and moved her bed closer to my desk. She immediately laid down. She's being really calm. Normally she runs to my mom if she's not feeling well or something's upsetting her, so I thought it was really weird. She's also laying down in a way that she can keep an eye on my mom's room. So then I realized, she's not scared at all, although she still thinks the sounds are something dangerous. She's protecting us. She's such a good girl.
When I had cats, they would gather at the door meowing frantically and scratching at the door or windows for us to let them in like we sometimes do, but this was their normal behavior in general except they do it worse when there are fireworks going off...I miss those cats...
If my cat actually did hear the fireworks, then she didn't react much to them. She just sat on my desk and looked at me as the booms went on outside, and after that she went to go nap like she normally does around this time of night. But she also doesn't tend to react much to even loud noises in general (she can hear them, she just doesn't do much), so.
My birds don't really seem to care that much. The fireworks usually pretty far away where I live so it's really muffled if anything. They might act differently if people closer to us were to shoot off fireworks though.
I thought that my puppy would have barked like crazy at the fireworks. She used to bark frantically whenever there was a strong wind outside. She's been really quiet about the fireworks though. She just doesn't like to be outside when they're going on.
my doggo and one of my cats head for the nearest end table and just hang out there until its over..... once my dog was under his favorite table for like 4 hours and i feel bad for him TwT my other cat that doesnt hide?? she doesnt do anything. im not sure if she cant hear them (im 99% sure she can) or she just doesnt care but she just doesnt react??? maybe she'll lie on the floor or go under a chair but shes a goddamn brick. last night when it was the worst she just didnt care at all. learn from my cat everyone she can teach you some valuable things about not caring
Mfw I don't have any pets but all the dogs in the surrounding apartments were going crazy last night.
My dog doesn't mind them too much, especially not when she's indoors. Our neighbors have been setting off fireworks for the past week or two, though, and whenever I'm out walking her, she'll freeze at the sound.
Nobody ever sets off fireworks near out house, so the noise isn't too bad. The dogs never seem to notice, and if they do, they don't seem to care too much.
